Love this Ralph's! Very convenient location and always have nice produce. Staff is usually friendly and the size of the store is perfect!!!

Tues afternoon I bought Fosters Farm's chicken pack (thighs/legs). It was on sale (a BOGO). Even tho I know better than to buy meat on a Tues, I did. When I opened it at home it reeked of a chemical smell... the bleach concoction they dip it in/spray on it to prolong its life. Tried grilling it, it was HORRIBLE!! Sawdust texture, absolutely no flavor, the skin was like thick chicken leather. TOTALLY INEDIBLE!! Don't care what price, what day, that chicken should NEVER have been sold to customers. We moved here 6 months ago and go to RALPHS a few times a week since, it is so convenient. However, it is by far the worse grocery store we have ever shopped in. The employees are rude, not helpful, and never smile. The baggers consistently put the raw chicken and meat in the same bag as the raw produce. The produce doesn't hold a candle to produce at any other store in the area. We love Eastbluff area but can't understand how RALPHS can allow a store in this area to be so terrible. There doesn't seem to be any one in management that cares about customer service & quality at all. Please RALPHS hire management & employees that care and turn this store around. read more

The prices are decent here, the meat market is great, they have a lot of healthy brand options here and the employees are always kind and helpful! You never get weirdos walking around that make you feel uncomfortable because of the nice area that the store is in. My only complaint is that they never have enough check out stands open. read more

****Convenient and Customer Service!**** Customer Service is all that and a bag of chips! The people working here really go out of their way to make it a good place to shop. The answer questions and help whenever needed. I love the fact that they notice when the lines get long or if you are having problems finding things. The folks working here go out of their way to make this a great place to shop. The hot foods section has various dinner combos at very reasonable prices. This is especially true for their chicken dinners that come with sides. The little one love the corn dogs! This location also has a very good selection of cheese. The bakery section is AOK. This has to be the worst location I have been to, produce is always moldy and/or expired, you better check the expiration date on produce and meat.. one day I found some hamburger patties that were 1 month past the date! one MONTH! The employees look miserable for most of them and have attitude... The dude at the deli this evening was eating deli meat with his gloves and then slicing my meat.. he sliced 1.5 lb of cheese and threw it in the bag, the slices were all crushed and it took 10 mn for him to slice 1.5 of cheese with an attitude.. They restock and put boxes everywhere which makes it difficult to even shop and when you move the boxes they look at you like you are bothering them.. And the worst is that even with all the restocking nightmares they barely have anything in stock... it's ridiculous! This store is a total chaos! Poor customer service. My family and I were overlooked and not provided customer service so we left our basket of items at the checkout stand and walked out the door. The cashier seemed unhappy with her job but that is not anyone's fault. Although, the cashier could have called for assistance if she was overwhelmed, she chose not to do so as more customers lined up to check-out. While I understand the reason for many negative reviews (mainly not enough registers open) this Ralph's location is pretty decent when it comes to fresh groceries. They usually have great selection of organic fruit and veggies (with price often only a little bit higher than non-organic options). I am also a fan of the deli as well as sushi counters. It's near a high school so it might be best to avoid it around school closing times to avoid the notorious long lines. It's a pity since this is a nice store and employees are also generally nice and helpful. I just think the management should do something to reduce the wait time at checkout lines during rush hours. Otherwise it's a solid place!! read more

I never thought I would review a grocery store, but here I am. This is quite possibly the worst grocery store I've been to, but the only reason I come (I usually go to Trader Joes) is because it's close if I need somethings or don't want to drive farther. 1-2 workers on the registers if you're lucky. The lines are always so long and they expand into the frozen section. Otherwise it's self checkout or you have to bring your alcohol to the self checkout person and it's a hassle since there's nothing to put your items on, so you have to dig out your items for them to scan. I haven't had an issue with items, but I've been where there aren't any carts to use, so you have to sacrifice items while simultaneously getting a workout in and questioning the durability of the basket handle. So this is what it comes to: I went to this Ralph's tonight and there were zero registers open. Zero. Because they've gone from merely pushing self-checkout on us to making us do it. No options. I hate self-checkout for a lot of reasons, from how it puts people out of work to the fact that I just don't feel like taking on the extra chore of scanning and bagging the groceries I'm still being charged the same price for. When stores started assigning employees to assertively steer customers away from the normal lanes and over to self-checkout, I bristled, but just said no. Now, this nonsense. My gallon of milk had a coupon stuck to it, but after I scanned it it required an employee to collect the coupon and punch a code in on my screen. (So much for "self-checkout.") That happened to be the exact second that the one attendant (for four stations) was about to disappear into the store with another self-dupe on a fact-finding mission. I managed to stop her by thrusting the coupon in front of her as she was rushing by, and she was mindful enough to stop and help me finish checking out. But had it happened five seconds later I would have been waiting for them for as long as it took before I could pay and leave. I remember when gas stations started charging for air. (Yes, kids, air was once free!) At the time it seemed as ludicrous as it was devious, but then it just was. Maybe this will be like that, and the great-grandkids will marvel at tales of blank-faced, indifferent teens who used to put your food in bags for you and sometimes even said "Have a nice day." The clerk has more intelligence than the manager. Clearly guidelines for operating are spelled out not only on their website but in their operations manuals. The person in charge this evening, Gaby is to inept apparently to read. She claimed she was afraid of losing her job for doing her job. I was in a pinch and needed to cash my paycheck. Needless to say Gaby refused first stating it was a third party check. Obviously she does not know what a third-party check is or the difference between a payroll check and a third party check. Then she stated she was afraid of losing her job because they have made mistakes in the past? Sounds like it is possibly a training problem or maybe it's just because Gaby does not know how to read and or is too lazy to read. The cashier suggested calling the manager however Gaby refused. Who made the mistake of putting this girl in charge? the young man with long curly hair at the register obviously has more common sense and intelligence give him a shot and get rid of Gaby since she is either to lazy or lacks the intelligence to do her job efficiently. she sent me away claiming i need to come back when her manager is there. The young kids working at night are so desperate to get out of work and half ass their jobs, that it doesn't give people who work jobs at night a fair chance to come during posted hours. Has become the worst super market in Newport Beach! They are too cheap or lazy to have more than one check stand open so you are stuck with self check out. The self check ALWAYS has a glitch, leaving you stranded waiting for someone to clear it so you can proceed. Older but nice location. I always like shopping at Ralph's because of the great deals you can find on their managers specials as well as in their clearance section in the back of the store. I wish there was an option for zero stars because Ralphs in Eastbluff would qualify. I don't know what has happened to the store over the last several years but it is filthy dirty, dark, barely stocked and whatever fresh food is available is old and ragged. First of all, this location is usually out of most produce items or if you buy produce, its so oversprayed with water, the produce rots right away. Old and rotten, shriveled items are left on display. Latest genius manager idea is to throw the plastic shopping bags in self checkout on top of the registers in one lump so you can struggle to get a bag for your purchases. I asked why they are not putting on rack for ready access, was told new frontline manager wants customers to get bag by bag from self checkout employee attendant. The cashiers now have to seperate and fold each bag as well. What a hassle for customers and waste of time for store employees. Considering they never have enough live checkout lines, the new bag folders would better serve customers at more open registers. This is real hassle and time waster for customers who mostly have to self check to stop and go get another bag. Really how many people really steal a 10 cent bag? Considering their high prices, should be complimentary. Provide paper bags to customers at least. This store location is a joke. Customers should shop at other stores like Albertsons, who seem to appreciate their customers and at least try their best to make it a good shopping experience without the hassle and no rotten produce or gaping holes on shelves. No fresh fare here. This ridiculous new bag policy really is absurd and I am so annoyed, im going to permanantly shop elsewhere. read more

I just had a bad experience at the East Bluff Ralph's that was very disturbing to me.... I was ready to check out and queued up to start my transaction (insert my card into the reader) to purchase 2 quarts of ice cream and the cashier let someone cut in front of me... A young millennial... I was shocked!! It appeared that the cashier knew the person who cut in front of me and knew the person (also a young millennial) just ahead of me who was finished with his purchase and was wheeling away out the door in an electric cart... Is that what it takes to get out of the supermarket these days? To know someone on the inside? Do you have to know the cashiers personally now in order to buy groceries? We have been going to this Ralph's for over 20 years. I think from now on that we'll send an extra 5 minutes to go to Pavilions Vons a little further from our home. It is our experience that their cashiers don't need to know you personally in order to check out. It is so easy to lose good customers in this new paradigm of the post consumer economy. read more

This is pretty nicely kept and very well organized Ralphs, but then again, most Ralphs locations are good. The produce is fresh and the aisles are wide and kept clean. Parking is ample and employees are friendly. There's a Starbucks inside which is helpful to know since this tiny plaza doesn't have a cafe outside. Plenty of seating on the patio and if you want to go for a walk, go across the street the park and continue to the end where you'll get dumped onto Back Bay Loop. Grab a coffee and get some fresh air while you move that C8H10N4O2 through your bloodstream. I don't understand all the negative reviews. But then again, I don't expect full service staff ready when I walk into a friggin grocery store. It's a Ralphs, people. Get over it (and yourselves). read more

Unfortunately, this is the most convenient location for my shopping needs. It's always hit or miss with their stock, but I can always count on the dismissive staff. I used to love going to this Ralphs, friendly helpful staff and quick check out and bagging. This is not the first offense, I gave Ralphs time to get it together and back to normal. They have decided to go farther into NO service rather than being better. Tonight they had ONE regular lane open with a checker and a line pile up 5 people deep. There were THREE people at the self check out to "Help" JUST OPEN A LANE! And NO ONE bagging. Grocery shopping isn't something I need to have take longer than necessary. This has to be one of THE worst Ralphs that I have ever been to. Aside from always being out of stock for most items, the employees here are so rude. Ive asked for help finding a product a few times and each time, ive been brushed off. I figured they were busy so I just left them alone and found the item myself. What was a dealbreaker for me was the fact that I was in the middle of shopping when I received a horrible phone call of a family emergency. I had to get home immediately since I did not even have any time to stand in line and check out. I frantically found the nearest employee and explained to them my situation. I asked them what I should do with my cart since i didn't want to just abandon it in the middle of an aisle like many people do. This employee was already visibly irritated once I approached him and I think I made it worse for him. He told me that I needed to put every item back that I had in my cart before I left the store. I explained to him that it is an EMERGENCY and I just was trying to notify an employee about my cart instead of just leaving it. He told me that I still needed to go put every single item back and that its not his job to do so. I remember working as a teenager where we had people who specifically focused on put-backs so I'm not sure what has changed. I asked if there were a manager I could speak to. He ended up rolling his eyes and saying "I GUESS I could find someone to handle this myself. Just go." I ended up having to just walk out and not say anything more to him as I was wasting my time already just going back and fourth. I would never be treated this way somewhere like Bristol Farms and I will most likely never return to this store. read more

Only come here if I need 1 thing because it's over priced, nothing is ever in stock nor are there every any employees around to assist. Most of them are rude too.
