Flavour was lacking (how that's possible with a curry I don't know), my wife who is Indian almost asked for salt (but couldn't find a server). Once we finished eating the server was nowhere to be found. Ended up going and finding a different server to pay the bill. Positives: good room, ice cold beer. Maybe an off day but with so many choices out there, we won't be back.

We sat at the front of the restaurant and there was live music being played on the piano. We very much enjoyed the music but the staff also asked us if we were happy with the volume and where we were sat which was much appreciated. The food was delicious, authentic Indian, not greasy, and not a korma insight. We had a few items from the street food menu and a main, the waiter explained what everything was and the various dips when they were served. They also provide extensive gluten, vegan and dairy free dishes, all of which are clearly displayed on the menu. I know they've received several restaurant awards and frequently feature in Brighton's top 10 restaurants so I'd definitely recommend booking ahead. I just wish I'd remembered to take some pictures!

For dinner, I sat at the communal table and ordered the Set Menu (Veg), which started with a huge platter of pappadum along with pickled onions and three different types of chutneys/jams. Then there was the Chilli Pickle Cornflake Mix, a reinvented version of "Bombay mix" containing cornflakes, lentils, peanuts, chickpeas, flaked rice, cashews, pecans, raisins, and more! This was so crunchy and delicious that I even asked to take the rest home after the meal! On the waiter's recommendation, I tried the pani puri for my appetizer, a typical Indian street food made of puri (a deep-fried puff) filled with potato, chickpeas, and chutney--it also came with a tamarind water on the side, which you poured into the puris before eating. While this was an interesting dish, there was very little flavor to the little puffs, and I thought these was skippable. For my main, I chose the Punjabi Aubergine Curry, made with soft pieces of eggplant in a sauce of tamarind, coconut, and peanuts. It came with a cucumber/tomato/red onion salad and a huge, fresh piece of onion roti on the side. The onion roti was pure perfection--the edges were puffy and chewy, while the inner part was thin and crispy; it had a nice nutty flavor from the whole wheat flour and was the perfect vessel for dunking in the curry! Overall a decent dish, but the flavors and spices were definitely toned down, and the sauce had a more sweet/mild flavorful than other Indian curries I've had.

Food-wise, the side dishes are all great...I particularly like the Bombay Aloo, the Sag Paneer and the Onion Bhajis- delicious! I can also recommend the Vegetable Balti and Chicken Tikka Masala. I checked the Uber app and there's no message system on the app so they lied about that and my address is clearly visible on the app. I also requested several updates via the app when my order became late which were ignored. I have had two previous deliveries from another restaurant without issue.

Noori's is a bit of a confusing evening out: everything seems to be incongruous. However, from a really basic perspective, Noori's does serve very nice food. The curries aren't too hot, the selection is pretty standard, but expansive, and it all tastes great. Living in Brighton, there are plenty of places that claim to give you authentic Indian cuisine: Noori's is much more your standard British-Indian fare. As such, it is uneventful, if perfectly lovely dining. Apart from the food, Noori's is otherwise a little confusing. The space to sit down is quite big, yet often empty: probably because it's so hard to find. The decor is faux-glam: you might feel underdressed when you first enter, but then realise that no one else there has dressed up, and I doubt anyone ever has to come here. Also, apart from the look of Noori's, little really says "glamorous". All in all, it's a rather peculiar dining experience: give it a try, but don't expect the world from Noori's: it's not the best, nor the most authentic Indian experience in Brighton.
