I was married on 11/6/10 and used 'A Matter of Taste' for my reception. The package that my husband…read moreand I decided on included the following: catering, open bar, transportation, linens (chair & table covers), cake. The flowers, church, makeup, hair, etc I did on my own. The owner, Grisel, was very nice in the beginning while we were planning our big day- but towards the end she started to become a little catty. We had paying our balance off and had decided we were going to wait until it was due, to pay off the final amount. One day while meeting with Grisel she gives me this speech on the economy and how things are bad and she needs to get paid. I thought this was a little unprofessional because how her household handles their finances is really none of my concern or problem...but she made me feel bad so I wrote her a check and paid some of the balance... On our special day, upon arriving to the reception (10 minutes late because we were taking pictures), I was promptly greeted with a bad attitude and a reminder that I was ten minutes late. I ignored it and reminded myself that this was just one day and I needed to make the best of it. Then the reception kicked off and we were having a great time, until Grisel and Pupi (her husband) inform my husband and I that they were closing the bar because our guests were "intoxicated"- and because of this they were closing the bar a half hour early. I was witness to the behavior exhibited by my guests, no one was "intoxicated" nor creating some kind of scene. When we spoke with them and reminded them that we had paid for the half hour that they were taking away from us, they simply closed the bar and closed the panel as to not allow anyone else into the bar area. My guests attempted to speak with them because they saw how upset my husband and I were, and they were just as rude to my guests as they were to my husband and I. I would not recommend this caterer to ANYONE! At first they are very nice and this is because they NEED your business, but then their true colors come out. They are expensive and although the food was good, I would hate for anyone having an event to have to deal with this company. Do yourself a favor and don't call them!

My experience with Grisel and her entire Matter of Taste team was simply impeccable…read more My husband and I hired Grisel Garcia and her team for our wedding this past year. We got the highest package that included food, open bar all night, linens, chairs, tables, limo service, flowers for centerpieces, cake, and DJ for the most amazing price per person! Grisel was outstanding and very understanding from the very first day. She took my husband and I in with open arms and gave in to everything we asked for without a problem. If there was something Grisel could not do, she made sure to explain why or make sure she did everything in her power to do it. She was always very reachable and easy to contact when I had a question, comment, or concern. Her service and knowledge was always 5 star rated! The food and waiter service was divine. My guests ALL spoke so highly of the food and how delicious everything was! There were no complaints and the bar service was great. We never ran out of liquor and no one was turned away when wanting more :) Bar and food were #1. Grisel and her team had everything set up on time and the flowers and tables looked amazing!! She and her flower company did everything I asked for and made the ceremony and reception look beautiful! It was incredible how gorgeous it all came out. It was my dream come true. The DJ, Alex Rodriguez with Sound Express, was also great! The music was all the famous hits and everything we wanted to hear. His organization throughout the night was outstanding and he was very understanding with getting all the songs we wanted to hear :) Thank you to A Matter of Taste and Grisel for making my dream wedding come to a reality. I would not have changed one thing! :)

The next day I called him to get paid and the man didn't want to pay me, he told me this week, next week and I saw that I hadn't received my money. And the man even mistreated me, telling me that he was very busy and couldn't help me, that if I didn't go personally, he would never pay me. I do not recommend him or his service, he mistreats his workers, at the event I was at, a worker told me that he yelled at him and mistreated him. His job is not great either, the food is average and not that good. I do not recommend him... He is an inconsiderate person. I felt very comfortable and no matter the time they were there for me ( I was not the easiest bride to say the least) but no matter the circumstances I always felt their help in putting all my crazy/ fancy ideas to life. The event manager Jose was AMAZING! He never got frustrated with all the e-mails I sent him with last minute changes and was always e-mailing me back with different suggestions and options that could help. My wedding was beautiful... it was the talk of both families for a while. Sunset cove was beautiful and I couldn't have asked for a better wedding! I recommend imagine 110% and with my eyes closed. Every little girl dreams of how their wedding will be like... this little girl was happier than a fat kid in a candy store and it wouldn't have been possible without the time and effort and without the love and passion that Jose put in as if it was his own wedding. We do events and executions of all sorts all over the nation as part of our customers mutli faceted campaigns & promotions. The great thing about my business, is that we have assembled great resources, built incredible relationships, and constantly expand our capabilites and recommended vendors/venues. Even after telling them what I do as a business, this company has proved to be one of the least professional companies I have experienced in many years. Ironically I came to them for my own wedding plans as I actually like a small space called The Cove located at the The Seaquarium. THis is an open space with no amenities, and basically a blank canvas which I considered due to my resources. Outside of being in the industry, I do expect a certain level of attention and want to do business with people who actually provide the customer service that they charge and arm and a leg for. Outside of coming back with cost of the space over $1500 than originally stated, I got no return phone calls for weeks at a time, and when they did it was with the attitude of my boss says no, we cant offer you that any more, and we forgot that we must charge for something else. Dont you know what the costs are as an "exclusive" vendor???? I never received a formal proposal, never met the owner/decision maker to-date who hides behind her help and never had the decency of introducing herself to me (her assistant was actually a nice guy and seemed embarrased over the whole thing), and obviously they have no interest in my event business moving forward which is substantial. Unfortunatley, many great venues are tying themselves up with these"exclusive" vendors that can either make you or break you. Consider this one "broken"! I am concerned the Seaquarium made a big mistake with this choice. My take on this...dont be in the customer service industry if you cant provide professional customer service! What a waste of time!!!!

To start, the hors d'oeuvres were absolutely incredible--honestly better than restaurant quality, which you don't always expect at weddings.
