After weeks of poor communication and multiple follow-ups on my part, the crew finally showed up on September 17th with less than an hour's notice. The owner, Nick, called me irate about our "newly installed lawn" -- even though he knew about it, had been on the property on August 27th, and we had already discussed sprinkler shutoffs in advance. His tone was so aggressive that I felt threatened and uncomfortable speaking with him, and from that point forward I directed him to communicate with my husband instead. The crew left, then later returned to begin installation. The foreman admitted that the wet ground was actually caused by a neighbor's sprinklers, not ours, and was segregated to a small portion of the yard. Despite assurances that excess dirt would be raked out along the fence line and moved to low spots throughout the yard (and any remaining dirt to be placed along the side of the house), they left a truckload of dirt in the middle of our backyard and did not rake any dirt out along the fence line. On top of that, the double gates were installed backwards after having in depth conversations about how to install the gates and which side on the double gate would be the main door. The excessive conversations happened mid-install when we were told that if the double gate is installed on the side of the house we originally requested, it would be installed 8 to 12 inches off the ground (obviously unacceptable to all parties). When I raised concerns, the company agreed to fix the gates but ignored the issue with the dirt. Instead, they demanded the remainder of the payment and even came to my front door during the workday to collect, despite the job being unfinished and not as agreed. In the end, I had to rent equipment and spend my own time moving the dirt myself as well as contracting a lawn care specialist to replant the grass that was mutilated from the large pile of dirt left in the center of our yard. This was an unprofessional and disappointing experience. I have attempted to speak with DeFazio Company regarding these issues, but they have continued to demand payment without the willingness to work towards a resolution. I expect my final balance to be adjusted to reflect the work I had to do myself, along with a formal acknowledgment of their mishandling of the project. If this occurs, I will update my review to acknowledge this.

This year when they came out to open the system in early May, I told the tech that I think they had missed a sprinkler head. he said there wasn't one there. I said yes there was, but he said again there wasn't. he left without checking. so about 2 weeks later we noticed standing water. we had originally thought the cable company had broken a line so we called them out to fix it, but as we all stood there we found that it was a head that was not popping up. When Husney comes out, it is their job to make sure all heads are popping up and working properly. so I called Gayle (I believe she is the owner) and told them they need to come out and complete the job. a different tech came out and not only checked the head in question but he kicked the ground in another area and up popped another head they had missed. so when they presented me with the bill I refused to pay saying they should have completed the job earlier in May....especially since I had told them there was a head there. About a month later, I got a refund for my advance payment for shutdown service. when I called (twice) about it Gayle had one of her office personnel return the call and tell me they cancelled the contract because I refused to pay the bill. Not only is this poor customer service to a long standing, good paying customer, but to have someone else call back instead of Gayle herself shows the unprofessionalism in their organization. I would not recommend this company to anyone! If I could have given them a zero score, I would have !

I had three major considerations: I wanted something very easy to maintain; I wanted native plants and flowers that would attract butterflies; and I wanted it to be enjoyable for all the wild critters who live in our yard. Marc is great - I love his vision, enthusiasm, and wealth of knowledge and experience in the field. He walked the property with me and pointed out what was native and what was invasive (I have very little horticultural knowledge), and how he thought different designs could improve the space in this way or that, depending on how we wanted to use it. He gave a bunch of options and ideas, and listened to what I wanted. It felt very collaborative, which was nice. And he is great at explaining things you don't quite understand. Marc and Matt and Colin, and several more workers whose names I didn't catch, came out to do the job on time on the assigned day, well-prepared. The weather was off-and-on rain, which didn't remotely slow down the crew. They were all working hard all day - you'll see from the photos there was a lot to do. In addition to a full yard cleanup which in itself was a beast of a job, they redesigned/redefined several beds, planted a perfect pollinator garden in the back that I have been wanting there for years, trimmed/pruned trees, shaped hedges, reshaped the backyard, mulched everything, and planted three beautiful young sweet bay magnolias out front. It was a big job and took two days. The crews were great - polite and hardworking, with no complaints even when they were getting soaked. Marc came by each day to meet with me, explain what was being done, and get my input. He also met with and worked with his crew, mapped out where everything was going. He was out in the pouring rain with his crew, unloading trees from the truck and doing whatever was needed. They were an impressive team. I am beyond thrilled with the results of all the hard work they did. And so excited to sit outside this summer enjoying it all. Thank you, Native. I look forward to our ongoing business relationship and future, further collaborations.

On 2 occasions Mike made appointments with us and did not show and did not reach out (I totally understand that unexpected things happen, but you have to let the customer know). On the first planned rescheduled visit he came several hours later than he had indicated and by then we had guests over that I had to completely ignore. Mike was tired (it was late afternoon on a Saturday) and asked to come back a month later to address some issues that needed to be fixed and in the meantime he had me order parts (about $100) which I did for the follow up which was supposed to happen last weekend. I texted a day or so before the appointment to confirm (got nothing back), then reached out early on the day of the scheduled appointment and he texted that he would not het there in the morning as planned, but would again come in the afternoon, then a couple hours later texted that he needed to reschedule (again very frustrating since I had rearranged my day (which also happened to be my birthday to accommodate). He never called in follow-up and his voicemail was completely full and not taking messages. Then 2 days later I again called and he immediately texted that he would call me. I never got a call back! So now I have to move on. I get it that life can sometimes be complicated, but a little respect and communication goes a long way. I guess I should be glad it's not my physician or my father, and just a sprinkler guy who has ghosted me, sitting with $100 of unused parts he had me get. A couple of points in response to Mike (the owners) reply to my review. 1) I ended your phone call this morning after you started to scream and called me a "Liar" 2) I have provided lots of availability for us to get today; as I indicated to you when you asked if Saturdays were okay (and we agreed upon July 11), I had/have availability almost every Monday and alternating Wednesdays 3) The system I have in place has been working fine for the past decade, and yes does have some issues now that I was hoping you would help with...presumably this is the type of repair service you are skilled at. I would have gladly walked away from proceeding if you had indicated any hesitancy or inability to achieve remedy of the issues. However, you did not do this, and instead had me purchase replacement parts in preparation to your appointment this past weekend (which you cancelled midday. 4) The bottom line is, at least with me, you were impossible to reach (through either your intent or lack of organization). I work intimately with over a hundred people every week as part of my job for the past 30 years. And while it is not always possible to meet everyone's expectations perfectly, for the most part, an open dialogue and truthful follow-through goes along way. It is unfortunate that you didn't always "mean what you say" nor "do what you say".
