Discovered this by getting on the wrong bus and needing a location to set for my rideshare. I picked this one based on where it was from me on maps and the name. Nice, helpful staff. Good selection for the space. Pretty fast, and food was good.

Talk about your neighborhood sandwich shop! I had just grabbed some snacks from Magnolia Mini Mart https://www.yelp.com/biz/magnolia-mini-mart-oakland?hrid=GszifKbPeE2QJ5wNUX_uMA&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) and was originally heading over to Twins Halal https://www.yelp.com/biz/twins-halal-house-and-bakery-oakland?hrid=6OZo9mRqjeVa0tB1FDxUtg&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) when at the corner of 26th and Magnolia I was shocked to see a sandwich shop. I love a good sammich, so figured I'd stop in. I immediately got vibes from Prospect Park Sandwiches https://www.yelp.com/biz/prospect-park-sandwiches-oakland?hrid=KNklnB9KOVsS8Wp2tzWFZg&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) - hole in the wall, locals only spot run by a Korean family, super friendly, offering breakfast, sandwiches, and teriyaki plates. Seriously, this is the West Oakland version of Prospect Park. You enter into what used to be the dining room - a fridge case to your left, the coffee station and what used to have a table to the right, and in front the menu, register, and kitchen. The nice man taking orders greeted me warmly and asked if I wanted to see a paper menu, but there is a huge menu above the register. The menu offers a mix of breakfast and lunch items. Breakfast including specials (combos), omelettes, sandwiches, and even side orders. The lunch option lists deli sandwiches, burgers, cheesesteaks, chicken teriyaki, and salads. While I love a good cheesesteak and chicken teriyaki sandwich, as this was my first time, I figured I'd get something classic. Went with the Turkey & Ham, on a sweet roll, with the veggies and mayo. It was a solid sandwich! What I didn't know is I could have gotten a side of fries, and based on the pictures, they look to be perfectly golden steak fries, which are the best kind of fry. That said, I did get a free bag of goldfish and some hershey kisses, which was a really nice treat. I wouldn't say this is worth going out of the way for just yet, but if you're in the neighborhood, this is a must visit spot. And as I am trying to frequent Magnolia Mini Mart more often, I think this will become my go to follow up spot (though do need to support Twins as well).

Just solid, can't go wrong at Railroad. It's a little small hole in the wall with VERY limited seating both indoors and outdoors. As soon as you walk in, it reminds you of eating in the Deep South. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if you happen to be in the area stop on by. The food is amazing! Love the burgers, love the club sandwich, love the breakfast sandwiches etc. They also have the crispiest steak fries! Not too mention, they always give you a piece of candy & fruit w/ your meal. Please note this spot is only open for breakfast and lunch, M-F and is NOT wheelchair accessible.

An extremely satisfying, no-frills, unpretentious sandwich shop. Admittedly, the location isn't the best or most easily accessible. But I literally have no complaints about the quality of their sandwiches. Delicious stuff.

Intersection of 36th & Magnolia Pre crossing guard era Maybe it was even for horse riders to stop?

Casual breakfast and lunch place that serves up the basics. Order the spaghetti, it's enough for two meals. Friendly folks and easy parking. Legit french toast or omelets. They are literally on a really old railroad track that had a four way stop back in the day. Sign is about to fall. It looks like from the 1930's?

I can't believe I didn't know about this place till the other day. I love supporting local businesses. Especially ones who have been around for a long time. The spot has a dated charm that I miss. There's not a lot of places like this left in the town and it makes me sad. On to the food. The sandwich was good, i was pleased with the ingredients and I didn't get a crazy hangover after eating the sandwich (I just ate too much food). They have a lot of good options for sandwiches. I decided on getting the turkey sub with added bacon. They also give you some candy treats with your order! They really took me back with their selection of candies. The clerk and staff are friendly, as are the patrons attending this spot. I hope this place is here for years to come. We need to continue to support places like this! I'll definately be back *edited some info

Stopped here on a Monday morning to grab my husband some breakfast and this place was the perfect start to my week. Not only, is the food delicious with vegetarian options, the guy working the counter is always super nice. I got the grit special with a veggie patty and hubby got a breakfast burrito with turkey sausage. If you don't know anything about trying to find a quick non pork breakfast spot then let me tell you the struggle is REAL! Well look no further, if you have a second and it's not out the way then I suggest you stop by and grab a bite. Plenty of turkey options and they make delicious grits. Haven't stopped by for lunch yet but I'm sure they probably wouldn't disappoint!!

Doesn't look like much when you pull up, definitely a hole in the wall. But one of the best sandwiches we've ever had. My husband and I split a Turkey club and wished we would have gotten our own. Also, a nice surprise of a little bag of Swedish Fish (my favorite) and a Cutie (fruit). They also have breakfast too, we may have to swing by on our way out of town. The people working there were very nice and accommodating. Don't let the neighbor discourage you from going. Would definitely go again and recommend it to my friends.

I absolutely love this little hole in the wall deli. The food is fresh and everything in the menu is delicious. The service is always friendly and I love the complimentary mandarin oranges that come with a gourmet sandwich. It's a little small inside, so order for pickup if you can. If you can't, don't worry, service is quick.

The rolls (I got the Dutch Crunch, sourdough roll, and the soft roll) were not that great and --like I said-- maybe it's the same vendors everyone uses in the east bay. For the cost, I'm not too enthused to try the other options. Every time I passed by their spot, it's busy, so I figured I'd try it. It's just not for me, but people seem to like it. ‍

However, an acquaintance raved about it, so we had to try. Once inside, you sense the warm, family-run feel, and regulars and staff know each other. Ok, I'll be honest -- I went like three times in two weeos, but have only tried one sandwich. Because it's so dang amazing. The roast lamb sandwich. My girlfriend agrees, and that's also the only thing she gets. It's borderline life-changing. We like it with: dutch crunch, pepperjack, lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayo, and a bit of Dijon. I also tried their fantastic tiramisu, one of the best I've had. They carry delicious chips; I've enjoyed the pesto and truffle flavors. They also carry the delicious, local Alameda Soda Co sodas. Just an awesome way to enjoy delicious food and support local businesses. Other notes: For two people, a large should be fine! They wrap it as two sandwiches. Works perfectly for me and my gf, with chips and drinks. The have a dining area at both the front and back of the shop. Lines can form, but nothing extreme. Absolutely worth it. Easily one of the best deli sandwiches I've had, especially from an independently owned spot. The place itself has a great old-school vibe. Lots of photos on the walls and even some Raiders memorabilia, which gives it a real local feel. When I got there, there were a few people ahead of me, so I waited about 10-15 minutes, but it was worth it. You can tell they're making everything fresh. There were about 4-5 people working behind the counter, and even though they were busy, they were still friendly, engaging, and interacting with customers, which I liked. The lady at the register was also very nice and welcoming. They've got a wide variety of sandwiches to choose from. I've tried a few over the years, but next time I might go for something like the Chicago-style meatball sandwich. If you're in Alameda on Webster Street and want a fresh, high-quality sandwich, this is the spot. Perfect for grabbing something to go and heading over to the park or the beach on a nice day. Two thumbs up from me.

They have a modest but solid selection of Italian deli meats (Serrano ham, prosciutto, pancetta, etc), pasta, olive oil, vinegars, and a couple specialty jams (calabrian chile orange, etc) - basically all you'd need for a gourmet charcuterie board meal or snack. Last time I was here, picked ip a bottle of nicely aged balsamic vinegar from Italy, which has lasted me for a couple years. Today, decided to try one of their specialty Italian sandwiches with a shot of expresso on the side... and Mama Mia was the sandwich absolutely amazing! I highly recommend the Jamon Serrano & Manchego sandwich ($14.50). It comes with shaved ribbons of serrano ham, 1/5 inch thick slice of aged manchego cheese, a creamy spread of chevre goat cheese, chopped/marinated artichokes and arugula greens on a crusty/crunchy baguette (between half to a full foot long). I practically finished this within 10 minutes - it was so good! The expresso shot ($3.25) was also a good pairing for me. Loved the aroma, made from nicely dark roasted beans. The waitress looked comfortable wearing her pajamas and the cook in his shorts and t-shirt.... Odd, but whatever. Some standard tables and chairs and a cooler in the dining area for drinks. Handy, I suppose. Or, maybe that was the only outlet available? Who knows? Added character! Haha I'll share some positive notes: The French fries were great! Perfectly crisp outside and tender in! We ordered the pulled pork fries as an appetizer. It was okay. The pork tasted a little off, but not quite sure why. My daughter's cheeseburger was fine. My friends sandwich, BLT was also fine. Things went south from here. My sandwich was the brisket and the waitress said it was her favorite. Well... everybody has different tastes I guess because I felt like it was gross. The meat tasted old and it was absolutely the messiest sandwich in the Kingdom of Messy Sandwiches. I'm OK, in general, with messy sandwiches, but in this case it was extreme. I needed a bib and wet wipes in abundance. It came with a salad, which would have been great, except they absolutely DROWNED it in an apple cider vinegar dressing. The thing is, the dressing had a wonderful flavor, and it would have been quite lovely had it not been so cloying and gooped on so massively. It was literally inedible. So after three bites of the sandwich and one bite of the salad, I decided to send it back. The whole plate was just nasty. And this is where my rating went from a 3 or 4 stars to a two. First the waitress was extremely confused. Okaaay.... So she went to talk to the cook who then came out to argue with me. I was trying hard not to be rude. I just wanted to let them know that I didn't want the sandwich and they needed to take it back. I told him that I didn't like it. He proceeds to tell me that it is everyone's favorite, their most popular sandwich. That all of their sandwiches are messy. ( The BLT and the hamburger were not. They were normal) so I tell them that despite other people liking it apparently I did not. I explained how there was too much salad dressing and that the meat tasted old to me. They acted like they had no idea what to do with this feedback. I said please just take this plate away from our table. I was not paying the bill so I do not know for sure if they charged for it or not. But yuck. Who argues with a customer? Especially when it's about taste and perceived quality, as we all have different taste buds that's why there's a menu of different options available at restaurants! I worked in restaurants for many years of my life. I hate sending things back and I don't do it unless it is really bad or really not what I ordered. It's very uncomfortable to be confrontational at all with anyone at any time, but the reality is when we are paying for something we want it to be good and if it is not good we need to be able to speak up about it and hold them accountable to an inferior quality product. They made that very difficult.

It's a cute delicatessen/restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Immediately the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The woman at the register was very nice and asked if we had any questions. My mom and I shared a pastrami sandwich, Brussels sprouts, fries, and slaw. It was reasonably priced for the Bay Area. When they brought the food to the table I was shocked. Everything looked amazing and very appetizing, and the portions were much bigger than expected. Before she brought the sandwich over, she asked if we were sharing it and was so nice to split it into 2 plates for us. That was very kind for her to do. Let's start with the French fries. Omg they were perfectly crisp but still fluffy on the inside. They had so much flavor probably because of the beef tallow and had just the right amount of salt on them. There was a side of mayonnaise with the fries, and it tasted homemade. I meant to ask them if it was. It was very good lol I couldn't get enough. The poppyseed slaw was very refreshing and it was tangy and sweet. We loved that the cabbage remained crispy and it was great for a warm day. The fried Brussels sprouts were full of flavor. They were a nice balance of sweet and salty. I loved the bacon on them. The hot pastrami sandwich definitely satisfied my pastrami craving! There was just the right ratio of meat-cheese-sauerkraut-mustard-dressing. The bread tasted freshly baked as well. It was full of flavor. And the side salad that came with the sandwich was excellent. We loved the tanginess of the dressing. We were shocked that there wasn't more people inside, but also for 2pm on a Monday, it probably was just an off hour. We had so many leftovers as we both don't eat very much, but lol as soon as I got home I started eating some more of the slaw and salad. Can't wait to eat the rest for lunch tomorrow. We are already planning on coming back to try the meatballs next time and definitely trying their Indian cuisine! I'll have to bring my husband here next. Thank you guys for an amazing lunch!
