Long John Silver's in Sweetwater is a decent option when you're craving fast-food seafood, but the…read moreexperience can be a little hit-or-miss. The food is usually hot and satisfying when it is freshly prepared, especially the fish and hushpuppies. The portions are fair for the price, and it is convenient when you want something different from the usual burgers and chicken. That said, the quality and service can vary depending on the time of day. Sometimes the food seems like it has been sitting a little too long, and the wait can be longer than expected even when the restaurant does not appear especially busy. The dining area could also use a little more consistent attention. Overall, it is not a bad choice for a quick seafood fix, but it is not always consistent enough to be a regular stop. Fresh food and friendly service make a big difference here--when they get both right, it is quite good.

The restaurant was clean, the staff was polite and efficient and best of all the food was served hot & delicious. I still prefer the LJS Chicken Strips above many others and their Fish is always hot & tasty. Highly pleasing to the pallet. Note: My previous LJS review was for a restaurant in Athens, TN and has since closed, having been replaced by a CookOut Restaurant at the location.

The grits were creamy, shrimp and sausage perfectly cooked, sauce perfectly seasoned. Husband had the special: steak and shrimp with mashed potato and brussels. He raved the entire time. The bite he offered me was tender, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. 100% recommend.

The vibe is cute, kitschy, and comfortable all at the same time. I pulled up to a seat at the bar, and the bartender was immediately friendly and warm and had wonderful suggestions for me. I quickly chose a few oysters while I decided what I was going to have and then after her description of the shrimp and grits I said I must have it. She did not lie at all. It was probably one of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had in my entire life. The flavor was off the charts. There was wonderful texture inside the dish, which is really hard to do in this type of preparation and everything was cooked perfectly. By the way, the oysters were fresh, shucked properly, thank goodness, and served with anything I could need. This really is a wonderful spot. If you are in town and you have one night out and want something really good, this is it. If you live here, please go there for me. It was great.

On our way from Chicago to the Florida Keys, we stopped at this little local place. What a…read morepleasant surprise J's Hole in the Wall turned out to be. As you walk in the door, you are welcomed in to a cozy little space with 6-8 tables. The room is covered from floor to ceiling in wood paneling and makes for a very warm and homey feeling. From a cleanliness standpoint, you could eat off the floor. The menu was broad and contained all sorts of Southern favorites, ranging from BBQ pork, to smoked chicken, to seafood, to burgers, to hotdogs. All of the items were extremely reasonably priced with large sandwiches around $4.50, full dinner plates for around $8.50, and kids meals for around $3.50. As seafood seemed to be their specialty, I went with the fried catfish plate. It came with two sides, so I chose fried okra and slaw. I also received 4 hush puppies as part of my meal as well. The meal came with 5 large strips of fresh catfish, masterfully breaded in a light cornmeal batter and perfectly fried. Catfish can often have an overpowering flavor, but this catfish was incredibly mild. The fried okra, hush puppies, and slaw were delectable and well portioned. Couple that with a legit sweet tea and I was all in $8.95. My wife had a smoked chicken sandwich that was truly unique. Normally smoked chicken is of the shredded variety; this was whole slices of chicken breast. The chicken had a great taste and was served with a unique hot sauce that perfectly complimented the chicken and slaw that was served on top of the sandwich. Total - $4.50. In summary, J's Hole in the Wall was a great choice. They served delicious food at a great value with a smile. You could tell this was a locals' place as almost everyone there seemed to be a regular. If you are on I-24 passing between Nashville and Chattanooga, this place is worth a short detour!

The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, and I believe there's also a bar area. We were seated right away, which was a great start. Their menu has a little bit of everything, from appetizers and gumbo to customizable seafood boils with different seasoning and spice options. Before our meal, they brought out their cheesy crab bread, and unfortunately I didn't snap a picture because we all devoured it within minutes. It was that good! I ordered a half pound of crawfish, a half pound of snow crab legs, and a lobster tail with the Cajun seasoning, "Make It Hot." Everything was delicious! The snow crab legs were packed with flavor, and I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the lobster tail--it was incredibly meaty, buttery, and cooked perfectly. The boil also came with sausage, corn, and potatoes, making it a hearty meal. I also have to give a shoutout to our server, Amanda. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. She checked on us often, cleared the table as we finished, and gave great recommendations when we had questions about the menu. If I ever find myself back in Tennessee, I'd definitely come back to Storming Crab!
