4.5 stars. This Macy's department store is in Monroeville Mall and sells clothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, home goods, and more. I shopped here mostly to look at women's clothing. I felt happy with the selection of shirts, pants, dresses, skirts, outerwear, etcetera. The prices ranged from low to high. I particularly liked the styles of Calvin Klein dresses. I, however, ended up picking out only a blouse that was on clearance for just $10. At the cash register, I had to wait a few minutes while other customers were being served. The cashier spoke very nicely with me, greeting me and wishing me a good day. She made no mistakes with the transaction. I was asked to donate my rounded-up change to the Hispanic Federation charity, which appears to do good work but, based on your political views, you might want to look up before donating. read more

I just received top notch customer service during my visit and I just had to give a special shout out to Mr. Will from the Macys fragrance department; AKA man of all trades. I stopped in for cosmetics and he was one of very few employees working today. He is typically working in the fragrance section near (Kate Spade and Chanel). When he was called to assist me, that was the best thing the other passing employee did for me. He went to work and took his time to help me find a product I needed. He even provided some tips of the trade he learned along the way from his previous job experiences; helping me to make some selections backed by science that could potentially improve the outcomes I was seeking for the future. This area it is tough to find quality clothes. At least Macys carries name brands. The staff are a mix of super helpful, zero help, don't want to be there and I'm just doing the bare minimum. This Macy's is located in the Monroeville Mall, off the business parkway. Parking is plentiful but the lot is worn down, design is not efficient to gain access to the main road efficiently. The store is clean, older but well stocked with merchandise and has helpful employees. I had to ask for directions in order to pick up an online order and was given precise information with a smile. Everything was great about the experience except the parking lot. read more

It had been awhile since I stepped foot into this Macy's, and out of all the days, I chose Black Friday to come again. As you can imagine, there were people everywhere. There is one major change this Macy's has recently undergone: Macy's Backstage Outlet Store. I guess it's comparable to Nordstrom Rack. Anyway, they completely revamped one half of the first floor which used to be Women's, Special Occassion Dresses, and Junior's. They've taken all "outlet" items from multiple departments and placed them in this one section. Upon first glance, you feel a rush of excitement as there's so much to take in. You feel even more excited when you see those red markers that say: Clearance. Then, when you actually look on the racks and see a $89.99 jacket, you learn that "outlet" is subjective. Or when you look in that "clearance" section, it's not really a discounted price at all. What I'm really saying is that it's bad when you walk out of the outlet section into the regular men's section, and say for the first time: that's a good price! Maybe I'll find that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on the outlet rack someday. The real gold mine (for ladies/women at least) is upstairs on the second floor in the back of Moderates (Karen Scott, Style & Co., Charter Club, etc.). It says '70-80% off' on the wall in red and you can't miss it. This is where I've found my treasure. read more

Everything about Macy's makes it easy for them to get as much of your $$$ as you're willing to share. 1) the merchandise is high (er) quality 2) if they don't have it, they'll get it - and send it to your house 3) Plenti perks are REAL, if you aren't doing it, start now 4) shoes, shoes, shoes + bags... just my personal favorites 5) easy returns for any web purchases The staff in the shoe department are always slammed (always). But they also ALWAYS manage to offer options if my size isn't available. Staffing is scarce in Monroeville, but they are a pleasant group... even if they are running from one station to the next. I was in need for dress shoes and Mary, who works in the shoe department was extremely professional and help me finding perfect shoes. She was listening what I needed, brought me few options and quickly assist me with the choice. I do not shop that often at Macy's, however, having people like Mary definitely persuaded me to give it a try since I had great customer experience. What set her apart from any other retailer is her compassion to help people, interested in customer's needs and wants and little discount is always good to get people coming back. If I can give Mary 10 for customer service, I will. I am coming back this week for more shoes! read more

I usually go to Macy's a couple times a year, typically around the holidays for presents. My most recent trip was in search of new bedroom pillows. Since I am a "valued' card holder they send me coupons ever quarter, for 20% off or $10.00 off purchases, so I intended to use them. This Macy's has three levels. Fining ourselves on level one, I became sidetracked by several racks of discounted workout/active wear clothes. After some browsing I noticed the prices for the Reebok and Head gear were really good! Like Gabe's good. LOL. I snagged up a few things tried them on and although I had said earlier I was not buying anything other than pillows, I bought the three outfits. I have a problem. After perusing the slim selection of pillows and securing the 4 we were going to purchase we made our way to the checkout. I announced my coupons, and was immediately turned down. Here Macy's has added a "new" (at least to me) "closeout" section where all the items are already very discounted so no double dipping, now I get why the workout clothes were so cheap. I thought for a moment that I would try looking upstairs but said forget it. Purchased items and left. Now that I know of this whole floor filled with discounted items, I will probably check it out before heading to other areas of the store. read more

Macy's Monroeville actively lied to me and caused a great deal of distress. I also have reason to believe they allowed my personal information to be sold. 3 weeks ago, Macy's contacted ME with a detailed and signed job offer letter, including pay rate and start date. I signed and returned the offer, then went in to meet with my hiring manager who confirmed both my employment and start date. When I arrived for my first shift, the same hiring manager informed me that the job offer was now rescinded without explanation, and "oops, someone should have contacted you". I turned down multiple other job offers, purchased new work clothes, and waited almost 3 weeks for my start date. I've now spoken with other applicants, and it seems this is an active hiring model employed by the Macy's corporation. They use a 3rd party staffing service called ModernHire (who appears to have sold my information per the onslaught of scam texts/emails I've been getting since responding to them 3 weeks ago). Modern Hire is encouraged to offer more jobs than exist so that Macy's has coverage. Once fully staffed, Macy's gives the other people they hired (and signed contracts with) the "oops" crap. ...Pretty evil and soulless . I know retail is a dying industry, but screwing innocent people out of being able to pay their rent isn't the way to save your department store. read more

Macy's: a great place so shop with an excellent brand name selection in a classic department store genre. Searching in the east does not present a lot of higher end shopping options like you can find in Ross. Fortunately Macy's is remaining as the anchor store in Monroeville. Macy's is a clean, modern, nicely decorated, well-lit, somewhat higher end place to shop with good selection. The associates are normally well trained and pleasant to deal with. Other stores are around like Target which provide nice options but are really smaller, don't necessarily carry the bigger brand names and have moved into the grocery business for a kind of one stop shopping option. Monroeville Mall once had Kaufmann's and Gimbels as two anchor stores on either end. Shopping was great. Then Macy's acquired both of them and closed one of them. The result was we were left with one great department store instead of two. One good thing that followed was Penny's and Dick's did take up the old Kaufmann's end of the Mall. But Macy's now is the focus here. Three floors of well laid out and beautifully merchandised brand name options are there for the browsing. Many stores come and go in the Mall but Macy's remains and thank goodness it does. read more

I find myself at this Macy's all the time since it's close to my home. While it can not compare to the Ross Park location as far as selection it is still good store over all. It even features a Macy's Backstage Outlet Store section which is similar to a Nordstrom Rack. I have never found anything good in the Backstage Outlet, but my wife and daughter always seem to. There is also a Last Call section in the regular store where you can get some incredible deals. I have found items that were priced at a tenth of their original price! What I don't like about Macy's is that they never let you use coupons on any of the name brands which pretty much makes them useless! Also the customer service at this particular location leaves much to be desired. On a recent trip to the Ross Park location I purchase an item that was 50% and the cashier asked if I had any coupons which I did not and she went and found a 25% off coupon which saved me an additional $150.00 off the item. I found another of the same item at the Monroeville location that was half off as well and when I asked about a coupon the cashier said that she didn't have any coupons and made no effort to find one for me to use. She just could not care less. I purchased the item and went all the way back out to the Ross Park location and found the same cashier that offered me a 25% coupon and she went and looked for about 10 minutes until she found another 25% coupon and made a price adjustment to take the $150.00 off of the item. Now that is customer service! I guess that's why I stay at the Ross Park location! read more

Macy's, a big retail company with poor processing! Month 1 Bought a watch in Fort Lauderdale. I come from Toronto. Customer service representative comes up and says 'hey! you'd get 20% off if you apply for Macy's credit card.' I agreed, she asks for a form of identification and I proceeded to pass her my driver's license. Month 2 Received the billing statement in Toronto. I tried to log in but to no avail. I called them explaining the situation. Apparently they require your social security number when and if you apply for their Macy's credit card. But all the CSR needed was my DL which did not have my SSN on it so how did she create the account? I did get the 20% discount as well which is odd. So no matter, I asked the CSR on call for the SPECIFIC amount to write on the cheque, he relayed the info, I wrote the cheque and sent it to their PO in Louisville. Month 3 Apparently it takes 3 weeks for my cheque to reach them and another week for their statement to arrive. So, this month's statement reflected a late fee and the remaining balance for the watch. No matter, I understand. I called them, asked for the SPECIFIC amount to write on the cheque this time with the additional late fee. Emphasized that the amount their CSR told me to write the previous month was wrong for confirmation. I wrote the cheque and sent it to their PO in Louisville. Month 4 Received the billing statement. Apparently I'm hit with a 'Minimum Interest Charge' since I 'split' the bill. But hey, I just followed what your CSR told me to write. So now I call them, CSR waived the late balance fee. I ask for the THIRD time for the SPECIFIC amount to write on the cheque, this time his manager told me. Feeling assured, I write the cheque and sent it to their PO in Louisville. And yes, amount inclusive of the interest fee. Month 5 Apparently my watch has been paid for after 5 months.. Macy's being an MNC in a fucking RETAIL industry are unable to take my credit card info to charge me on the spot? Ok. So month 5's statement fee includes that 'Minimum Interest Charge' and I am furious now, I called them, CSR grants my request to waive the fucking interest fee of $5.80. CSR tells me a confirmation letter will be sent the following month. Ok, I mean you can send a fucking Email but sure. Now I wait for month 6. Please note I did request to pay on the spot, got rejected twice and cajoled to pay online. Probably a push play to get customers to try their "e-commerce initiative." Macy's if you do read this, fuck you. You guys just bred a hater for life. As a business owner, invoicing clients and charging them is commonplace to me and done daily. But Macy's? A fucking conglomerate? Fuck you incompetent pieces of shit. read more

This review focuses more on the MAC counter in-store than anything (though Macy's itself is wonderful and protip: They have plus sized tights in every shade imaginable). I've been in here quite a few times for various MAC purchases. It's easy to find crappy reviews of MAC counters online- in fact, I saw one today, which is what prompted me to give this one a thumbs-up. If they don't have it, they'll order it in. If you'd like your skin matched for foundation, they will help you. They aren't pushy, either. I do wish they had the more limited edition stuff (like Ablaze. Oh Ablaze, wherefore art thou Ablaze?), but this store has good service, and if you're looking for a MAC counter where you will have a positive experience, this is it. read more

Irena at the Monroeville mall macys is amazing. Not only is she friendly, she goes above and beyond to make your returns easy and pleasant. She processed a price adjustment for me that macys telephone service representatives refused to do (they advised me to repurchase the items on sale and then return them to get the lower price). I have had the pleasure of dealing with Irena many times over the holidays with returns and picking up internet purchases and her service has always been consistent. It is hard to find a person in retail today who is a pleasure to deal with. This lady is amazing. I hope her efforts are noticed by management and rewarded. Thanks Irena for the exceptional service. My wife wanted to buy a loveseat Macy's advertised as on sale, and since we had a bunch of gift cards we figured we'd order it in-store instead of phoning it in. When we got there, the lone employee working in the furniture section indicated that their system was showing one in stock, but that he couldn't find it, and asked us to wait 10 minutes for his coworker to return to assist him. Ok, no problem. After waiting the 10 minutes, the coworker arrived and said that, in fact, the loveseat had been sold earlier in the week, and that it wouldn't be possible for us to buy it. I asked him to confirm that it would be impossible to order it, even from another store, and he was adamant that there was no way to order the loveseat we wanted. When we got home, my wife made a quick call to Macy's 800 number, and within 10 minutes they'd placed a delivery order for the loveseat from our local warehouse, and it's slated to arrive within a few days. The merchandise here is fine, but take anything the store employees tell you with a big grain of salt. read more

Directed to another service desk by salesperson goimg to lunch. Went clear across the floor to find no one there. Had to actually call the store and then someone from visual (whatever) got a manager. Her answer someone must have called off. Only one salesperson on 2fl of store. We'll talk about it in our meeting. Why do I shop on line??? Went to buy a juicer,found one on sale. Could not find anyone to buy it from,that huge store and the staff was just meandering. Finally found a cash register with two people in front of me and waited so long the elderly woman in back of me told me to put the juicer on the counter before I hurt myself. FINALLY got up to bat and my debit card got declined! Clerk refused to try it again so I had to use my credit card. This is one of my favorite Macy's stores in the Pittsburgh area. It's a large, three-story location and is definitely one of the highlights at Monroeville Mall. The store has a great men's, young women's, handbag, and home departments. Customer service has always been pretty descent here as well. Macy's IS NOT handicap friendly. My daughter and I were at Macy's on Friday, 8/10/18, and I'm writing this review to let anyone who has a physical disability know not to go there without someone to open the doors, move carts blocking the path, and to reach clothing that is hung eight feet high. We went in the bottom entrance because that's where the most handicap parking spots are and the button to open the doors was not working. We went up to the women's department and had to move the cart in the dressing room in order to get my scooter in. We moved it two feet over and the rude saleswoman told us she had to look for it. Next, when we were at the register, I asked the salesman if he could check the price on an item and he pointed to the price check kiosk. I wanted to ask if rudeness was a new requirement to work at Macy's. The ladies restroom on the third floor is definitely not for anyone on a scooter or wheelchair. I guess I will need to shop online in the future. read more
