It made it extremely difficult to enjoy the movie. A movie theater should not smell this bad, especially considering what customers are paying for tickets and concessions. I've been to special screenings, quote alongs, and countless movies. And I'm done. Saw a movie tonight with their new ordering system, terrible recliners, and squeaky tables, and I realized the magic of that place is dead. The online ordering was awful. I paid for everything under 1 order but there was 15 minutes between 1 seat and the other getting items. When I finally got my food the water I ordered didn't arrive until I requested multiple refills through the online system which meant I had to keep my phone on the entire time. I would've felt better if I could've talked to a server but it was a bit chaotic. They were all running around looking a bit overwhelmed and lost. The only way to get help is to request a manager through the website, which felt like overkill. Final straw was realizing that despite paying via credit card when you order, they charge you another 5% (on top of the included 18% service fee) if you don't go back into the order system and close out after the movie ends. I don't want to be a slave to my phone. One of the greatest joys of the Alamo Drafthouse was their strictly enforced no phone policy, but those days are done. When Santikos or AMC tried to introduce fancier food I thought they were poor imitations of the Drafthouse, but now the Drafthouse feels like it dumbed itself down to be a poor imitation of them.

But because they were running a little behind we were able to catch a few of the short films as well so it was a nice added bonus! I will say though the seats are pretty standard so don't be expecting to recline and veg out watching your feature here. Also the speakers are placed directly in the front of the first row of seats so it's best to sit a few rows back if you don't wanna get blasted by the audio. Price: Unfortunately I can't give an honest review on that just because it was a free event for me but as far as the concession stand goes it's quite fair! $4 for their biggest popcorn and while not the biggest size in the industry it's definitely some of the tastiest popcorn I have had from a theater and you get a free refill. Drink are $2 a pop so that's not too bad either. They had other items but I don't remember their set price. Overall I enjoyed my experience here and wouldn't mind coming again for another night!

I wanted to do this pretty badly...but alas it was all locked up and looked pretty desolate. I wonder if it is ever open, or if someone would buy it, or if there are plans to do this at some point in the near future because it is a neat place. I see no other reviews for this place, so I am just curious. Interesting note- there was a stature of venus on what looked like a stack of pancakes inside. I love old places like this. Expect it to be just like this. $8 Adults $6 Children & Seniors $6 Matinee We chose Monday to avoid big crowds which as a great choice. Practical Magic was breaking records over the weekend. We were the first ones in, and last ones out of theater. And yes there were a couple of other groups there, but not many... perfect for us! We chose to support local by trying a lot on their menu. Frito Pie Hot dogs Nachos Popcorn Sodas It was just mom behind the counter so it took some time. It's that mad rush before the show. She brought stuff to us when ready, which was totally cool with us. This is an old school small town experience. Embrace it all. I mentioned to both mom and pop how much I appreciated them being open during the week. I truly mean it. It takes dedication and love of the theater to only serve a handful on slow days. I get it. And that's exactly why we chose a slow day. I'm not much of a let's go see a new movie at the theater, although am I looking forward to another visit in the future embracing the small town life. Sorry I didn't take pics... Next time for sure.

Every now and again I would see someone come out and 'push' the crowds against the wall in order to keep order but after awhile, my group and I noticed a lot of local kids making their way to other kids they knew who were already in line ahead of us. I literally saw one teen put his hands together as if to pray to his friend and then I heard him say, "Please????" She looked at him and said, "I don't know." He and his friends continued to look at her longingly and then he practically begged her to let him and his group jump the line. She eventually caved and there he stood with at least three of his friends. Those three friends eventually grew to more friends. The last count I had was about 16 kids had line jumped ahead of me and my group and everyone else that was behind us. Yet no one said anything. I bit my tongue because I knew I was out of my element in this town. Too many local teens (and even a couple of adults!!!) knew each other and allowed their friends to cut in line. I eventually did speak up because I barrelled my way through to the front of the line when the doors opened. Some kid made a smart @ss remark about cutting and I went off on him. I told him and his friends that in order to SAY something about cutting, you first have to be one of the honest people who ACTUALLY WAITED in line. I love the look on his and his friends' faces when I said that too. Everyone in the theater got quiet. It was just a very disappointing evening to start - it was already a really hot evening and having to wait outside in the heat, deal with line jumpers, and watch other locals drive by the theater as if it was Military Drive in the early 90s was irritating enough. The employees are sweet as pie but the whole crowd control thing really needs to be nipped in the bud.
