This company is the BEST in all of California. Phil designed an outdoor kitchen that is absolutely BEAUTIFUL His crews are fantastic and always showed up on time. I would highly recommend hiring Phil Raynal and RALconstruction for any outdoor space you may be thinking of creating. Phil had the vision and design we didn't know we needed. Love having a new space for entertaining or just being outside enjoying family, friends and neighbors. Bob and Darby Isenberg read more

Great quality. Scott was experienced and very accommodating. Not pushy at all. Price point seemed good. Would recommend to anyone

The patio of our new home faces west/southwest and the patio gets very hot, to the point we couldn't be out there. Phil and his team installed his product "Patio Bra" as a curtain. It works GREAT! Took our patio from unusable to enjoyable. We liked it so much, we had him install a second one at our vacation home. Great job Phil!!! read more

We had solid sunroof canopies put over our deck and front yard. I couldn't be happier. The carpenter did very fine work; everything looks like it was an original part of the house. 'Can' lights set in both offer a new level of convenience and sophistication as do the all-weather sun drapes around the deck. Fair prices and fine workmanship done surprisingly quickly. Our house is better than it was. I highly recommend RAL Builders. read more

They did a super job installing my patio screen. There initially was an issue on the measurements, but they quickly adjusted the order and installed. Couldn't be more pleased. I really wanted a screen with a door and I'm thrilled with it. read more

We used RAL for our patio cover installation. Scott came out and provided a detailed quote along with giving recommendations. Once we had time to think about it with no pressure, I reached back out and agreed to proceed...he immediately came back out with the drawing to sign the contract and made the process super easy. He gave me timelines and what to expect. We were mailed a "welcome" packet about 2 weeks later with the RAL promise etc (we found this to be very professional and going the extra mile). After the build was done we had electrical complete the project a few days later and we are super happy with the end product. I would highly recommend RAL! read more

RAL Builders installed our patio cover . Both crews were on time, very professional , organized and work like a well oiled machine. The installation crew showed up at 9:30am and was done by 3:30. They left the property cleaner than when they showed up. Larry the electrician was just as awesome. read more

Scott offered some good options for our patio cover project with no pressure tactics.

So happy with our three-sided patio curtains. It really protects the blazing sun on our rear patio, making it usable at all times of day. Love the color, the ability to see through the fabric and enjoy our landscaping, Responsive sales person (Scott) and great installation crew. Highly recommend this team - a little pricey for the curtains, but so worth it! read more

We've had a wonderful experience with RAL Builders. The owner, Phil, came out to look at our space and discuss our needs and wants. He came back with a proposal that included three different design options, including one that dealt with our challenges very creatively. We chose the more expensive option, because it addressed all our concerns and because the price difference wasn't actually that big. Service was great. They originally had estimated a 6-week lead time before our project would be started, but they ended up having an opening in their schedule and they were here within a week of signing the papers to begin installation. The bulk of the job was done by a two-man crew, lead by Brian, and.they were very courteous and patient with our questions. It took about a week to install the patio cover (with two ceiling fans and dimmable rope lights around the perimeter), and it turned out beautifully. We love it and can hardly wait for nicer weather so we can enjoy it more. I strongly recommend RAL. This is not one of those companies that only installs square or rectangular, snap-together, cookie-cutter shade structures. This is a company that provides creative, custom solutions at a fair price and with excellent service. read more

Couldn't be happier with our patio cover and with Phil and his team at RAL builders. Every step of the process was seamless, from the initial visit, quote, design, and construction. Great communication throughout, always willing to re-work a design or suggest a different solution to get us the perfect cover for our yard and use. The result is everything we wanted, and the work was done for a fair price and on time. We talked to 5-6 patio companies before we decided to go with Phil and I'm glad we did. They nailed all of the big stuff and the little things - like crews that leave their work space as clean or cleaner than when they arrived. His team clearly takes pride in their work. Would recommend him to any of our friends - and already have. read more

We LOVE our new fan pergola !!!!! We had a 20 year old wood pergola in our backyard. This needed replacing. This old pergola was built on four large round columns made of concrete which we wanted to keep. We also wanted to install an outdoor fan on this new pergola. We had gone to the home show in Sacramento looking for this type of vendor. We were surprised to learn that the material they use is metal not wood. It's painted to look like wood. It looks like wood! No maintenance just hose it down when necessary. We contacted three companies for bids, our last bid was from Phil from R.A.L. Builders. Phil came out brought various samples of his product. Phil was very professional & pleasant no high pressure. It took a day and a half to demolish and rebuild. The workers were very pleasant and cleaned up after themselves. I recommend R.A.L. Builders. read more

Our experience with RAL has been excellent. Rich came out and designed a large patio cover with lattice edging and two fans as well as a smaller pergola for over the bbq area. Rich did not just get the design done and disappear. He supported us through out the process and helped us creatively resolve problems created by another contractor doing our bbq build. It was important to him that we get a product we are happy with and he has gone above and beyond for us. The crew has done a great job with the build. I highly recommend them. Thanks Rich! read more

The owner is very responsive and personable. RAL delivers good quality at a reasonable fee.

Recently RAL Builders installed our patio cover/car port. The overall experience was exceptional. The installation team worked seamlessly together and had it up in record time. There was not a thing to clean up afterwards. The electrician was very nice and also very competent. Whenever we had questions we received an immediate answer or response from the very friendly and competent office staff. Would definitely recommend this company and do business with them in the future. We love the patio cover, it exceeded our expectations! read more

My wife and I are very happy with the job and materials of our backyard cover. Rich was our designer and representative. He listened well and helped us place the posts so not to obstruct our windows or planned fountain. His added touch called "Rich's detail" is a must! His crew that arrives later to put the cover together and the electrician Larry are masters of their trade. The work is solid and I would recommend them to my friends and family. read more

They installed some rails and curtains less than a year ago for a hefty amount of money so my wife could keep teaching piano during the lockdown (outdoor but still somewhat warm and protected). Monday after a little wind one of the rails fell and they are not answering the phone at all - super poor customer service. Not even sure they are still in business. Buyer beware! read more

My wife and I wanted more shade on our patio. We called RAL Builders, and Phil came out to measure the space and provide us with patio cover options. After 25yrs, our old wooden patio cover needed to be replaced. We had (4) contractors quote the project and R.A.L. Builders' quote was comparable with cost and materials. When the construction of our hardscape began earlier then we planned, R.A.L. worked great with our landscape contractor. Rich was able to get the necessary building permits submitted, inspections scheduled and patio cover ordered and installed, without holding up construction of our hardscape. R.A.L. Builders were dependable, knowledgeable and professional. read more

Do not use these people if you want a quality patio cover that does not leak or pool water in the center. They do not stand behind their products at all. Installation and material is crap. They will lie straight to your face and tell you a brand new cover leaking is natural and water pool in center not draining is no problem. Horrible company with liars working for the. Avoid these people at all costs. read more

We used RAL to build a large, pricey patio cover using the Equinox louvre product. The end product looked great, and Phil was reasonable to work with during the process. There were some hiccups along the way, but nothing unexpected since we have previous experience building 2 custom homes and we fully understand that things happen. The BIG problem arose when the patio was completed and the winter rains came. The patio cover was supposed to block the rain water and keep things dry. Unfortunately there were persistent leaks that RAL tried to seal but were not successful. This caused the electrical system to corrode. The ceiling fans and canned lights have never worked properly. Larry the electrician was great and he tried to help, but the leaks could not be successfully resolved by Phil despite a couple of attempts to seal it. The last time that I contacted Phil to seal the patio (yet again) was in Feb 2020. He didn't respond. I waited patiently til Aug 2020 to contact him again. His response was " it's not a big deal. I'm not going to schedule an appointment to have that taken care of. I'm going to wait for one of my guys to get done early one day and go over there." I texted him saying that I would like to be put on his schedule and he refused. Since I paid over $80,000 for this patio, I called him to get an appointment. He completely lost his composure, cursing repeatedly on the phone, angrily yelling at/to me while he blasted the economy, and laying out some of his personal woes. I was in total shock that he could unleash such furor and vitriol at me. All I wanted was to book an appointment. He apologized profusely to me after I said that I have the right as a consumer to write a review. Ultimately I told him that I don't want him and his anger to come back to my property. Good luck with everything Phil, and I mean that sincerely. read more

I cannot honestly give RAL Builders a positive review as my experience with them on every aspect of the job was very disappointing starting with their sales rep. Scott Trojanowski. I justified the very pricy cost because Scott offered a 15-Year warranty and that was appealing to me. Not so, the company would not stand behind their word and that a 5-Year warranty was all they would offer. I left several messages with the office to follow up on a schedule date and never got a call back. I had to initiate another call to set up the installation date and when I questioned the warrant again, I could not get a straight answer. I also found the owner, Phil, to be condescending he said, "his sales rep Scott was mistaken that he made an error"! To appease me Phil (the Owner of R.A.L) said, he would extend the 5-Year warranty to a 7-Year Warranty but somehow, I don't believe he will stand behind his word! Between Scott, the office ladies and Phil. . . . I honestly don't trust or believe anything they say. The installation was adequate, it will do the job. read more

I have had owners apologize for the poor service in the past and I have corrected or noted that in my review. This owner only cares about about defending himself with un-truths from his people. Amazing. Fact is the drawing has placement of the electrical box on it from the beginning. We called many times to get movement on the drawing and electrical or find out what is going on. The only halt we put on it was to get an approval letter in writing from our association, which is normal procedure. RAL telling us not to worry about it and they have a verbal ok? Them saying I refused to get an electrical permit? Scary. read more

I highly recommend this company! We just finished a redesign of our backyard including a pool and free standing patio cover. The patio cover was the easiest part of the entire project because RAL was on top of things from the beginning and patient with the lengthy pool construction process. Rich was our contact and is very detail oriented. He spent a lot of time with us so we understood the product, and he was always on time for meetings and easily reachable by phone/text. The construction crew was also on time, courteous and got the job done quickly, but with quality. A gentlemen from the company came into my home to give me an estimate. I told him that I was shopping around and was just getting quotes and information. He acted like he knew everything and that I was being crazy shopping around. My husband came home and was listening to my conversation with him, but looking at the TV, he had the audacity to say " you are not paying attention thus you are not interested" The conversation was with me not my husband. Second, at the end I had asked for my quote and he said " You guys don't want this, it is too high" Who the hell is he to come into my home, tell me what I can and cannot afford. I am a smart shopper and yes I will look at 5 companies and compare before I finalize, and that may be this company and may not be, but for someone to come into my home and tell me that you can't do this cause its too high - is down right rude! Wonder if the initial experience is like this then how would it be going forward. read more
