Wow, how was this place even recommended? The service here is truly non-existent yet they're expecting 18% and some. While I do appreciate the random luxuries of having 2 sets of chopsticks and a candle tea light to continuously keep the tea warm, it is not enough to make up for their poor attitude and service. We were the only ones to arrive and they did not even acknowledge us or try to sit us. One waitress was sleeping in the booth. Secondly, when collecting the tip, the waitress immediately opened it up to make sure it was sufficient. My dad requested a disposable liquid cup container for our leftover food and they refused to provide this to us as it appeared to be an absurd request. Instead of asking why, she flat out denied us. They even charge a $1 disinfection fee-- Like to clean your own supplies like any place would? What are you doing that's special than elsewhere? I would not come back again. I frequent Chinese restaurants often (626 native) and I know service is not the best..... but this is one of the lowest experiences I had. I tried Rainbow Kitchen a couple weeks ago while in Vegas and unfortunately was not particularly impressed with the food here. We stopped by around 7p on a Tuesday night and there were only a few other groups so our party of 9 was seated immediately when we got there. Staff was nice enough and there was plenty of parking in front. We ordered about 10 dishes to split family style and while it wasn't horrible, it certainly wasn't good either - most of the dishes were over salted and the meat quality was overall poor. read more

Their hot and sour soup is legendary, served in a huge steaming bowl it's rich in balanced flavor with just the right blend of heat and vinegar. Judging from the clientele and the free flowing conversations in Chinese their extensive menu has many authentic dishes along with familiar offerings to this American palate. I ordered a stir fried spicy squid with celery and mushrooms. It was delicious. The squid were cooked to flavorful perfect tenderness with a bit of chewiness. My Vegetarian dining companion had their exceptional Buddha feast. The dish had a mix of fresh bok choy, carrots, broccoli, napa cabbage and 3 kinds of mushrooms topped with rich vegetable broth sauce seasoned with garlic accompanied by chunks of fried tofu. Rainbow kitchen serves the best dim sum in town. They have their own dim sum chefs and made dim sum fresh daily. They are all very delicious & unique unlike from other restaurants in town. Most Chinese restaurants nowadays bought dim sum from "dim sum factory" since hiring dim sum chef is hard. The servers are very attentive and helpful. They came to check on us & and refill our tea periodically. We love their secret chef menu. However you need to pre order it couple hours ahead of time or a day before for preparation. My brother recommended this restaurant to us. This was not here 5 years ago when we lived here. I have not had a really good Chinese restaurant since Hong Kong Garden burned down on Spring Mt. & Jones. We ordered the seafood pan fried noodles. The gravy was good and all the seafood and vegetables were tender. That only bad thing was that they didn't give you enough gravy which left the noodles dry. We also ordered fried green beans. These were breaded and was seasoned with garlic. It was a unique dish which we quite enjoyed Eggplant in black bean sauce with fish was a really good choice. The pieces of was cooked perfectly with no crunchy pieces. The only con was we couldn't find the fish pieces. We could taste it, just couldn't see them We ordered orange beef but received orange chicken. Good dish if you want American Chinese, but was not what we were looking for. The Walnut shrimp had too much mayonnaise and was not sweet enough. The shrimp pieces were good sizes. The star of the dinner was the beef chow fun! This had tender pieces of beef with smoked sesame oil flavoring and just the right amount of soy sauce. This is one dish I would recommend. Everything we had here was good. This might be one of the better "authentic" Chinese restaurants in town. Some of their dishes are so unique and outstanding, while there are ones that are falling a bit short. You're in and out fast. The service is quick. Weekend morning/brunch time around 10a.m. has a line that's about 30 minutes, and mostly Chinese people. So you know it's the real deal. Memorable dishes- Crispy fried turnip cake- 5/5 stars. Sounds nasty, but IYKYK. It's so good, especially if you're a turnip cake fan at the dim sum, then this will semi-blow your mind. I had to ask the lady to describe the dish since I had never had it and most of it is in Chinese I can't even keep up with the menu. Chive dumpling- 2.5/5 stars. It was below average than other chive dumplings. Walnut shrimp- 4/5 stars. I mean, shrimp and mayo with candied walnuts? Messing this up is kinda hard. Chicken and shrimp xiaomai- 3/5 stars. I was bummed out they had no pork shumai, since it's my fave. IT was good. BBQ pork bun- 3/5 stars. Chow mein- 2/5 stars. It was lacking in flavor. I'd pass. Roast Duck- 4/5 stars. It was so greasy but cooked to perfection and had great flavor. Garlic tips sautéed in garlic- 5/5 stars. It was so good, I couldn't stop thinking about this dish for weeks. Went back a month later and was told it was out of season and no longer available. But, this is the standout dish for me. HK crispy noodle- 3/5 stars. It didn't have enough MSG for me. On a trip last year we had lunch here while in town. Since we had a big group we decided to try this Chinese restaurant for dinner for our group of 8. The waitress was really nice although the service was really slow. We had to wait like 10-15 min before they came to take our order. It was on the busier side and I did see several take out orders on the table beside us. I think it took between 30-40 minutes before we got our first dish which was the House special steamed chicken. We ordered a whole chicken but they came to tell us later that they didn't have a whole chicken, only half. The rest of the food came out slowly one by one. Overall the food was just okay. In comparison to Chinese food in Monterey Park it was not as flavorful. The string beans were too salty but they had a good crisp. The beef chow fun had a bit of a burnt taste. The steamed chicken was pretty good. The braised tofu was also good. The sweet and sour chicken and seafood Chow mein were not bad. For large familes/groups, this place is not a bad choice but just be aware that it won't be a quick meal. Parking is plentiful in the plaza, too, so that is a plus. read more

In our continuing search for good Chinese food, and at the suggestion of others, we decided to check out this place although it'a a good half-hour drive from where we live. First, it's always nice to be able to find a parking space. Absolutely no hassle. Second, the restaurant itself was bright and cheerful, and it looked really clean. There were several diners who were leaving and immediately, there's a staff cleaning the tables to get them ready for new diners. A man in a vest was constantly walking around, chatting with people, and it appeared he was checking in on everything around him. There was not a gaggle of servers talking among themselves. Everyone was hustling! We ordered Singapore noodles, fish with black bean sauce and for appetizer jelly fish with shredded chicken. I always think that if they can make this appetizer well, then it's a good sign. And they did The serving that was so generous we were able to take some home to enjoy the next day. The fish was perfectly cooked, it was really moist and seasoned well. The noodles were slightly dry but the shrimp with the noodles, like the fish, was perfectly cooked, plump and scrumptious. We liked that the staff was very attentive and that made this trip so well worth it. Why 4 stars? Well....because of the Singapore noodles --- it was tasty but not the best we've ever had. I asked @LasVegasFill 'where's some great dimsum?' and he quickly replied with this location, which I'd already bookmarked :) Arrived on a friday, about 2pm, restaurant was about half full. From across the room they waved to us to take a seat in a booth. Some menus were dropped off and a clipboard with paper menu for ordering dimsum. So I dont know if they do the 'cart thing' when its busier or not. I posted the paper menu for others, there is a secret decoder with a symbol indicating the price (we didnt figure this out till after). The menu is pretty substantial. We ordered hot tea and water. The tea is delivered in a pot with the tea leaves steeping inside, and they brought us an extra pot of hot water to add to it (it gets stronger, alot stronger). There is also a nifty candle platform if you want to keep it hot. We ordered lots of shrimp balls, glutinous rice in tea leaves, sausage buns, gai lan w/oyster, shu mai, sesame balls. One of the shrimp ball concoctions came with XO sauce. The XO sauce is a dried shrimp/spice concoction that is super delicious but spicy. Mmmm. They even sell it. The shu-mai were bigger than most, and delicious. The gai-lan serving, perfectly cooked, was enormous (enough for 4 people or more), my only complaint here is that I wish I could get a 1/2 serving, I hated leaving food on the table. The service was impeccable, friendly and they were especially helpful when I asked about things like the XO sauce. Great food, classy digs, friendly quick service, yeah we got 5 stars here. The Husband went by today to get a Whole Roast Duck to go. The price went up to $31.99 now. It usually came with rice but this time they did not pack any. When my Husband asked about it, they reluctantly packed him a smaller box of it. We also love the duck jus for our rice and duck and always request this and decline the standard plum sauce that typically accompanies roast duck. My Husband asked for a couple more of the duck jus to go and when he got home, I noticed it was the plum sauce instead. I called to let them know about the error and asked if we could come back to get more of the duck jus instead. The man who answered spoke to a lady and he said they gave us 3 duck jus containers and 1 plum. I told him I was looking at the containers and this was not the case. It was very challenging just to get more duck jus when this was never an issue before. I'm not sure if this was the owner or not on the phone, but it was such a different experience from when we visited during COVID and picked up our Roast Duck then. I understand the pricing can go up, but not including rice anymore is unfortunate. And then becoming argumentative over some sauce isn't great for customer service. We notice how busy they are and have been wanting to try their dim sum, but will need to re-evaluate that based on this experience. read more

This was an absolute best choice of places to eat on Father's Day! My husband has been here with coworkers and had been wanting to bring the family here for sometime. I was so impressed with everything! We waited a short time to be seated. The restaurant was full- good indication of a fine experience. We ordered all of our favorite dishes, (see pictures) but my favorite dish was the roasted crispy pork. I could have eaten that whole dish myself. All dishes were family style. My next favorite dish was the beef chow fun- the fat wide noodles were so good and my son has now discovered his favorite noodle. The best part about this experience was that for feeding a party of 9, our ticket was extremely reasonable! We left a good tip for the swift and friendly service as well. First time eating at this place. I wish I had read the reviews prior to coming here. I would give this place zero stars. The service was horrible, and that's going by dim sum restaurant standards. We weren't expecting Michelin star service, but one of the servers was just rude. The food was mid and definitely not worth the wait. In short, I would absolutely recommend choosing to eat at another Chinese restaurant. FOOD: 6/10 The salt and pepper pork chops was the only thing tasty. Not too oily and not too salty. The beef chow fun dry was a bit bland and there were thick clumps of noodles. The cooks could have spent a minute to separate the noodles better. Not much flavor to this dish. Reminds me of China A Go Go. The shrimp and chicken siu mai was sweet. We've been eating dim sum for over twenty years and never had sweet siu mai. Cook grabbed the sugar instead of the MSG? The har cau was mid. Thick chunks of shrimp but not much flavor. The rice? We must've caught the workers mid-harvest because we had to ask for it twice after initially ordering it and the steamed rice came last when we were nearly finished with the meal. SERVICE: 1/10 The initial server disappeared and we had to flag her down on her way to helping the table next to us. She was inattentive was unable or unwilling to answer our questions. Chalk it up to a lack of communication skills or inability to understand English. We noticed that the Asina-looking customers received better service. If they only knew that I am part Chinese I think the service would have been better. Never once did they come to refill our tea and water. Never once did they come to check in to see if we received all of our order. My wife had to stop another waitress and ask for the rice we ordered. This rude lady said "No" and walked away. That was a what-the-hell moment and a first. Only after we had voiced our concerns did another waitress and waiter bring our order. My wife asked a waitress twice for a dish for her chili oil and was just ignored by the same rude waitress. Not that the waitress didn't hear my wife's request. The waitress looked at my wife, acknowledged her request and just ignored her and walked away. OVERALL: 3/10 If not for the salt and pepper pork chops, this place would receive a zero out of ten. My family had a CNY's eve meal here and it was a solid ok. I wish I could remember all the things we ordered, but only three things stand out in my mind: salt & pepper tofu, roasted squab, and the steamed crab. Of those three, I would order the tofu and probably the crab. The problem with the squab was that it tasted gamyer than roasted duck, but also tasted as if the meat had spoiled. No one in my family got sick eating it, so maybe it wasn't spoiled, but it tasted 'off.' I've had squab before, but not Chinese roasted, so maybe that was what was throwing me off. The crab was very flavorful, but overly seasoned. It was salty and had a lot of black pepper, and my mother couldn't eat it. If you live in the neighborhood, I'm guessing Rainbow Kitchen does well, but I would rather patronize the Chinese restaurants that I frequent on spring Mountain Road. read more

I love that I don't have to go all they way to Chinatown for dim sum, and this is down the street from my house. They usually have a wait if you go earlier in the day. Luckily, I like to sleep in and have always shown up after 1 pm or later, and there's no wait. I like to come with 4 or more ppl so we can have a large variety of dishes. I didn't take photos of every dish. We've had so many trips here including our family after Christmas get together where lobster, fried whole fish, kicked up cauliflower with bits of tasty shredded pork, S&P pork chop, Peking duck (with fluffy and fresh bao), dim sum, HK style chowmein, Honey walnut shrimp, etc...the list goes on. We went for lunch on a Monday afternoon and luckily there was no wait. We were seated promptly but had to flag someone for a menu after waiting for several minutes with no acknowledgement from anyone. We ordered typical dishes - beef pan fried noodle, spicy/salt pork chops, siomai, har gaw, stuffed shrimp. Everything was tasty. We tried the roast pork which was good but wish it was warmer temperature wise and the skin was crispier. Overall the meal itself was great but literally only 1 person said 2 words the entire time to say "it's hot". Rainbow Kitchen is one of my new go-to places in LV! The dim sum was SO fresh and SO good. Loved that they have items I haven't seen elsewhere like Lobster dumplings and the Scallop with XO sauce dumpling (must have!!) I always judge a place by their pan fried chive dumpling and it came out SO fresh and juicy. Even the left overs were still juicy when I reheated at home! The durian pastry is a MUST HAVE and I don't even like durian. The bbq pork pastry is one of the BEST I've ever had. It came out so hot and fresh. I could've ate an order to myself. Pricing is super reasonable and they also have so many other dishes like hainan chicken, fried rice, duck, lobster, etc. Dim sum is also served all day. My party of 3 was able to be seated immediately, but we weren't approached by a waiter until I waved one down 20 minutes later. Waiters and servers all had really bad attitudes. The high chair they gave us to use was filthy. The plates they served food on were chipped. We were told that the roast duck and rice would take a while so I cancelled it off of our order and ordered just a side of steamed rice for my son instead. The rice never came out. When we asked for the bill, the waiter handed it to me, basically shoving it in my face with to-go boxes we didn't ask for. After paying, they brought out the roasted duck & rice that I had cancelled. While looking over the bill to make sure it was correct, I noticed that they charge a $1 disinfecting fee... as if disinfecting should be an option or order. It's a shame, but I still have yet to be impressed with any dim sum place I've tried in Las Vegas. To Rainbow Kitchen's credit, they've been the best one yet. Their dim sum is fresh, and the seafood they use isn't too fishy like some places tend to get. They have all the dim sum staples, as well as unique items such as Lobster or Truffle Shrimp dumplings. Unfortunately, portions run small. Pricing here makes absolutely no sense. The Walnut Shrimp costs as much as the Chicken Feet. A plate of Salt & Pepper Squid, despite substantially more food, costs only a few dollars more than their Shrimp and Chive Dumplings which only comes with 3 dumplings. Meanwhile, the Shrimp-only Dumplings, which in theory has higher cost to the restaurant, actually comes with one more dumpling (4 total) despite being the same price point as the Shrimp and Chive Dumplings. I could keep going. Maybe value-hunting the menu is an endearing aspect for the older Asian population that dominated the clientele here when I visited? Regardless of their pricing shenanigans, expect somewhere in the $20s per person depending on what you order, which is pretty standard nowadays. All in all, this will be the place I recommend if someone is desperately craving dim sum in Vegas, but I'm still looking for a go-to. An important note: Their windows are not tinted. I came here with the outside being in the 50Fs, but was still burning up sitting window-side. I was seated along their south-facing windows, and despite their curtains down, the heat from the sun was noticeably radiating through and making it feel like 80F. However, my most recent discovery was a restaurant that is less than 10 minutes away. Picture this - I just finished working out and was starving. I had this craving for dim sum but didn't feel like driving too far. Jumping onto Yelp, I found Rainbow Kitchen. As soon as I entered, I knew I found a good one as the place was packed and filled with lively patrons. I sat down and ordered some usual items: Shrimp and chive dumplings - simple and classic. Roast pork - love the moist meat with the crispy skin to add different textures. It came with pickled vegetables to help cut through the oil. Egg tart - love this flaky and subtly sweet dessert. Pan fried noodles in soy sauce - a dry noodle dish with just bean sprouts as vegetables, I love how these noodles are thinner than your typical chow mein yet not so thin to be crunchy. It's simple but the reason I keep coming back. The service was quick even though it was clearly rush hour. Just another reason why I keep coming back for more. read more
