There's not much privacy so when you're undressing, you better hope that there's not someone walking past cause they can obviously see you through the thin curtains. The environment had roaches in the bathroom. It was rough. The services were OK maybe a 7-8/10. I tipped 20% just to get my debt card back and leave. I won't be coming back here because how awkward, tacky, and unprofessional my experience was. Responding to the "owner" below: I know how to do math. Therapist got 20$ cash (broken from $100) after refusing to accept my 13$ tip. I paid 105$ on my card -- I even went as far as to show your therapist the math on a calculator on my phone to try to communicate the reasoning behind my tipping. You left your therapist out to dry instead of trying to help communicate to her, you walked away. Customary tipping in the United States is between 12-15% aka $12.50 - $15.75. This is supplementally to their hourly wage. Trust me I'm not anti-tipping, I just don't agree with how I was mistreated. For outstanding service: then the tipping would be 15-20%. Which by the way, after you three harassed me your therapist STILL got $20 just for me get out of the establishment -- so good on you for making people feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, your therapist still got what she requested, so remind me what the issue is? Furthermore, $20 USD is equivalent to ¥136.57 CNY and ¥ 3143.71 JPY as of closing today, which is well over what the standard wage within both those economies. Also -- why are we quoting ¥ when I paid in USD -- are customers suppose to be paying in different currency? Totally fine if we are but I was not made aware of that and it seems you and your therapist got a fair compensation per USD and ¥ standards. I'm a business owner too -- and my employees see tips as just extras because of their proper compensation, I do that intentionally so situations like this don't put my customers or employees in an uncomfortable situation. The conversation would have been different if you and your staff weren't so rude. If you read the review thoroughly you would see that the issue wasn't the therapist's service per say. The issue was the following in more detail, since a simple "sorry for your bad experience" is no longer a thing and you've insulted me -- the customer: - it seems like accountability is a new concept to you -- meanwhile you left your therapist to fend for herself with her bad attitude and not knowing how to communicate with the customer. Her desperation for an additional $5 is alarming, which is where the comment of "IF SHE EVEN GETS AN HOURLY WAGE" came from. This whole experience must have been stressful for her too especially without proper training or support. - Interesting how the male client that walked in while I was at the front trying to pay and leave was treated much differently. ALSO, interesting how you felt the need to respond to my review when there was another negative review right below this one. I wouldn't go as far as to say sexist and racist behavior -- but this response shows for itself. - AND be sure to properly display the licenses of your establishment AND your therapists' licenses from the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) at the front of the establishment. "...massage therapists must display their original CAMTC certificate (not a copy) in a conspicuous, public place at their workplace. This is typically in the reception, waiting area, or a visible location at the entrance" THIS IS THE LAW and I certainly didn't see any of the many therapists' state issued licenses anywhere in the common areas. - the questionable working environment with employees napping and bugs in the facility is the least of the issues, although upsetting is fixable. I fear this place has other more important issues to address. - the ATROCIOUS behavior you all exhibited in response and your therapist's harassment. We had a schedule: 3:30-4:30PM 60 min headspa, 4:30-5 buffer time if things run late, drive home, 5:15-5:45 get ready, 5:45 leave, arrive for proposal at 6:15PM to make sunset at 6:30PM. My friend's now-fiance called Blue Moon the week prior to set-up an appointment and let the technicians know. He was even able to pay ahead of time for us through Zelle. He said the ladies were super nice and mentioned they'd give the best technician to my friend since it was her special day. A day or two leading up to the proposal, I called to ask if during the blow-dry portion of our headspa, they could style my friend's hair a certain way. She wanted them to use a round brush to flip out her ends. They let me know if they had time, they would most likely be able to accommodate. But to let the front desk know when we arrived. BlueMoon sent reminder texts leading up to the appointment and told us to arrive 5-10 min early for a hair consultation and to change into the robes. My friend and I arrived to our appointment a little before 3:20PM. There was a little waiting area. They had us fill out a quick form and I asked again if we could style my friend's hair a certain way. She said she would let the technician know and if there was time, they'd be able to. She also told us to ask the technician. This is where things went a bit south. We ended up waiting in the waiting room a while. There was a heatwave this particular weekend so it was a bit warm in the waiting room. A few people were there before us and came in after us, but they all got called in before us. I feel like this happened because they tried to put our headspa rooms next to one another, which is so nice, but at the end of the day doesn't matter who you end up next to since the rooms are individual. We ended up starting our hair consultations in the waiting room a little after 3:30. The consultation was a cool experience as they used a camera to check our roots, follicles, oil development, and split ends. Then we waited some more. We finally got called into the headspa rooms around 3:55PM. I ended up having to wait in the hallway a bit as it appeared my room wasn't properly set-up, but no big deal. Eventually, I was let in. They had us change into a very cute and comfortable wrap. By the time we started the headspa, it was 4pm, 40 minutes after we had arrived. The headspa was AMAZING. I had Mimi and she did everything wonderfully. She greeted me and gave me verbal cues. She led me throughout and the pressure of her massage was perfect. SHE WAS FABULOUS! My friend had Wendy. Wendy was also great but didn't give her as many directions as Mimi did. When we finished the headspa portion, we were done around 4:50PM. I went to the hair area first and was given a cute little snack (biscoff cookies, a water bottle, and grapes) in a fun Halloween bowl. Mimi got started on my hair and was done in about 10-15 minutes. MY HAIR LOOKED SO GOOD. Now my friend finished a little bit after me and this is the part that gets difficult. We didn't end up getting out of the headspa until around 5:45PM (2 hours after our appointment started). This is so tough as I know Wendy took her time to make my friend's hair look as good as possible. AND MAN OH MAN DID HER HAIR LOOK GOOD. I think that was on us to not let them know ahead of time that we needed to leave by 5PM/5:15PM the latest to catch sunset, but I didn't know how long things would take. Also, my friend has long hair so I'm sure that played a role. The lady at the front was so nice as she tried to help me let Wendy know that we needed to leave ASAP. But it was such a tough situation. I wanted to get out of there, but I didn't want to rush Wendy and be rude, but we couldn't miss sunset. Wendy didn't necessarily move fast, but again, she might've been taking her time on purpose to ensure a great final product. Either way, she did a great job on my friend's hair. However, I was incredibly stressed out with the time. The lady at the front checked in on Wendy a few times and kept saying she was close to being finished, but it still took another 20-30 minutes from that point. Luckily, we made it to the proposal in the nick of time and we were able to catch some sunlight. It was beautiful! Generally, the services we got at BlueMoon were great. I think it was difficult because we started the actual headspa 30 minutes late and the timing was thrown off. However, I really appreciate the ladies for helping this day be super special for my friend! OUR HAIR LOOKED AMAZING. SIDENOTE: I absolutely loved all the seasonal decor! More importantly, the treatment itself was rough: rinsing looks soft 'she didnt put dry protect on my hair burnd my sclap when drying it - My scalp was scratched so forcefully that its so sore its 12:42 am I'm so irritated, and I am still having a headache and sore head. - The facial portion was ok she rushed rolling things on my face so fast they kept hitting each other that pissed me off she rubbed so fast I almost got up and left but my husband said his girl was calm and soft of course he is a man. - I included foot massage consisted only of applying oil and pulling my toes until they crack and hitting your legs for 3 min. I paid $245 plus tip for a service that was meant to be relaxing, but instead resulted in physical discomfort. Given the severe lack of consideration slamming stuff and it was a poor experience, I am requesting a partal refund for this service.
