I also ordered some French fries, which are also delicious. I highly recommend this family-owned business.

This is a Hannaford in need of improvement at least with the prepared foods!…read moreThe hot bar items are consistently stale, cold, or dried out. There is no time stamp on one stuff has been put out. I gave it one last try last week and it was 10:30 a.m. and stuff looked like it should be hot and it still was I don't know when it was put out but it wasn't fresh. The bagged chicken tenders are better bet. I wish they would do the Nashville hot again that was the best flavor. These also have time and date stamps on them. For someone like myself who spent many years in the restaurant business and food service I don't understand how they can just leave stuff out and not explain when it was put out. I did reach out to the company a few months ago regarding this issue which they never replied to me about, which is poor customer service, as well as not backing up your procedures with actual food safety! I have never gotten sick from eating it but some of the time has been so bad that it's inedible and that's when I contacted the company. Why put stuff out if you don't give a crap? When I was going to continuing ed in Manchester, the Bedford store, And Goffstown stores we're always well maintained in this regard. As for the rest of the Keene store the seafood counter is always spot on and I've never had problems with their deli, or produce etc. The bakery items they have as most grocery stores do are the quick rise kinds of breads and cakes probably made with hydrogenated oils. That said I don't buy my bread products from the store unless it's just a bun to make a cold cut sandwich. It's honestly still probably one of the better grocery stores in Keene. Market basket though is giving it a run for its money these days though. It's slightly cheaper at least for produce and many other things. Aldi across the street is pretty fantastic in certain ways but doesn't have the selection of products that Hannaford's does Back when people were wearing masks some of the people attending to the checkouts at this were not the most pleasant as well they would make you remove your mask( which I didn't want to wear in the first place) to validate alcohol. I don't understand how society can be this confused about cross-contamination if they are worried about such things, as I have worked in medical environments that doesn't make sense. It's a bananas world and some people just follow orders.

The WG is a small gem in the middle of a gem of a town. It's not your typical small-town grocery;…read moreit serves the needs of both locals who run in for a quart of fresh milk from a local farm or some homemade bread as well as the visitor who wants to pick up some local cheeses and wines. The stock is not huge -- this is a small store -- but thoughtfully chosen to reflect the best of local/regional producers. For instance, the ground beef is trimmed and ground on-site, and it tastes terrific either in a bun or by itself. There's also excellent pork and chicken in a variety of specialty cuts along with a small seafood selection. They make their own sausages, and the deli meats include turkey and ham (smoked at the store). You'll find the origin of meat specified by farm, so localvores should be smiling. There are good selections of wines and beers (many locally produced and brewed). The milk (including raw milk) and dairy product choices come from local farms and are as delicious and fresh as you might imagine. There are limited choices of canned goods, mixes, dry goods, etc.; you can find those elsewhere at Shaws in Walpole or Hannaford in Keene. The staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable, we feel, given the top-end quality of goods. The key words here are "quality" and "local," and the WG does the locals proud. We are proud to be regulars. P.S.: They are open seven days a week and -- though we don't care for facebook -- the WG posts weekly specials at their facebook page. Enjoy.

I was visiting family in Keene, NH (So pretty! Get up there straight away!!) and it's their tradition to grab breakfast from this spot which they refer to as "Lisa's" cuz a woman named Lisa owns it. Let me lay it out you guys: Lisa and her deli team are breakfast sandwich wizards. Tbh, I'm fairly certain that I didn't know what a breakfast sandwich even meant before last weekend. Let's get to the magic. The sandwich is built on an un-toasted english muffin that is the ur-muffin of muffins: good structure but pliant and hearty but thinnish. These muffins taste like real food. Made of actual grains, by actual hands. Are they made in-house? By benevolent breakfast elves? Perhaps. The sausage patty is house-made, my aunt informed me, simply seasoned, and crazy delicious. I kid you not that I could eat many such patties, on their own, if that weren't unseemly and basically a health risk. Because yeah a sausage diet is not one that is recommended all too often, right? I suppose I should have inquired what sort of sausage it was but I think all you need to know is that it's a magic patty. The egg component of the sandwich is made in one of those nifty round-shaped thingies, so it lines up perfectly with the patty and muffin. Because not only is this sandwich delicious, it's also gorgeous and tidy: no dangly bits to worry about or crumbs as you bliss out in between bites, reading an actual paper newspaper in the garden or driving to that sweet kayak spot or lying in bed wondering if you ever really need to get up. (I tested these conditions for you. It's all good!) And of course, no breakfast sandwich can be replete without some sort of cheese. I believe the cheese is cooked into the egg? Mmmmm. Cheesy eggs. I think we've all experienced that moment, right? (Vegan friends, know that I am a huge fan of tofu veggie scrambles with Daiya and/or nutritional yeast; a plant-strong "cheesy eggs" FTW, for sure!) Finally there's a bit of green in the layering of this egg, patty and cheese beauty: thinly sliced cucumber, julienned green peppers, maybe a bit of arugula? Make no mistake it's FANCY and you totally deserve it. Of course, you can opt out of the greens, as my cousin did. She opted out of the sausage patty as well...so. You're on your own if you follow her dictum. Anyway what are you doing next weekend? Maybe you should mosey over to Beaver Street?

When it was time to make a decision I chose their meatloaf sandwich which was great. It was huge, tasty and definitely filling. The only critique was that the sandwich was a bit sloppy and weirdly enough it had too much meatloaf. It would have been nice if they had a seating area to have my meal, but sitting outside under their tree line was just as good. Overall, this is a great store and deli. The food was great and the staff was even better. This is definitely a place to stop in if you are hungry and in the area.
