I really hate having to write this review, but I am so disappointed in Raley's (specifically this location). Ok, I know a strike is going on at the moment, and wanted to drive by and see how it looked since I used to shop at this location a lot. I was so disappointed to find that Raley's had FIVE security guards in front. One of the security guards was getting in one of the strikers' face and cussing at him. How unprofessional! The strikers were Raley's employees...still telling people to have a good day, and one of the security guards was out there harassing these people. Raley's has brought these filthy people to their stores, and I don't think that spitting in the parking lot and starting fights is something I want when I walk in and out of the store (especially with Raley's prices!). This is not the family company that I've known and loved through the years. I hope they can get their shit together soon! read more

This particular store really needs a facelift and to be expanded. The deli is really lacking in the Ready-to-Eat food selection is pathetic, there's no hot food and nothing ever in Deli ever looks fresh. They could do away with the gift section or combine it with the floor space of floral section. Both taking too much space for the size of the store. They need a few adults in that store to manage it lot of young kids without any clue about customer service. read more

I've finally had it with one particular employee's attitude/behavior (dark, wavy hair, slightly heavy makeup). I should have written this a couple of years ago, but I kept giving this rude woman a "pass"-maybe she was having a bad day-but nope. She has a bad day EVERY day, apparently. Last year I was buying a flower bouquet, and attempting to use self-checkout. I had just left chemo, and wanted something to cheer me up. The self-checkout wasn't reading the sku. Mind you, I am standing DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF this woman that is standing at the "hub" of it all. I could have reached out and touched her, she was so close. She watched me attempt to scan my flowers over and over again...I even tried going the long way, and searching for it in the computer. I know the person manning that station gets the notification that there is an issue with one of the self-checkout machines...I'm pretty convinced she actually had a smirk on her face, while watching me struggle. I finally asked "can you help me??" She rolled her eyes, and said "hang on"...hang on for what??? You're literally standing there doing NOTHING. Pretty sure my bald head and sickly look was a dead giveaway for me being a cancer patient; and if you can be rude to a cancer patient, God help the healthy people that interact with this woman!! I left the store crying that day, and regret not complaining back then. Fast forward to yesterday. She was checking in the regular aisle, so of course, I went to the next one to avoid her. As my friendly checker is ringing up my groceries, I watch rude lady rolling her eyes @ her elderly customer...literally looking at the poor woman with complete disgust, talking down to her, and rolling her eyes a few more times. I couldn't BELIEVE she was doing that, and my heart broke for that poor elderly woman. I should have said something, and defended her. A good friend of mine shops here, and we were randomly talking about how much we love this store. She said "except for this one rude b@&)!", and I told her I knew EXACTLY who she was talking about! So clearly, this is just how this woman acts all day, every single day. Maybe she hates women, maybe she hates humans, maybe she hates her job-I don't know, and I don't care. Management should re-train her on guest services (although she doesn't even deserve to work there, IMO), before she's rude to the wrong person someday...and more people take their business elsewhere. read more

The ONE time I don't read the Yelp reviews before going somewhere and it could have helped me out a lot!!! Love that this Raley's has a Peet's Coffee inside complete with an actual sitting area, but I should have read the reviews to find out that there is a Chase Bank inside too! Because if I would have known, I would not have had to get in my car as soon as I was done shopping and drive down the street to... CHASE BANK. Opps... I do enjoy their Something Extra rewards because last time I checked my account for coupons I got FREE Dreyer's Outshine Fruit Bars and 30% off Raleys Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast. Wahoo! This location is super nice inside too (you would never know from the dated exterior) with updated decor and fancy lighting! They also always try to help you out to your car which can be either super helpful or awkward. The kind gesture is always appreciated though and doesn't go unnoticed! Last few times I've gone in there ordered a sandwich at the deli. Had no problems ordering a 12 inch sandwich. Besides new employees back there not sure what they're doing but still made a decent sandwich. Today I ask for a sandwich two older ladies behind the counter one says we don't sell 12 inch we only sell 6 inch You can order two 6 inch sandwiches. It just seems Raley's is always trying to scam you one way or another old food or super high prices or double pricing. read more

Love this place!! All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. They know all their customers and really do treat them like family. When I was taking care of my mom while she battled cancer, the ladies went over and above to help me. They battled the insurance company, found medication at another pharmacy when they didn't have what I needed in stock, & really supported me in every way they could. Since we live fairly close, this is our go-to grocery store for picking up a few things. We typically go to one of the membership warehouses for our larger/stock up items but will come to Raley's for other items. Good selection. Fruits and veggies are fresh but can be pricy if not on sale. Same with meats. There are both Peet's Coffee and Chase bank inside as well. Parking is plentiful and there is also a new eCart program where they will bring groceries that you pick out online right to your car! I haven't tried it yet but being a mom of 3, I think I'll be trying it out soon. Bottom line: A bit pricy but clean, comfortable and friendly. I'll be back. read more

This is a nice market with quality food. This review is really about the Seafood roadshow. I was looking forward to getting quality seafood for a good price and this was far from that. The seafood looked good but the price was crazy, $29.00 a pound for Chilean Sea Bass, come on, that is insane. I left and went to old reliable Whole Foods and got the same cut for $16.99 a pound. Love this store! I know the prices aren't the cheapest in town, but the atmosphere is so nice! It has a small town feel to this store. The employees are really nice, and always willing to strike up a conversation. The whole store just got reorganized. It's a bit confusing of a layout, but I still like it better than most stores in the area. The lighting in there is perfect. I feel safe in the parking lot which is huge to me when you're a women making those late evening purchases. They just started a rewards system. Every time you shop you accrue points. At the end of a quarter they send you a voucher which you can use towards your next shopping trip. $5.00 for every 500 points. I just wanted to add that I was there during the strike. Many of the picketers weren't even employees of the store. They were union workers who were retired and came specifically for the strike. Those guys were a little pushy at times. Employees were always kind to tbe customers and thanked people for shopping there throughout the strike. The strike ended and the employees say they were pleased with the outcome of the talks. read more

Mainly go to the raley's on watt and marconi, but they got this new catering service called Nob Hill Trading Co, and their food is really quite spectacular for stuff you put in the microwave for 4 minutes. My favorites are the Salmon Teriyaki and Lemon Tilapia, it really tast good enough to be from a semidecent restaurant. read more

We have been shopping at this store since it first opened many years ago. We like Raleys, especially for their friendly employees. There are always baggers available to take your groceries to the car, especially for seniors like us. The staff is helpful and will go out of their way to help you find an item, even walk you to the actual location. We like the produce department as well as the deli for the selection of cheeses. In the bakery department, we love the apple finger streusels, the small croissants and their lemon meringue pies. I also noticed for the first time that Raleys had a display of Free Fruit for children under 12. I am assuming that this is only during the holidays but it's a great idea to give free fruit instead of candy for children. read more

I've noticed the customer service progressively has gone down at this location. With the addition of self checkout, customers are forced to self check despite employees being at a central desk. Today, I am delayed by some self checkout glitch that would have been avoided if they provided customer service and checked groceries at one of the standard checkout lanes. None of the employees seemed to know a solution until they got someone from the back. She questioned whether my gift card had any balance (it was full) and ultimately (20 minutes after I started my checkout), it was resolved and the card processed. They encourage self checkout before 8 am but will take larger orders in the usual lanes. But what is the threshold? And why not offer the service if an employee is available? I think I'll be taking my shopping elsewhere. read more

I will miss coming to this location when I move. The prices are high so I don't grocery shop here but I do buy a special select few items. One of those items are the mini blueberry muffins. I am a sucker for mini blueberry muffins and with a severe nut allergy afraid of most bakeries this one is fine and dandy. I have never had one issue at all eating these mini muffins. I also sometimes will pick up an Italian combo sandwich from the deli area for the man who loves his salami and pepperoni. It is a quick stop fix. I will miss going there for the muffins, especially. read more

I go to this location co'z it's closer to where I live. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help. Yes, the prices are quite higher than other grocery stores but I think it's worth it considering you don't have to wait in line that long, there's always someone to ask for help which makes grocery shopping easier. This location also have Peet's Coffee Shop and Chase Bank inside the store. And oh, FREE WiFi available too. You can check your email, facebook, check-in on Foursquare or Yelp, or check on recipes while shopping. Lastly, they now have a Loyalty Rewards called "Something Extra". You earn points every time you shop on most products they sell and every quarter, they send you a voucher based on the points you earned. There are also coupons available to redeem on your "Something Extra" account.... all you have to do is to sign in to your account and redeem those coupons. =) read more

Please train your staff. I am currently training them. We just recently moved into the area, and learning to navigate a new grocery store is a challenge. Sometimes you find an employee and you think "Great! They will know where the capers are in this store!" Only, they don't. And the guy who stocks the dairy doesn't know if the store carries almond milk creamer. I showed him where it was. Out of 10 times I have been in the store, I think I have asked for assistance 5 times, and the employee takes their best guess at where something is, and they don't walk you over to where they think it might be. If they aren't 100% sure, they should at least walk the person there so you BOTH learn. The Raley's on Marconi must have better management/leadership, because we never had this issue the 12 years I shopped there. Often the employees here are talking to one another, and uninterested in the customers that are the reason they have a job. One word: PROFESSIONALISM. Please take it up a notch. read more

Their service has never been bad but it's also never been excellent. There is a slew of wealthy clientele that flocks to this supermarket given it's prestigious location. It's close to the homes on the river and so you get THOSE type of people. I feel a little out of place here if I need to run somewhere quickly to grab an item but I'm dressed grungey that morning. I usually use the self- checkout but the store was quiet this evening and there was no line for a cashier named Elija. I didn't really notice at first that he never addressed me until he was bagging my groceries and I commented on how empty the store was and I asked if it had been busier earlier in the day. He completely ignored me, refusing to look at me or say anything. I was surprised, then he handed me my receipt without a word ever being spoken. It was so weird that I hesitated and heard the next customer say to him "hi, how are you this evening, sir?". Elija refused to speak to him too! I'm not going to lie, it left a bad feeling in me. Save yourselves and use the self-check, the computer there has more customer service skills and personality than Elija. read more

Would be 5 if it wasn't for the Meat Department. All the Cashiers and other staff are wonderful I'm always shocked every time I'm forced to go to the meat counter. Almost openly hostile at worst at the best sullenly withdrawn..every.. single.. time, It's weird, just that one department is that way every other department is excellent. The store is great besides that, I have no idea how their attitude keeps sliding there without management doing something about it. I've been coming to this store for years because it's close to my house; however I think I'm going to stop. First of all the prices here are way too high. If you compare them to other other grocery stores such as Save Mart, and Walmart they are priced at least $1-2 dollars higher than them. Take soda for example $6.49 for a 12 pack at Walmart it's $4.49 and at Walgreens is $3.75 per 12pk.. Their meat is okay nothing to brag about. Today I was in line and they had a checker with couldn't even count. I mean the girl wanted twenty back and $5 dollars in pennies. Common sense tells you that she wants a total of $25 however this particular person could not figure it out and kept us in line for a little over 10 minutes (and might I add this line was 10 items or less). So I think it's time to separate Raley's hopefully you'll stop being a greedy company and price your food correctly instead of ripping off the community for which your store is located (Fair Oaks and Walnut). I seem to go to this store at least 3 times a week if not more....I can't seem to plan my weekly needs well enough to limit my return trips. I think the employees here are some of the best people. I don't think I have ever had a clerk that was not pleasant and helpful. The young baggers are really a very unique group of individuals who also have smile on their faces and have a great gift for conversation without being imposing. There was one young man the other day, that really touched my heart....we were talking about the fourth of July and I was jabbering about my family, etc. etc. and suddenly, I realized his fourth was probably not the greatest but he was being a good sport and saying that although he did not do anything special , it was really okay. I miss Raley's. They are my favorite grocery store. It's hard to find one in the Bay Area, but once I found one in Fremont. Nevertheless, I can't go to this Raley's without seeing someone I know. I LOVE that! It's like the neighborhood shopping center. It's clean, it's friendly, and they make a killer tri-tip in the summer. This location also has a Java City and a Wells Fargo in it. Im very happy with the customer service here. All the employees walk by and how your day is. Theyre usually smiling all the time. One person id like to point out is JOYCE at the deli. My sister and i go to her all the time. She always makes sure that our order is correct and she always bags our sandwiches. Other people dont. Our sandwiches always come out perfect. Shes always so nice and always thanks us for waiting for her. She is definitely part of the reason my sister and i come back almost every weekend, maybe even more than that sometimes. read more

I've been shopping here regularly since I moved to this area, about 15 years ago. I started because it's close to my house, but now can't imagine doing most of my grocery shopping anywhere else. There's a family-type feel here, it's nice seeing the same faces and chatting while checking out. Yes it's more expensive for some things, but they have great sales and the new Something Extra program is awesome. You'll get cash back to spend at the store just for shopping there. Also I've got free products and discounts on items through the SE program as well. $5 Monday's are a must! They used to have wine tasting on Friday evenings...not sure if this is still going on as I haven't heard much lately. If not I hope they bring it back. I've been know to need to "shop" on Friday evening then coming home with a bottle of wine I sampled! A great neighborhood grocery store with customer service to match. read more

I am new to Carmichael and I have to say the customer service at this Raleys is outstanding! I have been in the store about 5 times so far and have always been greeted with a friendly face. The meat counter has always suggested cooking tips or let me know if there was a special they thought I would be interested in. The deli counter is also VERY friendly. They are not the cheapest in town but the food and people are high quality. read more

Anita is always pushy always rude never smiles, makes you feel like an idiot and is straight up awful to have the company to be around. If i go in and see Anita working i leave and come back when someone else is their because it is that awful. I only use this pharmacy because its the closest to my house and the second closest dose not take my insurance. My advice don't use this location if you don't have to. read more
