Food: got the "Hood" sandwich; made a few changes they were happy to accommodate. I ate both halves, I usually eat 1/2 in 2 sittings. It was *SO* good. Service: the two people working behind the counter were super friendly, welcoming & were smiling the entire time I was there. I noticed costumers stopped to converse with them; from what I could discern, none of them were first time customers like me - they spoke like they knew about each other from many visits. Ambiance: Simple entryway, clean, tidy & unassuming yet warm/welcoming interior. There's a fruit counter, candy counter & pastry counter in addition to the hand written menu on the wall (nice, old school touch). There are wallet sized student photos posted along the back counter, makes me think the kids from Oakland Tech like this place & the people who run it, too. Will be back for sure. Love this place. It's very nostalgic sandwich spot for me because I used to come here as a high schooler and still come here after 14 years. Proportions are great and they customize your order to your needs. They also sell snacks and drinks. Primavera rocks!! Granted, I've only dropped by once but this definitely won't be the last time I'm here. It's a very unassuming shop across from Oakland Tech and one of the Kaiser buildings, next to a pet shop, and kind of colorful inside. Primavera is a truly mom & pop sandwich shop, offering different kinds of sandwiches, breakfast foods, and salads, along with various coffee and tea offerings, milk teas and fruit teas, and other sweet drinks. They also have a ton of candy and canned/bottled drinks available for sale (probably given their proximity to the high school). After dropping off our ballots across the street, we stopped by to grab some sandwiches. My bf got a Chicken Italiano sandwich, and I got a half turkey avocado sandwich/half Chinese chicken sandwich combo with a mango green tea with mango star jelly. Needless to say, my lunch was delicious, healthy, and filling, and my partner enjoyed his meal. Everything is so reasonably priced as well- our meals plus drink were about $22, including the tip! I'd return to try the other drinks as well and other sandwich flavors. I'll continue to drop by here when I'm in the area or in a mood for a sandwich or salad... that was TASTY. This my first time eating at Primavera. I always drove by it and today, I decided to try it out. I had the hot pastrami sandwich on a toasted roll. It included tomatoes, lettuce, onions, mayo and mustard. Their Pastrami sandwich had a good balance of condiments, meat and bread ratio. Good stuff!!! It's a small mom and pop sandwich shop so nothing fancy but good food. Their sandwich are affordable. FYI, They only have street parking so you might have to walk. Come check them out. read more

You CANNOT sleep on this place! Yes, the Oakland Tech kids raid this spot several times a day, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy it too. Not sure how many times that I've passed this place by without even knowing, but I'm so glad that I discovered them through Yelp! Where else can you get a full meal for $6 or less in this area?! Think.... keep thinking... okay, MAYBE fast food, but even that is cutting it close! When I read that this spot makes some bomb ass sammies for around $5-$6 a pop, I just had to go and see for myself. Parking can be hard in a dual sense; finding it if their little parking lot is full, and trying to squeeze into those tiny little spots. I witnessed a lady scrape her car against another car while trying to fit into a spot on my first visit there! It was hard to watch, but I'm just happy that it wasn't my car (no offense). But once you can get passed the parking, you'll be in for a real treat! Speaking of treats... there are tons and TONS of them! Don't come in here with a sweet tooth because you'll leave here with all kinds of candy and junk food! Chocolate, cookies, chips, candy... they even have cup of noodles! Yaaasss! It's a high school student's DREAM! You can go cray in here buying up all kinds of junk food! Aside from the junk food, they offer salads, sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, and even boba tea drinks and smoothies! It's amazing, isn't it?! I ended up ordering a half sandwich and half salad combo with a turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich and a Chinese chicken salad for $6. The sandwich was good and the ingredients tasted fresh. It wasn't the best sammy that I've ever had, but it was good for the price. Now that Chinese chicken salad?! That thang was BOMB! They didn't even really put too much in the salad itself, but the dressing and the flavors just got me. It was delicious! I almost wished that I had gotten a full salad instead of just a half. The family who operates this business is very kind and hard working! They are also super fast and prepared my meal in lightening speed. I came around 11:15ish and the store was pretty empty. I would advise that you come here before noon or after 1:30/2:00ish unless you wanna be stuck waiting in line with the high school crowd. There is only one table for seating inside and one outside, so your best bet is to get it to go! All in all, this was such a great find and I'm so happy to add them to my lunch routine! Made a quick trip to Blick today and got hungry, so decided to something new. I came here based off of the reviews and was not disappointed. My boyfriend for the chicken parm and I got the original breakfast on a croissant. Waited only 5 minutes, and the food was delicious. I usually get different things every time I go, but my partner, who has been going to Primavera since he was a high schooler at Oakland Tech (more than 10 years ago!) almost always gets the "Whole 9 Yards" -- egg, cheese, bacon, sausage on a toasted roll. Dropped by here for a quick sandwich based on the positive reviews. Workers are all very nice. I ordered a sweet iced green tea and a turkey avocado sandwich on wheat. The tea was great. Very flavorful jasmine green tea at a reasonable price. The sandwich, though fresh and tasty, was very lacking on the meat side. I was ok with it as I'm trying to eat more veggies these days. Sandwich was served with the typical mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and pickles. The avocado was nice and ripe and the veggies were fresh. Turkey was typical packaged lunch meat, probably 2 slices for the whole sandwich. Overall, for the price paid, I was happy with it. Wow, $3.95 for a cold sandwich? $4.50 for hot? Got a hot pastrami with swiss on a soft roll. Nothing fancy. Nice amount of freshly sliced meat (see pic). Friendly staff. I liked that they heated the meat in a broiler / toaster thing and not the microwave that was next to the sandwhich making station. Missed their special sandwich items with a Reuben available. I try my best to avoid processed meats and I don't eat pork so my best option was to add tomato to it. Perfect every time! They add a little salt and pepper to taste. Which is amazing because some places will give you a bland breakfast sandwich hoping that you get flavor from your choice of meat. There's a variety of fresh fruit, yogurts, salads, smoothies, lunch sandwiches where you can get a bag of chips, soda or juice. Not to mention donuts and candy, for those wanting something a little more sweeter. The building is really small and you can easily drive past it if you are not careful. Overall I haven't found another breakfast sandwich place close by that is open early enough where I won't be late for work, tasty, affordable and fast. Good prices & average food. I can tell this place caters to high school students because of the candy and junk! I got a smoothie and egg bagel for 6 bucks. Which is really good. Now I graduated from the high school across the street 2 years ago. For my first two years there I was a little skeptical about this place I was like hmmm is it really that good, it gets too packed, etc. Until one day after school a friend offered to buy me a sandwich from there he was really cool with the owner, Miguel. So I went and he got me the Whole 9 Yards without egg cause I'm allergic. Oh god it was to die for ! I was hooked. After this I went to this place regularly. I tried not to go during lunch time because of how packed it would get with students. I started trying new things getting a strawberry smoothie, a blended iced mocha, a blended iced coffee, a brownie with ice cream and everything was always amazing. Now the staff is wonderful! They're the sweetest people ever! By my junior year of high school I had to walk a few blocks to get to one of my classes so I stopped here daily and Miguel got to know me. Everyday they expected a call from me with my order, Miguel even learned it by memory as soon as he heard my voice on the phone he would just say my order to me. Whenever I walked in he would greet me with "Hey Amiga!" He would ask me how was school and crack jokes with me. If I came in during lunch rush hour he would see me and immediately take my order before others I can't lie it was a good perk being friends with him but I wasn't the only one many students had a good relationship with him and it was better to keep it that way or else you'd be waiting for your lunch the whole 40 minutes! But anyways now that I've graduated and I live like 30 minutes away I miss it so much. This is a good place for a quick bite and it's not expensive ! They have a menu fit for all tastes ! And if you have a sweet tooth I promise their selection of sweets will amaze you. I went to Oakland Tech during last summer to only attend summer school over there. I am constantly reminded by my peers (I'm an O-High student, sorry!) that Tech has off-campus lunch. I went off-campus to browse around the nearest restaurants that were available so I wouldn't have to walk too far away from the school. I saw a Burger King joint right before me, and a Subway. I then noticed other kids around me who had sandwiches in their hands. If they had a sandwich, I would immediately assume it would be Subway because it's RIGHT. THERE. But apparently, the sandwiches did not have the iconic Subway paper wrapping. I soon later discovered that these kids bought the sandwiches from Primavera, a little joint that tries to serve breakfast, lunch, and typical liquor store items. I stepped in and was amazed. They buy their foods/beverages from Costco, but try to make it feel homey. All the Tech kids are regulars, of course. So the guy in the front of the store knows exactly what they want, and the lady in the back of the store is making sandwiches or brewing coffee. I ordered a Tuna Melt (x2), Regular Tuna sandwich, and the Chicken Parmesan sandwich alongside a simple Milk Tea with Boba (x4), and Garden Salsa Sun Chips (x3). The tuna melt was amazing, and it was complimented by a drizzle of honey mustard. The regular tuna sandwich was alright, although I didn't ask for onions but the lady placed it onto my sandwich anyways. But I highly suggest to NOT buy the chicken Parmesan sandwich. It is NOT worth! You may assume that they would bring out a chicken breast cutlet that was covered in breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese, but it turns out that it's just a slice of chicken breast (the sandwich slices kind) covered in bitter tomato sauce with something that doesn't even look like Parmesan cheese. Do not be deceived. Order a different kind of sandwich. But otherwise, they make their hot and ready sandwiches to order. Their Milk Tea with Boba was alright, but the lady puts too much ice so be aware, or your milk tea will be extremely watery. Oh, I also forgot to mention that the guy in the front "sort-of" deceives newcomers to the little joint. Apparently, my newly-made friend (who is a real deal Tech student) told me that they do not charge tax with their food. I went in, and bought what I wanted to eat/drink but he CHARGED me every single time I stepped in. If they apparently don't charge tax, then why did he had to charge me? Don't let the guy at the front get a bit of extra money out of your buck. It's just unfair to do that to a brand new customer. I didn't like the guy in the front of the store, but I enjoyed the lady in the back for her hardwork and dedication when it comes to doing a bunch of sandwich orders. She always greet me with a smile, and a "honey, what would you like?" when I used to walk in. +1 extra star because her smile saved me. (And she knew I wanted milk tea. :D) read more
