As usual, dining out for us requires a little more homework than simply deciding what sounds good. Between the two of us, we bring a tree nut allergy, Alpha-Gal syndrome, a gluten allergy and dairy sensitivity to the table -- with diabetes thrown in as the kicker, just in case ordering dinner was getting too easy. Our waiter seemed to genuinely understand the allergy issues and was confident in the restaurant's ability to accommodate them. He was friendly, helpful and made us comfortable with our choices. When you're dealing with actual food allergies, that confidence and knowledge matter. The dining room was spacious, clean and had a good casual barbecue atmosphere. Some of our favorites are the chicken wings and the veggie soup with rice noodles, but honestly, we don't believe you could go wrong ordering anything on the menu. You can tell that the food is homemade and prepared with care--and, without a doubt, with love. But as wonderful as the food is, what makes Pho An Vietnamese truly special is the family behind it. Their daughter, Lori, has made us feel welcome from the very beginning. From the first time she greeted us with that beautiful smile, we loved her! She has such a warm and caring personality, and the service she provides is always outstanding. She doesn't make you feel like you are simply a customer walking into a restaurant--she makes you feel like you are coming to visit family. And that same warmth can be felt throughout the entire restaurant. This family truly cares about the people who walk through their doors. Not my favorite, but better than some places I've been to. I ordered the deluxe combination pho. I always try the broth, virgin before adding sauces. I will tell you this, this broth was off the chain! Man was it good! The meats were pretty good. The tendon was so tender it was like taking a bite of Jell-O.
