I am sharing this experience so other parents can make informed decisions before enrolling their child. I wish I had seen a review like this beforehand. My intent is transparency, especially for families who rely on childcare subsidies and may have limited options. My daughter attended this school briefly. During that time, we experienced ongoing issues with communication and transparency. The most concerning situation involved my daughter being injured on more than one occasion--twice by the same child within a matter of weeks. When I asked why my child was hurt more than once in such a short period of time, the Director became defensive rather than responsive. On both occasions, I was not notified immediately. After the first incident, a vague incident report was placed in my daughter's backpack for me to discover after arriving home. The report was written on Mt. Tahoma letterhead, which was confusing and concerning, as my child does not attend that school. During the second incident, I arrived for pickup while my daughter was still crying and visibly distressed after being struck on the side of the head by the same child. The teacher who brought her to the gate did not know what had happened, and the Director also appeared unaware. My daughter was initially handed to me as if nothing had occurred. Only after it became clear that I was upset and would not leave while my child was crying, red in the face, and hurt did a staff member offer an ice pack. When the Director arrived, she was unable to explain what had happened. When my daughter identified who hit her, the Director stated, "No, it wasn't him," without clarifying who was responsible. Although my daughter clearly stated she was hit, the school insisted she had been "pushed onto bark." Bark would not cause a bruise on her ear or the contusion later diagnosed by urgent care. The conversation with the Director and owner was brief and uninformative. Neither acknowledged who hurt my child or clearly explained what occurred. Instead, the incident was repeatedly described as "normal child behavior," and it was implied that my daughter's actions caused her injury. Some children at the school are as old as six; my daughter is only four. No apology was offered, and no prevention plan was discussed unless I specifically asked. An incident report was not offered. I requested one and was told it would be provided, but it never arrived. After following up, I eventually received a report that lacked key details, including staff names and a clear explanation of how the injury occurred. Most concerning, the report focused heavily on my daughter's behavior in a way that implied she was responsible for being hurt, while also stating that a teacher witnessed the incident and did not intervene to prevent injury. In a follow-up email--after I continued requesting a corrected incident report and additional details--the Director suggested that I consider withdrawing my daughter and placing her in a private in-home daycare, stating that my concerns reflected "very specific needs," rather than addressing how the school would ensure my child's safety. Beyond the physical injuries, my daughter showed signs of emotional distress while attending this program, including difficulty playing with peers and fear associated with school staff. Since leaving the school, these reactions have continued. I have not been able to return to work since November, as attempts to transition her into other childcare settings have been unsuccessful due to her extreme distress and refusal to enter facilities. The emotional impact on our family has been substantial. What troubled me most was not just the incidents themselves, but a pattern of delayed communication, limited transparency around supervision, and dismissal of legitimate safety concerns. I have since withdrawn my daughter and am sharing this to encourage other parents to ask detailed questions about supervision, injury reporting, communication practices, and how children are supported emotionally. When my father passed away unexpectedly about a year and a half ago, the teachers and administrators surrounded us with warmth and compassion. They checked in daily, supported my son through his big emotions, and made sure he felt safe and loved during an incredibly difficult time. That type of care comes from people who truly value the children they work with. Communication has always been clear, consistent, and responsive. The staff is proactive in sharing updates, answering questions, and making sure parents feel informed and included. Over nearly two years, any small hiccups that naturally happen in childcare have been handled with transparency, thoughtfulness, and professionalism. My son has developed strong, trusting relationships with his teachers, both under the previous ownership and the current leadership. Our family started with the original owners in 2023 & they sold it to a wonderful family that genuinely cares for their staff, our children and families. Yes, the original owners sold it abruptly & that transition was difficult but it was not at the expense of the new owners. The original owners Mrs. Margo & Chrissy did not disclose this to the parents currently enrolled until Feb 2025, when the business was already put up for sale in late 2024. So as parents and even their own staff we were surprised, which was not the new owners fault. They came in very transparent and welcoming and that has not changed since taking over Little Farm Preschoool. However, the new owners made major improvements that created so much physical classroom space, indoor play area and reading nook that has an up to date fire & safety features (which wasn't there before). The new teachers Ms. Gwen & Ms Kolby are AMAZING! The owners and teachers have degrees in Early Child Education and Development with years of experience working with children. Every morning they welcome our little ones with their smiles and warmth the children look forward to their day. The teachers are so nurturing, patient and supportive with separation anxiety or behavioral challenges, which they always communicate with parents through the parent app as a heads up so we can talk about it in person if needed. They truly are so hard working to create such a creative and fun hands-on activities for learning and safe environment for our children. One thing that the new teachers/owners incorporated, which was not done with previous owners was an academic assessment. No pressure on the kid, but teachers are observing & use a simple guideline to measure the children's academic improvement from beginning of the school year and we checked in during the quarter of the year during parent teacher conferences and measure the improvements your child is making. The goal is to make sure the children are ready to enter Elementary school by building the child's confidence knowing their ABC's, recognition of letters, shapes, numbers, etc. through a curriculum that is fun and very effective as the children learn through arts, crafts, music, story time, outdoor play and using their creative minds. In the outdoor space there are goats & chickens and inside the classroom have fish and plants they are responsible in taking turns feeding. Every holiday and birthday is celebrated with so much enthusiasm and excitement. At pick up time you can see the smiles on our children's faces as they show us their projects for the day, tell us about all the fun they had and say good-bye to their friends each day. I can go on and on and rave about Little Farm Preschool and what a wonderful and magical place it is for my children. Margo and Chrissy do not own the school anymore and have nothing to do with it. After a couple of months under the new ownership, reportedly due to the behavior of the new owners and safety concerns about the new owners, all three of the existing teachers (that our children knew and loved) quit with 5 weeks left in the school year. This is obviously a huge disruption and quite upsetting to the children. The new owners very quickly hired two new "teachers" and had them starting within a week of the previous teachers quitting. I cannot imagine there was enough time for an adequate background check or vetting of these two new employees. The owners were desperate to hire anyone just to keep the school open. The owners are also extremely defensive about the whole situation and refuse to accept any blame or issue any sort of apology or reassurance that the safety concerns in question would be addressed and fixed. The whole environment and vibe of the school is now just negative and toxic so we pulled our child from the school. The owners are also refusing to issue a tuition refund for the last month of school.

Original: I originally enrolled my 3 year old son for part time preschool at the Junior Junction school in Auburn, when it closed we were told we could switch our enrollment to the Junior Junction Day School if we wanted. I toured the school and it looked great! Very clean, a nice outside play area, a secure entrance, and I loved the classroom. We switched enrollment that day and my son was so excited to start preschool in the fall. Unfortunately once he started we very quickly regretted our decision. The major problem here was his teacher. ***** were his instructors. The first red flag I had was after his very first day, my son told me that the class did not go outside because "kids in the class were naughty". We don't call kids naughty at our house so I felt he picked that up from something the teachers said at preschool, it didn't sit well with me. I thought I was possibly overreacting or being overly sensitive so we took him back for the next preschool class again. I started noticing the teacher was rarely smiling anymore, my son could not tell me what he learned about, and the work he brought home was way too easy (match the big dog to the big doghouse, the small dog to the small doghouse, and the medium dog to the medium doghouse...Really? I would expect a 3 year old to be able to learn at a higher level than that easily). What happened when we came to pick my son up his last day at JJDS was really the last straw. We arrived early and were waiting in the parking lot to go inside about 10 minutes before his class would be released. We saw ****attempting to get the children to line up to go outside. She and ****looked frustrated and overwhelmed. It took a few minutes for them to get control of the line then they walked out toward the play area.... And came back less than 5 minutes later. There's no way the kids got a real chance to play. My husband and I went in the building to wait. When we went in the classroom that day all the kids were sitting on the rug, the little boy next to my son kept kicking him. *****saw, but said nothing. My son politely asked the boy to stop, when he wouldn't stop kicking my son moved. Then there was another child sitting next to a bucket of fun looking toys. Obviously the temptation was too much, the child reached in and grabbed a toy. *****silently grabbed his arm, forced the toy out of his hand, and threw it back in the bucket. Not one word of explanation to the child. My husband and I could not leave fast enough. We left our letter with the desk that we were not coming back and never did.

She has made the school feel very homey. The kids learn, they have outdoor Time and a huge area to roam, and they are able to flourish in this environment.
