My friend and I needed a nail salon open past 7, so we visited Rainbow Nails for the first time.
We arrived and they were very busy, good sign right?! So we told the man at the counter what we wanted, we were both getting a set of acrylic nails with color, listed on their price list by the cash register and again on their paper menu at $35.
So we wait about 15 mins around the mall and he gives is a call on her cellphone to tell us they're now ready for us, a nice feature rather than waiting around with nothing to do!
We select our colors and sit down. The table is dirty, the towel beneath me has been used on someone else. I move it to the side and she replaces it without wiping down the area. They have a great big tv above the nail stations and we watched and commented on the news with the girls who were doing our nails, as well as the other girls around us. The girl doing mine had a bit of a hard time getting my shape right, but that's totally fine by me because I like a claw shaped nail and know that's not really common, so no big deal. My friend had a normal shape but ended up filing them more herself when she got home.
So we get up to pay, and my friend gets rung in first. Doesn't say anything, she didn't look at the prices before and just paid. I get rung in next, he hands me the machine and I think, that's funny, it's asking me for my account... I hit my account put in my pin and wait for the receipt to print. I had asked him to add $5 to my total as a tip, and the print out is $62.49! My bad, I should have stopped at the fact that I didn't get to approve a price. I tell him this is wrong, I had an acrylic set with color and show him exactly where it's listed on his prices posted and again on the paper menu panflet. He tells me no I have gel. I tell him I do not have gel, my friend who I came with works in the nail industry and we DID NOT get gel, nor did we ask for gel. He then tells us our colors were different and this is the price plus tip. It's all bullshit. He all of a sudden doesn't know what were talking about and just repeatedly insists our colors were more. He doesn't even speak English anymore. We weren't getting anywhere, we had to cut our losses and go.
Whatever, my nails look nice. I'll deal. BUT THEN, I inspect my nails the next morning. There is a 1mm gap where my nail has lifted off my left thumb. A smaller but noticeable lift on my left pointer. Another 1mm lift on my right thumb. These will have to be removed within the week so no bacteria grows and festers under my nails.
Do not goto rainbow nails. I was ripped off almost twice the price for something that won't last more than a week and the customer service from the man at the cash was non existent.
To the woman's review that decided to throw in that the fact that the other girl getting her nails done had her knuckles tattooed was a sign the place was bad, you should know those hand tattoos cost her hundreds of dollars. I have them too, and I know what good nails look like, she was a victim of this nail salon too. Judge on product quality not what your judgemental mind thinks they deserve. read more
