OMG, this harbor is so beautiful at night! I went for a scooter ride on the walking path at Rainbow Marina last Winter, and the experience was super fun. The scenery was gorgeous, and the sky sprinkled with rain, making the ride exciting. Attached is a picture of me on the rented scooter, which does not do justice. I had to slow down for the camera lol. Anyway, I encourage any of you to rent those e-scooters they have around the area and try riding at full speed for that "adrenaline rush." What a great place to enJOY a beautiful day in Long Beach, CA! Rainbow Harbor and Marina offers an abundance of things to do and see. Take a stroll on the wide pathways, walk the short piers, stop at the many vendors on site for some snacks or just walk along and admire the super tall palm trees that adorn the area. You can people watch, marvel at the boats docked in the marina, and even make your way to Lions Lighthouse. This is a wonderful place to come and get some fresh air and vitamin D in the midst of the ongoing pandemic. Amazing place to take a date, day or night, or go with a group, family or friends. There's something for everyone here and you will not be disappointed. If you're not an outdoorsy type, you might just become one after a visit here! There are many places to park, but on the day we went, we parked at Shoreline Village. We rented a surrey from Wheel Fun and they validate. I think it was about $5 on our way out, and that was for about 4 or 5 hours. Get those steps in because it IS a bit of a walk from Shoreline to the Harbor and Marina area. It's pretty crowded on weekends. On holiday weekends, it gets packed like sardines! We went the weekend of Valentine's Day and it was crowded, but still pleasant enough to walk through because people were being mindful of social distancing. If you have little ones, it's a great place to take them. The walkways are wide so navigating strollers isn't a problem at all. They'll love exploring and it would be a great little "field trip" for the school aged kids if they're still stuck at home with distance learning. What a beautiful place. Calm, peaceful with amazing views all the way around. Some restaurants get quite the water view from the patio nearby to here! You can walk along the water to Shoreline Village from here. Walk-able from downtown. Nice view of the lighthouse. It was a beautiful day without a cloud in the sky. Queen Mary in full view. This is my favorite part of the town. Take a relaxing walk, have a meal, buy some presents and enjoy the views of The Lions Lighthouse and The Queen Mary! They also rent speed boats per hour, so if you feel adventurous you can venture out on your own and make it even more memorable. read more

The Rainbow Harbor and Marina is a wonderful place to take your whole friends and family! Coming from the snow states, we are not used to seeing all the water and ocean up close. The tours of rainbow harbor are extremely inviting and it did remind me of being inside of a vacation commercial or something!! I posted the times/schedule that they happen to sail off. The park is extremely big and we did go and buy our tickets at a friendly counter. Once you arrive where you need to go, there are lots of gift shops and food to dine And enter a carefree mindset. I think this was definitely a cool trip that I took two years ago and still want to take Nick. He himself has never stepped foot inside California and the whole state might just take him by surprise. Rainbow Harbor and Marina is located just south of downtown Long Beach on Queensway Bay at the southern tip of the Los Angeles River. This is a great place to take a stroll next to the water. It's in a great location with the Pike Outlets (outlet mall with Ferris wheel), Aquarium of the Pacific, Shoreline Aquatic Park, and numerous shops and restaurants close-by. It's a relatively modern, safe, clean, and walkable area. The harbor and marina have numerous docks and slips for a variety of boats. A lot of businesses operate out of here including whale watching tours, dinner cruises, recreational fishing charters (e.g. sport fishing), and other private boat and watercraft charters/rentals. On busy days, food and refreshment stands will open on the docks selling hot dogs, ice cream, and whatnot. Generally, this place feels modestly sized and quaint. Like adjacent Shoreline Aquatic Park, Rainbow Harbor and Marina is well maintained. The property is in good condition, free of trash and debris, and the wooden walkways are lined in picturesque, tall palm trees. There is one pier you are free to walk out on, Pine Avenue Pier. It's small, but has benches and nice views of the park, lighthouse, bay, and the historic RMS Queen Mary. Fishing is allowed here and you don't need a license. Also part of Pine Avenue Pier is a collection of mostly chain restaurants. They include Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, P.F. Chang's, Famous Dave's BBQ, Gladstone's (seafood, live music), and Tokyo Wako (Japanese steakhouse). There are a few different places you can park and they all cost money. The best place to park for the harbor, marina, and restaurants is the surface lot directly in front of Chili's, Outback, and P.F. Chang's. It runs parallel to W Shoreline Dr and is accessible via both Aquarium Way and Pine Ave. In summary, both Rainbow Harbor and Marina and Shoreline Aquatic Park are perfect for a walk before or after a meal/activity in the neighborhood. My review is for my event experience at this location, great venue (place picked for event). Stunt Man, Lots going on, fireworks and a bunch of bars and restaurants still open for everyone to enjoy. Crowded? YeS! Don't bring your kids here, its not a good environment for them - drinking & lots of people. Parking Crazy? YeS! Park near Walmart and take a free tram to the pier. Plenty of porta potties? Yes. If you can't find one, you'll definitely find something open..every restaurant/bar is open. Drinks? Plenty of bars open, but many have cover charge. Event started at 6am till whenever you leave ;) Worth going? YeS! Its FREEEE! Rows of restaurants (even 7-11) with live band area, leads to huge open area with xmas tree/decorations up and a huge tv & stereo system....that leads toward the pier where everyone waits and pushes to watch the stunt. *Tip: If you're going to just watch stunt next time, try to walk across the bridge that leads to the cage area for best view. So close to home and there's always something going on.... this particular day we went on a boat ride and came back into the harbor when we saw something out of the ordinary, a barge with people chillin' and drinking under the hot sun. Ok let's go see what this is about! There was a launch party for the new season on #Wrecked and we had to sign papers stating we were over 21 and that we might be filmed while enjoying this free event. I don't watch this TV show but we had fun. We took advantage of the free water and beers they generously gave out and played fun arcade style games. read more

Stay away from the arcade!!! We went there on Sunday, super crowded, but my kid wanted to play some games. Used the automated card machine to get a card to play the games. It wouldn't take cash. That's a big sign I should have noticed!!! I used my card, and I have since had $3,000 worth of fraud charges in 2 fucking days. Stay away from here!! read more

Pure awesomeness. Just incredibly amazing (: Friend and I stopped by here and took long walks around after seeing a movie at the Pike. I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and view of it all. This was my first time in Long Beach after almost 10 years, and things obviously changed a lot since the first time i went to LB. I didn't remember seeing a huge harbor and whatnot by the Aquarium of the Pacific years ago, so it was a nice change of things to see. I had a vivid memory of the lighthouse, and it was just so nice to be back. Everything here was well-kept... nice green fresh grass, clean walkways, etc. Very family-friendly. Fun place to take kids too also and let them run around and have fun, like chasing pigeons which we saw some kids do. Haha. And speaking of pigeons, there were a few weird people around... bums, mostly. We saw one guy who looked like he was worshiping pigeons or something; pretty amusing. Nothing harmful to the rest haha. Even though all we did was walk around and take in the beautiful views, we saw many cool options anyone can take when making a stop here. There are whale watching cruises you can go on, along with renting a boat. I also saw a boat for a Murder Mystery dinner and that sure sounds like fun if you're into having a very interesting and active time out on a boat. Can't forget the countless dining options along the harbor. We assumed the foods and whatnot were quite pricey but the places looked great and active, nonetheless. Wish we had gone to the Aquarium but it was getting a little late for that, so hopefully next time, along with another nice walk down Rainbow Harbor. read more

I used to come here a lot during the weekend and take the Blue Line. Now, it has been a couple years and this time, it was not for leisure. It was for business. I arrived in Long Beach around 8:15. I parked at Shoreline Park/Rainbow Harbor. I was supposed to park over at the Hyatt Regency, but I was going to take in the harbor air. Parking is $8. I saw a lot of kids this morning and was wondering what was going on. I forgot that the Aquarium of the Pacific was on site. I walked towards the dock and it was like I remembered many years ago, probably even cleaner. Everything I saw was seemed it came right out of a dream. Queen Mary in the background, the lighthouse, and ships leaving the harbor. I thought I was in New England or Maine for a moment. Unfortunately, I could not stay long. However, it was the best 45 minutes to hang around. I love when big buildings are just watching the harbor. Now, I am trying to imagine if I lived near the harbor in one of those luxury condos or apartments. It may happen. Long Beach, I missed you and I am glad to have returned after many years away. There's plenty of fun to be had down here. Lots of good walking, bicycling, the marina to look at, the Aquarium to go to, boat rides (I especially recommend the Port of Long Beach tour)... A short walk or a red shuttle will take you to the Pike or downtown LB proper. Watch out though for special events and peak holiday times - it can get massively mobbed, and becomes less fun. I especially love riding through it on a bike, at night. It makes me feel lucky to be alive, and lucky to live in a place like the LBC. read more

Stephanie is a horrible customer service rep. She was very short and didn't seem like she wanted to help. She only mentioned another marina after I asked her for her name...(oh, now you wanna help me?) If the owners knew how she conducted her self on the phone with potential guests/ tenants, she'd be fired or be put in some serious customer service courses. Man, the attitude on her was unbelievable. It's kinda romantic :) Went on a few dates here before during the weeknights and found it incredibly chill and intimate. Because you're so close to the water, the breeze can be a little chilly. But as it gets closer to the summer, the breeze probably won't bite as bad ;) There's some nice, semi-inexpensive spots to grab a bite to eat and a lovely boardwalk to walk off the calories and star gaze. It's safe enough to come solo as well, if you need to process whatever life is throwing at ya. Make sure you spoil yourself in one of the treat shops if that's the case :p read more

We rented a guest slip for two nights. The first night, a few boats in slips near the walking ramp to the restaurants were playing rap music with really unacceptable language so loudly that it filled the entire marina. Language consisted of fu, pu, ni, etc. There were girls in string thongs twerking with an audience of men watching. It was unfortunate that so many families had to be exposed. The music and loud voices continued until 2am. The second night, two of the boats played music for a short time. The third boat played later into the evening. There was a large man sitting in this boat alone with his music blasting. The boat has an advertisement on the side for a restaurant. Fortunately, he did not play music past 10pm. We had the phone number for harbor patrol and were ready to call if we had to the second night. The water in the marina is filthy. We've never seen so much trash in marina water. The docks were clean. There are great restaurants in the marina. The staff in the marina office are extremely helpful. They felt bad when we went in the second day looking for a slip further away from the offenders. They also gave us the phone number to call if the noise continued a second night. We would have rated this marina as a "1" if not for the restaurants and marina office staff. Bathrooms/showers for renters were okay. Beware: You'll need an attachment to hook up to power on the first dock. Be sure to ask what is needed if you rent a slip. read more

This body of water stretches along the downtown Long Beach Harbor. It is dotted with private boats and hotels. Cruise ships can dock in the area. The iconic Queen Mary is also permanently docked in the harbor. Along the water there are many chain restaurants and small shops if you're looking for So Cal souvenir. There are several parking structures where you can pay to park as well. While this area is beautiful, especially when lit up at night, it lose stars for the upkeep and care given by the city. The amount of trash in the water is appalling. The Los Angeles river dumps into the harbor, and it is apparent by, not only small trash, but large items such as a mattress and truck bedliner. Came here to see the Red Bull Flutag. The views are awesome and the extend that people go to make costumes is awesome. Parking becomes a nightmare during huge events, it's much better to park somewhere else and take taxi or bus. I love this area... its a nice place to walk and enjoy an afternoon. Lots of stuff to look at... places to stop and eat if you so desire... great for the kids... clean and well kept.
