We had a lovely cruise celebrating a birthday last weekend! The boat was in perfect condition, our group of 10 to fit very comfortably with room to spare, and Captain David made us all feel right at home and taken care of! We got super lucky with a sunny day, nice wind, and hardly any swell - great conditions for a Saturday cruise with friends. Captain David quickly and easily felt like part of the fam! By the end of the trip, you might even start to consider a career as a sailor yourself!

We had another party on our charter so a total of 10 people and everyone fit perfectly. We were able to walk around and take some great pics and even more, make some amazing memories. My girlfriend had her birthday party on the boat and that was my first experience with Chill Out Sailing. It was an incredible time on open water, floating toys of all sorts and the paddle boards to explore away from the boat. The captain was very knowledgeable about everything sailing/boat related and also about the City of Long Beach. We brought our own food and alcohol, bathing suits and towels. Besides that, everything was taken care of. On my second experience with Chill Out Sailing, I went on the smaller powerboat and we saw pods and pods of dolphins and had a more intimate experience on the water. This year my birthday fell on Thanksgiving and all I wanted to do was to be on the open water. It was planned very last minute but when I reached out to David he was available and eager to make my birthday wish come true. He took me and a good friend out early Thanksgiving morning and we had an absolute blast! Captain David is an incredible host, very respectful and down to earth. His co-captain Remy also added to the experience! Together they make a great team and I wouldn't have wanted to charter with anyone else. For the touring experience he gave us plenty of options to choose from, in this case we just wanted to be on the open water. He is very familiar with the local area as well as the LA beach areas and Catalina. Next time we will definitely be taking a trip to Catalina Island. I would not hesitate to recommend Captain David to anyone. I spoke with a few other captains but as soon as I got on the phone with him, I knew he was who we wanted to charter with. My group of friends and I had a great time celebrating our birthdays on the boat with Capt. David! We had reserved 4 hours for a sunset cruise (330-730) per David's recommendation. The boat comfortably fit our group of 10. We got to bring food/drinks. We went in the open water then stopped around one of the islands and we had the option of getting into the water if we wanted. The boat has a kayak and paddle board that is free for guests to use. Definitely would recommend this to others! P. S. We Ubered/took Lyfts to the dock. I'd recommend arriving early because one of the cars missed the exit and delayed our departure. read more

Ruined Father's Day and my mom's birthday!! Bought food and drinks and drove my family out an hour to get here only to be told they didn't see my email booking that I booked and paid for a week ago and were already out at sea with different guests and nothing can be done. Incredibly disappointed. All of that only to have to turn back home with a car full of very bummed out people. This is ridiculous! read more

Love this boat and this captain! This is best most perfect idea for birthdays, bachelorettes, engagements, anniversary's etc. A few friends of mine and myself chartered this boat for 4th of July. It was absolutely incredible. Captain took us to see the fireworks smack dead in the middle of the Marina. It was absolutely breath taking. We had our very own private show. All I can say is WOW!!!! David thank you for always being so sweet, so nice, super helpful with everything and just the coolest captain ever! We will definitely be coming back for more. read more

We had an awesome day in the water with David. He was prepared, on time, and a fun guy to hang with to boot. Bonus - being a Frenchman, we all got to join him in celebrating his home country's World Cup victory! He managed to get 2 yachts with 24 people up to Malibu on a beautiful day without a hitch. We constantly found ourselves saying "Why haven't we done this before?!". Needless to say, we will book with David again soon I'm sure. read more

My friends and I had THE BEST time with Capitan David! He took us from the Marina all the way to Malibu. Once we dropped anchor he provided us with paddle boards and a floaty!! On our way back, he spotted a huge group of dolphins and turned the boat around to put us right in the middle of it. The dolphins came right up and swam along side the boat. Such a magical experience I'll never forget!! We will be back! read more

History

Established in 2013.

It all started in the South of France when I was living on a sailboat. I wanted to share our passion for sailing, so I created a bed and breakfast on a boat and offered chartering services. Life brought me to California, and now I am a certified captain for the states. I have several boats to propose and can do sunset cruises on a sailing catamaran and a luxury motoryacht.

Meet the Business Owner: David C.

Sailing has always been my passion since the age of 10. After getting my Master's degree in International Business, I decided to specialize in the yacht industry. In France, I was a yachtbroker and business owner. My wife and I were living on a sailboat and conducted a bed and breakfast chartering service. We decided to move to California in 2015 and I am now a certified captain for private charters and also a yachtbroker in Marina Del Rey.

And all though we still made the best of it it really did not live up to what was promised and the amount of money we paid. So let's start with m: 1. The address did not match what was listed on their Yelp page and created a lot of confusion and frustration especially since we had kids with us. I had to text the owner, Mario, and he gave us another location to charter form which was not at all what was listed on their page. 2. Not sure if the captain of the day,Noah, was having a bad day or what but he was definitely not in the mood to greet us properly. He was very short, not so friendly and barely spoke to us during our ride. 3. The boat was not like the photos they presented or posted on Yelp. I even texted the owner and asked him to send me a few photos of what the boat will look like. It was definitely dirty, the coaches were so damaged and dirty they had black clothes over them. One of inside couches was wet, my uncle sat on it unknowingly making his pants wet and him uncomfortable for the rest of the ride. 4. The table surfaces were all damaged & chipped. We had to be careful for the kids not to get splinters when they would approach the table to grab something to eat. 5. Worst of it all was that we only watched cargo shipments for 2 hours!! On our phone call with Mario mentioned we can go through the canals and even get a far glimpse of the Queen Mary but we didn't. We even asked Noah to take us the other way around into the open water and he said no he needs to this way first (meaning by the cargo shipments). It was very disappointing since it was my dads actual birthday and the experience was completely robbed from us. It's very sad that we wasted over a thousand dollars and didn't receive what we had paid for. And I even texted Mario afterwards telling him our concerns but didn't get a reply back. Poor customer service.

Long Beach Boat Rentals

Finally a place that rents boats that you can take into the ocean! Although you're not allowed to…read morego too far out. And they're phasing out their most powerful boat, the 75hp, because of too much abuse and the associated high insurance costs. But they still offer the 40hp boat and that has plenty of power, with a top speed of about 20 knots. It comfortably seats 4 people in designated seats, but can fit an extra two people sitting up front sideways on bench seating. I had a great time. I saw seals sunbathing on the buoys, and I even saw dolphins near the first oil rig island by the Queen Mary ship. Of course you can also get a nice close-up view of the Queen Mary itself. You're allowed to go almost to the Seal Beach Municipal Pier, but not quite. 1hr duration is enough if you want to do a quick single lap of the designated ocean area. 2hrs is highly recommend if you want to take your time and not be rushed. Be sure to bring a light jacket, hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the wind and sun. The designated driver is not allowed to drink. I'm not sure if the rest of the guests are allowed to drink. Park near the Yard House restaurant and then walk to the back of the restaurant and you'll see the little hut with the staff in it. If nobody is there then look over the edge to the docked boats because the staff might be down there instead.

SYCLB is a private club with full bar and facilities to cater to groups of approximately 100 people. You have to have a club member "sponsor" your event. We've been fortunate to hold our LA/OC/IE car club's holiday party here for the past 15 years (other than last year due to Covid). Nice facility with spectacular marina views and beyond from the second story deck, bar lounge, and event room. Bartenders are friendly and efficient, even with large groups. Catering of holiday meals has always been wonderful. Restroom facilities could use some updating, but are large and clean. Plenty of parking in private lot.

It's super easy to drive, and you can basically turn it into your own private floating lounge. We brought our own champagne and food, and the Bluetooth speakers were loud and clear. Getting a refund has been difficult. I've made many attempts to get a hold of someone at the business and via email. No one picks up the phone and I've not received a reply to my email. When a company cancels a service, issuing a prompt refund should be straightforward. Unfortunately, that isn't the case here, and it's created unnecessary stress. I would recommend being cautious when booking and confirming their refund policy ahead of time. Hopefully they improve their customer service and how they handle cancellations in the future.

They are great for a sunset cruise in the Alamitos Bay. Love the long center table and bench seating. Perfect for a light dinner or dessert. We kept the clear window flaps down as it was a bit cool at night. This was also useful as there is a tradition where locals throw water balloons at the boats that pass by. A community water balloon fight. What a strange tradition, but we were victims that managed to stay dry. Loved the views. Stayed safe from the splatter of the water balloons. Captain David does everything to make us having an amazing time on sea ! For sailing lovers, he masters the sails like no other and it is so nice to feel the breeze without hearing the engines, or smelling the smokes. We had strong wind so the boat was going fast ! and he always makes sure everyone is safe, by checking always if everyone is fine. I definitely recommend ! read more

Incredible boat trip for friends birthday! Captain David was definitely the highlight of the trip. So friendly and easy to get along with and fun to talk to. David was an amazing captain and all around great guy!! He made the trip so fun and relaxing for my 21st birthday! We went paddle boarding, kayaking, swam, and cruised and I didn't have to worry about a thing. Definitely will be booking with him again!! So so so happy with everything !! read more
