A dear friend I haven't seen for a few months invited me to join her for lunch on Labor Day. She chose the Rainbow Kitchen because she had been there before. We met at 11 AM, their opening time. Within about 20 minutes, the restaurant was nearly filled. She immediately ordered duck and then we took our time looking over the extensive menu. I ordered the spicy house chicken and she ordered choy sum for both of us. This was enough to share and I have dinner for tonight in the refrigerator. The duck was crispy and flavorful. We shared the chicken and I liked it but it wasn't as spicy as I had hoped. When you see a little red chili on a Cantonese restaurant menu, don't believe it. There is some spice but it's not spicy hot. Nevertheless, it was good! The winning dish for me was the choy sum with garlic. The greens were just perfect. Lots of flavor from the garlic and just the right amount of oil. As I said before, the place filled up quickly. It may have been because it was a holiday. The place was noisy with people talking and enjoying each other's company. I was lucky with ordering because my friend speaks Cantonese and she did some of the ordering. Came here to check it out, see if it lived up to the reviews and it sure did. I'm picky when it comes to Chinese food. All you need to know is this. You won't be disappointed. Lack of service. Servers ignored you when you come in. They gave you one menu to share. Food is much more expensive than other Chinese restaurants. Booths are old and torn and uncomfortable. Food found stuck in crevices. Dirty environment and food portion is tiny. And the taste? Not impressive at all! Okayyy Rainbow Kitchen!! Finally an awesome dim sum restaurant in the southwest area! Group of us showed up on a Saturday 11AM when they open, and they already had a line outside. Restaurant filled up really quickly! We order the dishes through marking up the menu. No carts going around, but we noticed that each item was made to order because of how hot each dish was when it was served to our table. One downside is that dishes come out a bit slower. Don't get me wrong, the food here is very good. If you walk inside, you will see a lot of Chinese people dining here. 3 stars? Walking into the restaurant to dine in, we stood at the doorway. and was not being helped. It was in the late afternoon, it was still a bit busy, but there were open tables. After being seated, it took a long time for sunshine to come to the table, and the waiter seemed very grumpy. The help here speak very little English, so it's very hard to understand what is being said. Good luck asking any questions too. Again, the food was pretty good. This might be my favorite dim sum spot in Vegas! It's very relaxed, the establishment is clean, and they seem like they really know what they're doing. The dim sum are pretty homemade, and fresh. I loved the changfun with the fried donut, as well as the hargow. What was also delicious was the tripe with ginger and scallion. The roasted duck here is to die for. One bite into the crispy skin and a splash of duck fat attacks your palate. But it doesn't stop there. Continue to chew and you will taste the deliciously seasoned duck meat. Chase it with a small bit of rice and you'll be drunk! The seafood here is also a must try. Their lobster and crab are both tasty. The menu is humongous so there are various options for just about anyone. Service here is what I would consider normal in Asian culture, but to the unknown, service would be considered somewhat rude and quite slow. Just moved to Vegas not too long ago and certainly on a mission to look for good asian restaurants. As an asian American and originally from NYC my standards of canto/chinese food is high. This gem has far exceeded my expectations. The food flavoring and texture is what you want for quality canto food. The portion is good and the price is very fair. Service was bad, barely got checked on and they had black face when asked to refill tea and water. I feel like they weren't happy because we declined all their upsells. Once we sat down they would not stop putting these " special entrees " in our face. Like sheesh. Stop with the hard sell. Fast forward to bill time. There was a price discrepancy and I insisted they fix it, so they did. Then she told me she had to automatically add 18% for a large party. FIRST OF ALL, the auto gratuity was not on the original bill, so that made no sense. I feel like she added it at will because she had to adjust the price. So that was a lie right there. SECOND OF ALL, it's dim sum. Who doesn't bring a large group of at least 8 to dim sum. I doubt they are auto charging gratuity on every single bill. People will not be happy with that. Especially since it's off the strip. Maybe they do that at super busy restaurants in popular places. But you're just a small restaurant in a neighborhood community. On top of that, we were just 4 adults and 2 little kids. Large group????? That's ridiculous. I told her I don't agree with that and she took off the automatic gratuity. THIRD OF ALL, they auto charge gratuity ON TOP OF TAX. Super Sneaky. Check your bills. Never check their precalculated amounts. They are calculating after food and tax. I'm very happy that we finally have a Chinese restaurant that is in the Southwest that compares to one in Chinatown. So I came here earlier this morning and Yes!! They are open on Thanksgiving! Trying to find something open is hard enough. The food here is very reasonable prices and quality is on point. I had a lot of dishes here and I love every single thing I have eaten here. This restaurant was open right before covid hit, I'm glad it stayed afloat and is still in business! We would have lost a real gem! First impression is very telling of what to expect in a restaurant's mettle. The first thing I noticed was the table setting, in particular the two chopsticks. In very VERY high end restaurants will you find this place setting, some even include a individual serving spoon in the place setting. If a dining place goes to such detail I would being very excited in anticipation from what to expect in their meals. Well we didn't have long to experience food we ordered. We ordered some very simple dishes for a light snack for dinner, we ordered a hot and sour soup, a house pan fried noodles (they heard wrong and gave us the seafood pan fried noodles), not a problem still very good nonetheless, and the piece d resistance the bittermelon fish. We were expecting a light snack but what we got was much much more. The serving size was quite a good portion and boy was it good. The hot and sour soup had all the good ingredients like bamboo shoots, preserved vegetables, tofu and wood fungus. The only item which I don't like is the pepper flakes which is used, I just don't like the surprise I get later from it. I'm a wimp, I admit it. The seafood pan fried noodles were done with very crispy noodles and a very good gravy with lots of squid, fish, shrimp and wonderful Chinese broccoli, yummy. The star of the show was the bittermelon fish. They did a wonderful job of stir frying the bittermelon in a black bean sauce. The bittermelon was crunchy and not overcooked like some other restaurants cook it. What a wonderful dish if one likes bittermelon. This restaurant is a huge keeper. read more

What a great dim sum place tucked away in a shopping center. The service was better than expected. Sat us down immediately and brought waters for us. We opted for the crab dumplings, lobster dumblings, and crispy pork belly. The crab dumpling was chock full of king crab meat, which was the overall flavor and texture of this item. The lobster dumpling was a bit lacking compared to the crab, but still really nice overall. I'm a sucker for pork belly and the preparation of it here was spot on. It looks like it would be skin on given the crisp crust it had, but it was just perfectly rendered crispy fat. I would love to come back and order the whole lobster, which looked to be their specialty. Make sure to order hot tea. Ok... I get it. Things are not perfect here. Sure the dishes have some chips. They do charge per person for tea, and they charge a $1 sanitization fee. But I paid $42 (before tip) and I walked out of here satisfied and impressed. Place has the usual atmosphere you'd expect from a good Chinese restaurant. Lots of people here eating, and not a lot of empty seats. As much as I like Pingpangpong, Orchid's Garden, Yum Cha, Palette, Tim Ho Wan, Din Tai Fung, and Shanghai Taste my bill is $60+ whenever I go to these places. I had 6 items here. Turnip Cake with Xo Sauce, 2 Crispy Salty Dumpling, 1 Ground Beef Rice Roll, and 2 Glutinous Rice w/ Chinese Sausage. All of the items were impressive and delicious. My partner and I left extremely happy. However, do some research before you go here. Order from the Dim Sum. Look at the pictures here on yelp, check the reviews on YouTube. Have an idea of what you want before you go here and you will be extremely impressed. I will be frequenting this place once every two weeks, if not once a week. The workers here are rude. I guess if you don't take offense to their actions, you'll be fine, but I didn't appreciate it. Actually, the ONLY kind person was the token Mexican they had working. He was super friendly and helpful. The rest are grumpy old Asians. They also messed up our order but because we were all hungry we didn't care, just brushed it off. The food was decent but nothing to really go nuts about. Also, I'm Asian but walked in with my husband and brother in law who are both white and our friends who arrived later were another mixed couple. The servers decided to instantly take away our chopsticks, replaced them with forks, assuming we all didn't know how to use them. Just really rude. Honestly close to the best dim sum I have ever had, and I have been to over 25+ places, even in Hong Kong. Their rice noodles with shrimp and bbq pork were very fresh and tasted really good. Also, I believe it was more on the healthy side since they used more chicken in their dumplings instead of fatty pork. Service was good. Very accommodating.
