After my first appointment, I intentionally started booking with other estheticians at this location, and those experiences were excellent. I never had any issues with pain or my skin. This time, I didn't realize I had been assigned to Emillee again. During the waxing, I repeatedly asked her to be gentler because the pain was unbearable, but she continued anyway. The experience was extremely painful, and afterward my skin developed blisters. I've had waxing done many times before, including by other staff at this location, and I've never experienced anything like this. Throughout the appointment, she repeatedly commented that I had darker skin and darker hair. Those comments made me feel very uncomfortable and singled out. I also noticed her adding something to the wax during the appointment, although I wasn't told what it was. In addition, wax was spilled on both the floor and the table, making the entire appointment feel disorganized and unprofessional. During the service, I told her how much pain I was in and warned that I would consider taking legal action if my skin was injured because I felt my concerns were being ignored. Despite that, the service continued without any noticeable adjustment. Overall, this was one of the worst waxing experiences I've ever had. Based on my experience, I would not book with Emillee again.

She was with a client, but came over to get me checked-in.) Before Jessica started working on my brows, another customer came by and Jessica told her that it would only take her 8 minutes, and she can take her after she is done with me. After Jessica was done tapping on her iPad aggressively, she didn't sanitize her hands nor did she wore gloves. At first, I thought gloves are no longer a requirement, but I saw the other technician wore gloves. Not only was she aggressively tapping her iPad, she was also aggressive when she finally worked on my brows. Every step she did on me, it pushed me back a little. It was impossible to hold still in the chair. When Jessica finished the first brow, she mumbled something that I didn't hear, then I felt the mirror on my hand. She asked me to check my brow, then she proceeded to work on the other brow. The whole process didn't even take place 8 minutes, only 6. (I was keeping track of time.) The past appointments always ended with aloe gel, but Jessica did not apply a layer of aloe gel on me this time. I was really contemplating whether I should tip or not, but I did regardless. I handed Jessica $10 and asked for change, she gave me 2 $5. I've always tipped $5 even when brow wax was $22. To be honest, I don't the service today was worth a $5 tip. Not sure if I'll ever come back again. If I do, I definitely wouldn't book Jessica again.

What made the situation even more frustrating was the way corporate handled the follow-up. I received a random phone call from corporate, where my name was repeatedly pronounced incorrectly, only to be informed that they were closing my case. There was no meaningful resolution or explanation of what was actually being done to address the situation. I was also ghosted by the manager of this branch when I asked for an update regarding the issue and was completely ignored when I was at the front desk this weekend, despite being told that I would not be treated differently because of what happened. I am extremely disappointed with the outcome of this situation and honestly shocked by EWC's standards and lack of accountability when it comes to protecting their clients. Clients should be able to feel safe and comfortable during their appointments, and waxers should be properly knowledgeable about safe and appropriate waxing procedures, appropriate topics to discuss with clients, and, most importantly, appropriate and safe touch. After almost 3.5 years as a client, I never expected to be treated this way or to be so disappointed by how this situation was handled.

I'm so glad I did…read more The quality of the blowout was so good that when she moved to another salon, I had to follow her. She blew my hair BONE STRAIGHT and it lasted a good five months. I could easily last another month here in California weather but being I'm going to ridiculously-hot-and-humid Texas at the end of the month, I wanted to make sure I got it done before my trip so that my hair was silky smooth and easier to manage in the high humidity. I arrived and Joe-Joe, washed and prepped my hair. He was super friendly and easy to talk to, and gave my head a great massage. (In fact, all the people at this salon were very friendly!). Josette then adds the product in, blows it straight and then irons it bone straight. She has the whole process down and you'll be out the door with your shiny, super straight hair within two hours. It's cut my hair dry time down to half in the morning and my hair gets bone straight! If I just want my regular curly hair, I just add a bit of serum, crunch my hair, and I have great, frizz-free curls! The best of both worlds for this naturally curly haired girl! =) Make sure you don't use any sulfate hair products after your Brazilian. She has a tendency to forget to tell people that and the sulfates will tussle up the product that keeps your hair bone straight. Look on the ingredients on the back of your shampoo/conditioner. It's worth tossing out the product if it has sulfates and you're investing in a Brazilian. Most grocery/drug store products have it in there so you're better off buying salon brand or L'Oreal even has a sulfate-free products out in grocery/drug stores.
