    Carroll's Carpets

1-Star Review I would not recommend Carroll's Carpets to…read moreanyone. The owner, Tracy, is unprofessional, argumentative, and frankly quite arrogant. I wish I had read the reviews before shopping here -- it seems I'm not the only one who's experienced poor service over the years. The initial carpet installation was okay, but soon after, I noticed squeaking when walking across certain areas. I later found out the subfloor wasn't nailed down before the new carpet was installed. When I called to discuss the issue, no one ever returned my calls. Fast forward a year -- we decided to install new LVP flooring (with a different company, because of Carroll's lack of communication). When removing the transition strips, we discovered the carpet hadn't even been installed all the way to the edge of the old flooring, leaving about a one-inch gap. I called Carroll's Carpets to see if they could come stretch the carpet, and that's when I encountered Tracy's unprofessionalism firsthand. Instead of listening or offering help, he immediately became defensive and argumentative, accusing me of "blaming" his installers -- even though I never placed blame, I just needed someone to fix the issue. Needless to say, Carroll's Carpets does not stand behind their work or value customer service. I've since found professional, trustworthy flooring contractors who I'll happily recommend instead.

I had torn them up in a few places, but overall, they showed 30yrs of wear and tear. I had thoughts of doing this work myself as well, but my wife reminded me that summer was coming, and I needed to be done with the project. It would probably an understatement if I said that I am picky, which is why I like to do my own remodeling and wanted to refinish the floors myself. So, we contracted with Doug and All About Hardwood. To be honest, I was a little nervous... but also willing to let a little bit go so I could be done. The short story... the job is done, and we could not be more pleased. They began by replacing oak boards where necessary and laced the new ones in in such a way that the repair is completely undetectable. Then they removed all shoe trim, sanded the entire oak floor, applied the stain that we requested and finished with a couple of coats of sealant or what I would call clear coats. The refinishing crew as led by Sam. The crew was very easy to talk to, answered all questions, arrived on time and did an all-around awesome job. The final task by All about Hardwood was to add new shoe molding. Honestly, this made me the most nervous as a crappy job here would make the whole kitchen look bad. I resigned myself to hoping that the job would be "good enough", and that I would putty where I had to and/or replace pieces if they were "that bad". The trim guy, Mike (I think was his name) was awesome. His trim work was awesome (sorry, I know I have repeated that word a few times in this review). I have done trim work part-time for over thirty years, and I am a very tough judge when it comes to fit, miters, etc. To be honest, red flags went up when Mike told me that he never "copes" his miter cuts. This scared me. But the finished miters speak for themselves... no gaps!! I asked Mike how he got them so tight, and he commented that he just adds or subtracts and degree or two when he has to. Color me impressed!! The only downside to the whole job, is that Mike did not have putty with him that matches the shoe molding. He offered to come back, but I told him I would finish it myself. I bring this up only because his trim job was so good, i.e. the miters in the corners are so tight, that no putty is necessary. All that is left for me to do is putty his nail holes (whole job will take less than 15 minutes). As an aside.... I have read several negative reviews on here that do not appear to reflect the same company that I worked with on this project. Hmmm...??? Obviously, I cannot speak for anyone else or cannot speak about anyone else's project other than my own. I can only say that I am completely happy with the results at our house and would highly recommend this crew and company to anybody that will listen to me.

Doug the owner is a nice guy. I had him do my previous home and things went well so I asked him…read moreback to do a new home we purchased. Unfortunately things didn't go nearly as well. We had existing wood floors but we wanted hardwood added to our dining room, hallway from garage, and a half bath. since we were adding these in we had the entire floor resurfaced and stained. Two big issues and neither addressed once they were done. I called Doug, emailed he and his office. sent images of the two issues. I even text him but I couldn't get them back out here. First issue was in the dining room where the hand sanding near the wall and the rest of the floor were not matched so when they stained it, I have about 12" out from the wall all the way down that doesn't match. I know this requires resending everything to do over again but they need to stick to their quality of work and the last message I got was there's no easy fix, what do I want to do about it? I stated I want it fixed and never got a response. The second issue is boards buckling in my living room. This was existing hardwood when the home was built. I took pictures and sent them to Doug amd all he said is that's from water damage. I cut holes in my ceiling below and there was no water. I had a plumber out do a scan and there's no water leaking. I had an HVAC person out to look for condensation and nothing found. I cut holes walls to look for water and none found. I had contractors out and the consensus is the time the exposed the hardwood sanding it down absorbed moisture and the stain on top trapped it in. Have still never heard from Doug. Spent nearly $20,000 with him and the guy got his cash and was done. If all goes well, the team was pretty good. but if it doesn't, plan to live with the result or pay someone else to fix it later.

It has a tongue and groove system. They were supposed to be at my home December 9, 2019 and complete the install within 3 days. Here it is a month later, and my family is living out of the dining room and furniture stacked up, all throughout the holiday season. Scott has sent a sub, Chris, to install flooring in my kitchen, half bath, living room and foyer. Chris always brings another guy that obviously has never installed flooring before. They arrive late, or not at all. Sometimes they come, work a couple hours, and leave for the day. Sometimes Chris leaves his trainee to complete the install. Chris, the lead, has purposely cut the tongue and grooves off boards because he didn't want to take the time to cut difficult cuts. This is a floating floor. It's not glued down or nailed down, so without the T&Gs, it's literally just sitting on top of the sub floor. So, when you step on it, it sinks in, causing breakage to the T&G to the rest of the board. Then that breaks the next board's T&G, thus continuing on and on. I am paying over $6 a board to have this installed. That's just labor, and yet, apparently $6 a board isn't enough to spend the 5 minutes precision cutting the boards to fit around door jams, corners etc. He's now been out here 3 times after the initial install to fix his issues. Not mistakes, mind you, because he knows he's installed broken boards, and just dusts off the broken pieces and continues on. He lies constantly. One if his favorite lies is "Oh, I'm heading to Lumber Liquidators right now to ..." and then doesn't. He just uses it as an excuse to leave without finishing the job. Then yesterday, he came out, I saw him trying to cover up a cut board around the door jam. He said it just wasn't possible to fit it around the door without cutting the T&G. I said, "I will go cut it and you can install it". So, I went out to my garage and cut the board, brought it in, and saw his assistant walking out with their tools. He literally left with my subfloor exposed, boxes in the middle of the floor, broken boards all around my garage and living space, and didn't even tell me. I have a 4 year old child at home with me at the time. I guess I hurt his fweeelings because I was able to cut the board with precision. So, he literally left at 3pm. Then after he left, I saw there were more broken pieces he reinstalled or just covered up (most likely). I texted him "I guess this means you're done for the day?" His response.. "Sure am". This is just a small percentage of the problems. We've had to rip up all of his transitions. His response when he doesn't cut something straight "you can buy this putty and install it in the cracks"...You can not make this stuff up. This is a professional floor installer? Telling his customer that they can go and buy putty to cover up his mistakes.

I haven't been able to have baseboards installed back into my home for over a year due to this company's negligence. The last time they came out to "repair" their damage, they caused more damage. They said I would have new wood delivered so they could come fix it... Again... But it has not been delivered and I've not heard anything back from the owner. Entire nails showing that aren't covered by the baseboards and new gaps in between the wood that went there before they came to repair it, along with them installing a piece of wood after chipping the corner off of it (in the middle of my floor) and then putting puddy over the missing corner thinking no one would notice is NOT professional work. They also cut my T-mold different on adjoining rooms. One was under the door frame and the other was inside of the door frame. I want my money back. I will share pictures with anyone that requests them as well. This company is terrible.
