What's not to love about a rainbow store? Well that's what I thought before I walked in. Hopefully the cashier/store personnel was just having an off day, but whoa! I haven't been talked to so rudely before in a store. Ever. I asked about the stickers that were in the glass cabinet the woman associate was sitting at, and she answered in a very annoyed tone: "They're stickers!" I could not believe she gave attitude towards a customer for no reason. My child was happily looking around, but it was hard shopping at a place where the worker makes you feel unwelcome. I tried explaining why I was asking the question (because maybe she wasn't aware there are different types of stickers??? Haha), but the store associate barely looked up to acknowledge me. Btw we were the only ones in the store. It is very unfortunate because as a proud parent of an LGBTQ child, I wanted to buy some rainbow gear for our house and car. I'll be taking my business elsewhere now. read more

A cute mom-and-pop shop close to Capitola Beach! Me and my family visited Capitola Beach for the first time, then we happened to walk by Rainbow City Limit. Since it was our first time here, we wanted to check out the souvenirs they had. The inside is really quaint and fashioned with many toys and tourist souvenirs. They also have a selection of Beatles merch which I thought was pretty cool! I ended up buying a Santa Cruz sticker sheet and a couple of postcards to mail to my relatives. The owner was really nice too. Definitely a cute place to stop by if you're in the area! Just a heads up that parking can be hard to find in the area. Paid street parking only and you have to move your car after 3 hours! read more

IMHO This is your typical Capitola tourist gift store selling rainbow colored wind-powered items; kites, windchimes, spinning things, plus tie-dyed sweatshirts, tee-shirts, kids toys, beach toys, and other souvenir gift items. I gravitate to anything that spins! The tie-dyed sweatshirts blaring "Capitola" caught my eye. They have only one size, a child's size XL. I tried one on and it fit well, not too tight and not too loose. I thought the price was fair as well; $29.95. Each sweatshirt had a different tie-dye pattern as one would expect. I wanted to see if I could find a different selection at other stores in the Esplanade. Many hours later after I couldn't stop thinking about the sweatshirt, I went back and bought the sweatshirt that was on display. Friendly service from the two different sales people. read more

I came here for the second time today. We were greeted as we entered and offered assistance. I was looking for a gift for a 1st birthday party. Luckily, I found something immediately. However, when I arrived at the register I was ignored for a personal conversation that the employee was having on the phone. So, I informed her that I would like to buy something. But, she held up her index finger to inform me to wait a minute. In hindsight I should have walked out, but purchased anyhow. I asked for gift wrap and it was done free of charge. I hate to cause extra waste, but I will be re-wrapping this... and posting a pic. I tried supporting my local business today. But, I may look to Childish or Amazon next time. read more

My husband took our 3 year old in to look at all the rainbow items for sale. Nothing caught his eye and the toys were overpriced. As they were leaving, the shop owner/employee made a rude comment "what you are not buying anything?" Really lady!? We are not obligated to buy something at every store we walk in too. read more

This is a toy and gifty store right off the Esplande in Capitola. Parking in this area is a critical and hard to find resource. There is street parking of course and if you are ever able to find a spot on the street go buy a lottery ticket as you are one lucky duck. The Esplande (the stretch of road facing the beach) also has public parking which in summer 40,000 people will be trying to get to. My personal recommendation is parking a little bit farther away-that surface lot behind the police station works very nicely-and walking it on in. This is a smaller to medium sized store jam packed with fun stuff. They have a lot of kites ranging in technological scope from something made in china with the cheapest possible plastic for a toddler to break opening up the package to fairly significant parafolis which can be used to loft small children surprisingly high into the air, which you should totally not do because everyone gets all excited and shouty then police come and no one ever lets you live it down. They also have a better then usual collection of beach toys-the kind you want to keep as opposed to the kind that break when anyone tries to play with them, a variety of toys for children and emotionally immature adults of all ages, beach chairs, beach balls, towels, other beach stuff, collectibles such as Beatles metal lunch boxes - the kind that have pictures of the Beatles on it, not the kind that the band actually ate lunch out of- and in general a whole lot of eclectic awesomeness. The pricing ranges from "Yeah that's just a couple of bucks or so" to "They want HOW much for that?" Something for every price range is what I'm saying. Just need something small that says "been to Capitola" ? They've got it. Need some fashionable indestructible beach gear or a small sturdy child sized chair to attach to the parafoil? They've got that as well. For the most part this is worth a browse if you need a gift, or otherwise just have a sense of whimsy. read more

Horrible customer service. My doctor does not want me wearing a face mask due to my medical condition. The same face mask order also protects me as a person with a medical attention. No accommodations were made as required by law and she refused service in a rude manner. I simply took my business elsewhere and had no issues with anyone else. It looks like medical discrimination is accepted here. read more

Holy Provincetown, batman! For those of you who don't know, Provincetown is a little town on the tip (yes, the TIP) of Cape Cod, where all the gays go to get some sun and sand. This place is on FIRE, if you get my drift. I had the pleasure of spending some quality time here a few years ago, and I loved it. I have the lucky break of being able to come to Capitola frequently. This also means that I get to go to the beach alot. For whatever reason, I always feel the need to drag as much stuff as possible onto the sand, and most of it is from here. If you're in need of beach toys or a chair, pop in here. It's TINY, but they have a ton of stuff, and it's not all tourist-trappy like the stores on the esplanade. On the day my son and I visited this store they actively had a mask mandate sign posted on their door. As soon as my son and I walked into the giftshop, we saw one lady paying for a handful of items at the cashier counter wearing no mask and a second lady was in store browsing shopping with no mask at all either. The cashier immediately yells to my son and I as we enter, "Masks Please!" The items I purchased WITH A MASK ON were okay quality. Their selection for sweat shirts and t-shirts were limited in sizes available in stock. The quality in coloring on the fabric of the T-Shirts purchased looked a bit dull and really faded after the first wash. The coloring of the garments I purchased were not as vibrant for my liking in what I would expect for a new clothing item, but supporting small businesses is vital especially as our economy recovers from COVID. The pricing was overall okay and not over priced for the subpar quality of the products I saw available. This is an okay gift shop in Capitola for lower quality, simple budget friendly souvenirs. Other than the TERRIBLE Customer Service Experience (This is why I only gave 1 star) where clearly I witnessed 2 patrons in the store given the "privilege" and given a "pass" by the cashier to NOT HAVE TO COMPLY WITH THEIR OWN MASK POLICY while in the store. This business gets absolutely a ZERO rating for it's customer service standards on not treating all customers equally based on my personal experience shopping here. The overall shopping experience in a nutshell here was subpar to maybe a okay rating. It's product quality, limited value in products available, and shortage of selection in products to purchase along with terrible customer service makes this gift shop have a lot of room for business practice improvements to better serve their customers in the future. read more

Cute knickknacks, darling souvenirs, fun toys, and even some beautiful gifts for the adults! I had never been here before today. The owner helped me track down a mermaid doll that will make a friend's daughter very happy, so I will make sure to spend my money here more often! We lost one of our baby boys so, I make an effort to always have double rainbow spinners at his gravesite. Babette special ordered a TON of them for me and give me a discount. What a cute little coastal town shop. The gal that runs this shop is so nice. You can tell she really enjoys her job and loves getting to know a little something about each person that enters her shop. I bought a cute "matching sweatshirt" with my sister in law here. This store is pure awesome. I love everything they have. Madison rocks she was super helpful helping my mom pick out a green shirt that said "Capitola".
