I had a colonoscopy at Raleigh Endoscopy Center on April 29, 2025, and the way this facility handled my billing was completely unacceptable. This was supposed to be a routine preventive screening -- my last colonoscopy was almost 10 years ago, I had zero symptoms, and I only did it because their office repeatedly reminded me that I was due. The operative report itself states the procedure was done for screening, not because of any medical problem. Yet Raleigh Endoscopy Center submitted diagnostic codes to BCBS, which automatically triggered a denial. When I contacted BCBS, they explained very clearly that the only reason this was not covered is because the provider coded it wrong -- and that the claim could be fixed if the center simply corrected the coding. When I asked Raleigh Endoscopy Center to correct the coding, they flat-out refused. No explanation, no willingness to review the documentation, no interest in helping resolve the issue they caused. They simply pushed the entire problem onto the patient. To make matters worse, they never informed me before the procedure that they would code it in a way that BCBS would not cover. No warning, no disclosure, no conversation -- nothing. Had they told me, I would have asked questions or rescheduled. Instead, I was blindsided with more than $1,500 in bills for a preventive screening that should have been covered at 100%. The clinical staff were fine, but the billing and coding department showed terrible communication, zero accountability, and a complete disregard for patients. Once they have your money, they do not seem to care about fixing their mistakes. A simple 10-year screening turned into months of stress, appeals, and wasted time -- all because Raleigh Endoscopy Center refuses to correct an obvious coding error. If you choose this center, be extremely careful. Double-check every code, every form, and every insurance detail, because if they make a mistake, they will not fix it -- and you will be the one paying for it. read more

I went here to get some work done. Now I'm a private individual, and so is my family. While there they were asking about family history. I was telling them I didn't know a lot of stuff about my family Nevada we don't talk about our issues. The RN. said we "were dysfunctional" How am I dysfunctional because I choose not to have all my information discussed on Social Media, or in church? Then the nurse went on to tell my ride that we were dysfunctional, and discussed my care with them after I said I didn't want her to. Is that a HIPAA violation of what. I was very nervous about my procedure as it was a first for me. The staff from the moment I arrived to leaving were so courteous and welcoming. The Raleigh Endoscopy Center consultants are knowledgeable and helpful, always able and happy to answer my questions. Recommend if you could have a good allergy which you'll find out after an endoscopy is done. From experience I found out I had a dairy allergy so I can only have almond milk. Worth doing if you think you might have an allergy you don't know about. Quick and pain free since your put to sleep during the procedure. read more

I was very worried about going in especially having to go in alone without my husband due to covid! However, every single person there was so comforting and helpful! I was pretty scared for my first colonoscopy. Everyone at this center was an absolute delight. From the the check in folks to the nurses to the anesthesiologist to my fabulous doctor. Each person made a point to explain every step of what I would be experiencing. Everyone was friendly and upbeat. Their jokes keep me feeling at ease. The procedure itself was a breeze. If you are due for a colonoscopy, please don't put it off! It's not scary, it doesn't hurt, and it could save your life! read more

Too many people sitting in waiting room and not everyone wearing mask at Raleigh endoscopy center in cary. Also hate their policy of must have person waiting whole time there in waiting room during procedure. Covid hazard for sure with so many people in small space. No thanks! Im from out of state & never heard of that policy before. Especially since covid. Used a driver service at my out of state surgery center to make sure you're there on time & picked up when finished with nobody in waiting room or very limited people. First colonoscopy - Excellent experience from the Check-in to leaving. Arrived at 6:45 and was out of there by 8:30. Dr Ruth Mokeba had a great bedside manner and the staff was very professional and knowledgeable - keeping me informed the whole time. Even for check-in, I was in the lobby less than 10 minutes before heading to the back. Highly recommended and ask for the Sutabs instead of the drink for the Prep! read more

Terrible. Nasty front desk. Party like noises/voices/laughter in the pre op area. Everything signed on a computer pad, so I could not confirm what I was signing. Totally unprofessional. My practitioner is wonderful. I hope she will go to another facility if I need another procedure. read more

Scheduling a routine colonoscopy with Cary Gastro was ridiculously difficult with this group. Phone calls not returned. No responses or calls back at odd hours with a quick voicemail. Finally had my physician reach out again before they responded even after 2 referrals were sent. They would not return calls about prep and waited until right before the procedure to finally call it in. I have special restrictions that needed to be managed. They did not call in what I requested. Procedure was ultimately done at 1505 SW Cary Parkway and reminds me of a third world medical setting with curtains for a large number of people. Creepy. The nurse, Jennifer, put in my IV and was really rough. I have had a lot of pain from the IV and I'm not unfamiliar with pain or needles. Joint injections hurt less. She just kept telling me not to move even after it was set and I complained about the pain. Not moving at is not reasonable. All of this while I'm being asked bunches of rapid fire questions from another lady. The final recovery crew and anesthesia professional was better, but I highly recommend you stay away from this center. Expect more from your medical care than this. I vote "no confidence"! I wish I had pushed for a different group from the beginning. I would gladly have driven to North Raleigh for a better experience. No more referrals to any of these groups for me. read more

My husband and I came to the location off of Atrium for his colonoscopy. I had just had a COVID test -- but I could not wait in the waiting room, even though there were numerous chairs available that had been blocked off from others. It is a 3-hour long wait during which you have to be there. NOTHING was said pre-appointment about this rule, or else we would have thought it through. "Where can I go?" I said. I was told that I could wait in my car, in the noisy building lobby where people were coming and going, some without masks, or just go to one of the restaurants down the road. I told them that I couldn't go to the restaurant because of COVID, and couldn't wait in my car for that length of time because I needed to prop my sprained ankle up. No matter. Rules are rules, said the intransigent woman at the front. Here I am then. In the lobby. My ankle is propped up, but it's terrible, noisy, and I might get COVID. This place sucks. No concern for patients OR their familes. read more

I have been dealing with doctors here for years. Recently I made an appt to follow up on my numerous hospitalizations for gastrointestinal medical issues, including gall bladder removal. I really like the doctors, but the staff is dishonest: they made appointments for procedures I was not scheduled for and were not requested and could not be performed at that location. They could not read my chart correctly and did not even have procedure dates correct and were missing appointments I was at, saying there was never an appt, even though I can produce the receipt showing I was there. The office manager defended her staff by repeating the innacuracies even in light of proof to the contrary. No doctor in the world can be effective if their staff is incompetent, I can no longer assume that doctor has the correct information about my health. read more

Had a colonoscopy done and they never sent me a bill. They only sent me a past due notice. They even admitted to me this was the case. When I called to find out why the customer service person was rude and talked over me. They messed up the billing the last time I had a colonoscopy done as well. I won't be going back. read more

Be cautious about their billing. We had everything pre-approved via insurance and their three different business entities - yes, you will get three different bills. And they completely changed what they billed us post procedure. Ended up costing over $1400 for a relatively simple procedure, when the told us prior to the procedure we were totally covered - would not cost a thing. We worked closely with them and insurance companies prior to the procedure to get everything squared away. And they would not respond when we questioned them - as their billing is done out of state - so they take no responsibility for it. And instead of discussing they refer to you a collection agency. If I could give a negative star, a black hole, I would. You sign your life away. The business aspect of this place is in the dark ages. I shouldn't have to sign my name to 25 different items for THIER liability protection. I shouldn't have to repeat my history after I already submitted it prior to the appointment as instructed. Get your systems connected. HIPAA is a joke as there is not an ounce of privacy between curtained stalls. I heard the name and whole history of my neighbor. I shouldn't have to call the lab courier to pick up my specimen at a designated place and time. I should be able to choose the lab of my choice based on my quality standards and not be treated like a second class citizen. The anesthesiologist sees herself as superior and I didn't appreciate her rude comeback to me when I expressed a concern. As a patient, I was treated rudely, inconvenienced with repeated questions and signature requests, while my requests and concerns were constantly denied or minimized. You are better going in there without any brains and following along like a little child. That's what they expect and want. No wonder fewer people trust healthcare and medicine. Except for a couple of really nice nurses, every one else acted like they were doing me a favor. read more

Everyone, from the reception desk staff to the nursing and anesthesia professionals, to the physicians were careful and thorough, obviously competent, and compassionate. I've had numerous procedures done with this group and have never had a bad experience with them. They usually take me in early for my appointments, allow me plenty of time to change clothes, and give me extra warm blankets while I get prepped. The doctor sees me before I go to the procedure, as do the anastheiseologists and any accompanying nurses. Afterward, the nurses ensure that you're ok to stand and walk and then send you home with whoever is driving you. I've never had any incorrect billing issues with this group and cannot think of a single bad thing to say about them read more

Very impersonal. Clearly many patients are scheduled for the same time slot. Reception staff are abrupt. Theception staff advise patients drivers that they cannot leave the premises, as if the driver is hostage for an hour or two & can't leave to get food or coffee while waiting. Receptionist advises drivers "they will not administer anesthesia if driver leaves for coffee". They take the drivers phone number. read more

There are three locations, I would absolutely not recommend the North Raleigh (Health Park Dr.) location to anyone. The anesthesiologist (I believe his name was Frank) was the rudest medical practitioner I've ever had the displeasure to come across. My mother had been waiting over an hour for her procedure (it happens, that's fine), so I went back to give her my Kindle to play a game and give her some company. The anesthesiologist comes up, and my mom said, "Oh, is it time? Should I shut my little game down?" Him: "Um, if you actually want to do what you came here for. I think it's more important than a silly game. Ridiculous." My Mother: "Oh, I'm sorry, it's just been over an hour, I didn't know if it was actually time, or if this was more prep." Him: Well, I'm your anesthesiologist. Sometimes we run late. It happens, we plaster a smile on our faces and deal with it, don't we? Mother: *taken aback* Oh, especially if you're my anesthesiologist, I don't want to get off on the wrong foot here. *hands a magazine that she had been reading before to me to put back on the shelf.* Him: Oh, you're reading our trashy magazines too, huh? Well, we're not on the wrong foot, lets just get going...is that ok with you?? I have NEVER been so furious with the rudeness of someone who was about to hold my loved one's life in their hands. I will be filing a complaint against him. When my mother was in tears from cramping afterwards, the doctor happily told her she looked like she was feeling better. The experience was SO bad, in fact, that she's said she'll never have one again, regardless of the 10 year rule that they've given her. read more

I wish I could give this place a negative star review. So I'll settle with a 1. The day I show up, the computer systems are down, they couldn't check me in. They had no records of me filling out the forms they sent me. They then didn't update my HIPPAA information so they can speak to my wife. - They TRIPLE BILLED ME for the same procedure. They coded the work they did completely wrong. Sent me a bill for $2800 which was to be covered by my insurance, but since they coded it wrong, I got stuck with the whole bill. - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC says that the latest law that went into effect, shows this procedure as being preventative, and paid at 100% - Raleigh Endoscopy is unaware of this. - All they had to do was change the code to preventative, and it would be covered 100% - I can't get the same person on the phone, they gave me a number to call back, with the name of Angela. I call back and they inform me that there is no "Angela". - 100% incompetent staff. Their computer systems are a joke and won't stay running. DO NOT.... I Repeat.... with highest of warnings..... DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY SORT OF COLONOSCOPY PROCEDURE. - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. You can heed my warning, or go here, and it will cost you THOUSANDS of dollars in incorrect fees. Triple billing, and nobody to straighten things out. - The actual Colonoscopy was effortless. But their business? A joke. Utter joke. You've been warned. read more

My colonoscopy was great and I would highly recommend Dr. Miller, but I could not say worse things about the billing department with Raleigh Endoscopy. It blows my mind that my procedure was on March 8th, 2019 and it's January 5th, 2020 and I am still dealing in the middle of the billing department and my insurance company. It all started when I told Raleigh Endoscopy that I had switched employers and insurance companies a week before my procedure and of course they filed with the wrong insurance company despite me giving them my new cards before my colonoscopy. Once they refilled with the right insurance company, I have no idea what in the world has been going on for months between the two parties, but it's a monthly call that I'm having to make to my insurance company where they say I'm not having to owe anything or it's the not the amount Raleigh Endoscopy says that I owe and I am still 10 months later still dealing with this mess. Beyond frustrated doesn't even begin to cover it and even though I love Dr. Miller I will NEVER go here again or recommend this place to anyone because of the nightmare they have put me through. The sedation company (Raleigh Sedation Associates) at the Raleigh Endoscopy Center DOES NOT accept United Healthcare insurance. UHC will not pay for sedation services as they are out-of-network. This is over 2K bill for sedation! They switched sedation providers in October 2017. My husband had a colonoscopy done in November 2017. I called Raleigh Endoscopy Center about this and they said it was the patient responsibility to check to see if insurance would cover services provided at the facility. However, the lady I spoke with said that they were told when they switched that Raleigh Sedation would be in-network. My husband looked through the paperwork he received from our doctor (Cary Gastro Associates) and nothing mentioned Raleigh Sedation Associates. The facility did tell us upon arrival the morning of the procedure we would be getting three separate bills but nothing about calling to verify insurance. Disappointed that Raleigh Endoscopy would change sedation companies knowing they don't cover patients under a huge healthcare provider. Very dishonest and deceptive. read more

I had a endoscopy and colonoscopy performed here. I really wasn't expecting the emergency room setup they have. The staff is great and my doc is awesome but as far as the room, there is none but the procedure room. You get a curtain enclosed area to wait and recover in. I was told to get dress within ten mins after my procedures was finished. I remember walking in the parking lot barely awake. In and out is what you will experience, which isn't too bad. read more
