I saw designer brands such as Calvin Klein and name brands such as Levi's and Nike. The store was having a holiday sale, and most merchandise was discounted. I chose a pair of jean shorts on sale for 40%-off and a shirt on clearance for $5. The cashier did not look enthusiastic, but he promptly rang up my purchase and thanked me. At home, I tried on the two articles of clothing. The jean shorts fit pefectly. The shirt, though, had a large fit in the shoulders and a cropped length. I will donate this shirt to charity.

During my most recent visit, when I entered the store, an employee greeted me and told me about sales. I did not see sale signs on the racks of clothing, so I recommend that they add those. The quality of the clothing looked good, although I personally do not think that this faith-based store should sell revealing clothing such as tube tops and cropped tops. During the fall season, though, the clothing tends to cover the body more to be warmer. The prices were moderately high, for example, a made-in-China dress for $74. I did see jewelry such as necklaces with Christian crosses.

I was surprised to see the Vera Bradley store at South Hills Village Mall permanently closed during…read moremy last visit, with Pandora going into its place. I've loved Vera Bradley since middle school--my purses, wallets, school bags, and travel bags have all been theirs. I especially miss the bright blues, pinks, and purples from the 2010s, with patterns like Plum Crazy and Very Berry Paisley that were vibrant, fun, and instantly recognizable for me. Even the 2020 patterns, like Felicity Paisley, and the bag styles from that era still felt fresh and joyful. Since the rebrand, I haven't connected with most of the newer patterns and color palettes the same way. I also started to feel like the prices became too expensive, especially for items made from materials similar to what you'd find in everyday clothing. While I can see how the current styles might appeal to a slightly younger generation, I think long term customers who have been with the brand since it's vibrant and youthful days and were used to the brand's earlier quality and durability may find the long-term value and craftsmanship lacking in comparison. I truly miss those classic pink-and-purple florals that made the brand so distinctive. Losing this store feels like losing a piece of my past, but the memories and favorite pieces will always stay in my heart.
