    Don't come here. Seriously!!

Do not rent here, they have major safety issues with the boats and frankly don't seem to care too much. We were out and the rudder LITERALLY came off the boat while we were sailing. We lost control of the boat(obviously) and did a 180 degree spin in the middle of the harbor. Fortunately there were no boats in the immediate are but it was very dangerous and frankly pretty scary. I've been sailing for 30 years and have never had that happen before. Needless to say, we immediately brought in the sails and motored back in. We were only out for about 45 minutes when that happened and lost the rest of the day. After telling the staff about what happened, they just offered a half sincere apology and told us we were "all set to go". I asked "um, we lost a half day of sailing because of this, could we get some sort of discount?" The guy at the desk kindly declined any refund and said they "might give a discount the next time". Thank you, but there won't be a next time...ever. Find another place to rent from. You might not have any problems here, and it might be uncommon or rare, but if something happens you won't get any sort of customer service or credit against a lost afternoon. I'd say this was by far the most expensive and disappointing 2 hours I've ever spent on the water.

Hi Gary and Marina Sailing Team, Just wanted to let you know that Angela did a fantastic job teaching us over the weekend on the 104/114 class! We all learned a ton and definitely enjoyed learning on the 40' Leopard! Thanks again!

II had joined Marina Sailing Club over 15 years ago and I have had many wonderful years of great experiences which has led me to buying a boat of my own. I joined not knowing how to sail and went through their thorough and fun sailing courses including several advanced courses. I Since 1998 until now I have rented about 12 different yachts ranging from 30ft to 47ft Mono hulls from Long Beach, Redondo and Marina del Rey, totaling 140 days on the water, Every one to the boats throughout the years have been impeccably maintained and clean, they introduce new boats into the fleet throughout the years and cycle out the older yachts so you are always sailing on a relatively new yacht. I have also had the pleasure of traveling several time to the Caribbean (BVI, Canouan, St Marteen) with this fun group of sailors for week long sailing adventures. I would highly recommend this club for new sailors, to experienced sailors whether you want to captain the boat, crew on the boat or just enjoy the experience on the water with a group of fun loving scallywags. ARRRRG!

    We're sailing!

The staff was friendly and helpful too! The only thing I'd recommend to anyone wanting to do an excursion is to check the tide schedule for the day you're thinking of going out. Aim to go when the tide is somewhat low because high tide limits the areas you're able to access with the Duffy.

The booking process has serious potential. The receptionist was pretty and friendly - but that was about it. Even though everything was prepaid, I had to present a physical credit card. All I had was my phone. She said they sent me a txt. True, but they send two to confirm after the booking and the morning of the rental, and one an hour before we arrived - we have a two hour drive, mentioning a waiver for the first time, and no mentioning of a credit card. By chance we had one (all of us had plenty on their phones). otherwise we would have not got the boat. Then, kind of brutal, came you can not go here, can't go there. This combined with them adding demands long after taking a non-returnable payment... just feels not good. When we returned, there was no one on the landing dock. We had to see how we got along, got the boat fixes while their staff were chilling in the office. Fair enough, but they should have a camera down there and see if there is any need to assist returning customers. I would not book London Boat Rental again. Watch out which times you book - do not book at hide tide.

And they're phasing out their most powerful boat, the 75hp, because of too much abuse and the associated high insurance costs. But they still offer the 40hp boat and that has plenty of power, with a top speed of about 20 knots. It comfortably seats 4 people in designated seats, but can fit an extra two people sitting up front sideways on bench seating. I had a great time. I saw seals sunbathing on the buoys, and I even saw dolphins near the first oil rig island by the Queen Mary ship. Of course you can also get a nice close-up view of the Queen Mary itself. You're allowed to go almost to the Seal Beach Municipal Pier, but not quite. 1hr duration is enough if you want to do a quick single lap of the designated ocean area. 2hrs is highly recommend if you want to take your time and not be rushed. Be sure to bring a light jacket, hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the wind and sun. The designated driver is not allowed to drink. I'm not sure if the rest of the guests are allowed to drink. Park near the Yard House restaurant and then walk to the back of the restaurant and you'll see the little hut with the staff in it. If nobody is there then look over the edge to the docked boats because the staff might be down there instead.

They have a separate bin for when you leave and there is a guy that apparently cleans them after. Overall we had a very chill and relaxing swan ride. Oh man I never published this review.. this is from our booking on Nov 26, 2025…read more. Fantastic experience from start to finish! Decided to surprise my wife with a relaxing duffy boat ride for our wedding anniversary with some friends. Went straight to Yelp to do my research (thanks Yelp!). Originally, I was going to book with a rental company for Newport Harbor, but then came across a Groupon for PCH Electric Boats. After checking out their website and reading the glowing reviews on Yelp, I immediately booked. I called to book a white duffy boat on the day before Thanksgiving. The person on the phone was friendly, courteous and really easy-going. They asked if I had a Groupon and if I could provide the voucher number. BOOM. done. all set! I received an email with VERY DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS (including photos) of where to park and where the meeting area was. Additionally, a link to the waiver form that every passenger is required to fill out (even your babies) was included in that email. On the day of our booking, we were met by the owner Grant who I'm pretty sure was the same friendly, courteous and easy-going person I talked to on the phone days earlier when I booked. He provided specific instructions on where we're allowed to go and what to avoid. He saw we had several small children in our party and recommended everyone use the restroom nearby before boarding since there is not place to stop out in the harbor. After we came back from our potty break, Grant lead us down to the dock and got all the kiddos fitted for their life vests (all in great condition btw). He assisted us with our bags so we could focus on boarding the kids safely and even took a group photo for us! The boat was clean and easy to drive. The sound system was bumping and all the windows easily lifted up for that nice harbor breeze. It was a beautiful and memorable day. On our return, Grant was at the dock with one of his employees ready to receive us. He guided us in smoothly and as we were gathering our belongings and cleaning up, he helped all the kids out and grabbed our bags. We handed Grant a tip and immediately he passed it over to his employee who was going to do the post-ride cleaning.. what a great boss!!!! Definitely will be booking with PCH Electric Boats again! Thanks Grant!!!!
