This place is always so busy. Almost every time I've come here, the people working are normally too busy to even talk to me. (It's something I've been understanding of- I work in customer service). Before my friend's wedding, I wanted to go get my burrito from RVC. Abbie/Abby, was the sweetest girl ever. She was telling us that it's been a hectic shift and she was doing so well at her job. Dropped by this coffee shop while on my way to the ice rink nearby and ordered an iced mocha with oat milk. Literally some of the best coffee I've had in a while (I used to work as a barista and have tried a lot of coffee and this is hands down some of the smoothest, most flavourful coffee I've had). My mocha was the perfect amount of sweet and there was no powdery or syrupy texture to the chocolate. The service was fast and the baristas working were both so kind when I went through the drive through. Such a fun and supportive vibe from this coffee shop, I will definitely go again. I also ordered a muffin top, I kind of expected it warmed but it came wrapped in plastic which was kind of a bummer. I just ended up leaving it on my car dashboard to get warm and it was still pretty delicious. read more

Today, 11/25 at around 1:40 PM, I had a very disappointing experience with one of your baristas, Kenzie. I am a regular at RVC because of the great coffee, burritos, cake pops for my grandkids, and--most importantly--the consistently friendly service I've always received. When I ordered my coffee, I asked Kenzie if I could see the container of cake pops, as I've done many times before without any issue. She responded by telling me it was a health code violation and that she couldn't "just have me grab the cake pops." It wasn't what she said, but the way she said it--I felt like I was being reprimanded. A simple, friendly explanation would have been enough. She then listed the flavors, and I ordered three. I mentioned that I've always enjoyed coming to RVC and never had a problem with anyone before. Instead of calming the situation, she became defensive and insisted she wasn't trying to argue--while continuing to argue. The exchange became tense enough that another barista, who was very kind and had prepared my coffee, stepped in and asked her to go to the back. This was my first time encountering Kenzie, and the interaction left a very negative impression. If I see her working during future visits, I will ask to be assisted by a different barista. I truly hope this was an isolated incident, as I've always loved coming to RVC. read more

Proceeded to wait for 5 minutes with nobody else in line while the girl chatted with the other employee, then she proceeded to charge me over $6 for what seems to be a burnt latte - not what I ordered clearly. Obsessed. I can't say enough good things about my almost daily coffee/energy/breakfast burrito pit stop. After unloading my tiny terrorist (aka my two and a half year old) at preschool I swing through to celebrate with a delicious beverage and breakfast for me and my husband. The folks working here are not only the kindest and raddest, but they also know me by name and memorized my order almost immediately. I felt like a goddess amongst women for the next week until I realize they do that with everyone and then I still felt damn cool cause now I feel like I'm part of a cool, little exclusive coffee comradeship of other brilliant folks who found this place. All this to say that I 100% recommend Rainier Valley Coffee and even drive out of my way sometimes just to grab a drink and say hi. They make every day better with caffeine and chit chat. So first off I'd like to say I was a loyal costumer for 3 years, the girls are very nice and personable, but the owner doesn't pay to train and brushed off a friend of mine when she found a hair in her drink ( during covid). So after I made my original review, I still had free drinks on my account. After them seeing my review they have deleted my account. I'm so disappointed in the way they chose to handle that. I'm not trying to bash anyone but I think you should know what kind of people are collecting your money. read more

This coffee stand is truly the best! All the workers are sooo nice and friendly. They have lotus drinks which I love but their coffee is also bomb! I always get the pepperjack sausage bagel sandwich which is 5 stars! We bring our dog and they always give her a puppichino if you are in the area I definitely can't recommend enough! This is such an amazing business. I am a past employee and life long customer. It's consistent no matter what location you go to. You'll always have an beautiful, educated, and down to earth barista. The owner takes pride in her business and prioritizes her employees. She constantly shows that she cares about her staff and her customers. Going anywhere but here for your coffee or breakfast goodies is not only not supporting an amazing small business but missing out on an experience and relationship with local real people. The girls here are AMAZING and so friendly! This is my go-to coffee stand. I hate going anywhere else because they just don't do it as good as Rainier does!! My morning girl always greets me by my name, asks about my baby and is just a very genuine person! I absolutely love this place.
