Had to get the famous breakfast burrito (bacon, would have gotten chorizo but I had a feeling it'd be too greasy). The cheese, potato bits, egg, and bacon are all cut up into a homogenous mass before put inside a soft tortilla. Me personally, I like my burrito innards heterogenous so I can target a bite here and there. The side salsa was not too hot but gave it the flavor it really needed. Overall, a satisfying burrito but for $16, I'd definitely recommend friends in the East Bay try Mezzo's breakfast burritos.

I am on the hunt for MY perfect breakfast burrito. I just moved to Oakland about 6 months ago, and I had read an article that put Kelly's on a list of great ones. I work around the corner, so I figured I guess I better try it out. The customer service is lackluster. I've been to many places, where Spanish is their first language, but their customer service is still top notch. And, here. They're just they're to serve the food. And I get that. But, I also believe that if they kicked up that customer service, this place would be more memorable outside of a random HD. And obviously, it's outside of an HD, so depending on the day, parking can be wild. People can be wild. But it was fairly quiet on this Saturday mid morning. It took about 10 minutes, and thankfully it was a beautiful day. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon, and it was tasty. And I'm going to admit this to you right now, I am what I like to call a pansy when it comes to spice. Whenever my friends tell me "it's not that spicy" I tend to roll my eyes at them. This burrito was a little too spicy for me, and I could have used some ketchup (yes ketchup, it's a breakfast burrito) to cool my mouth down. Was the burrito good? Yes. Was it huge? Yes. Would i eat it again? With ketchup or sour cream? Yes. Is it my perfect breakfast burrito? Sadly, no. My hunt continues.

We got a super al pastor burrito that had no avocado or sour cream, and a breakfast burrito that was wrapped so poorly, that one entire side was missing the tortilla (how does that even happen??). See attached photo. When we showed the manager what the breakfast burrito looked like, he apologized and offered to remake both burritos and provide us with two drinks on the house. My al pastor burrito was ok, there was an unusual subtle banana flavor in the burrito that was off putting. The remade breakfast burrito was far better. The crunch of the bacon added a nice texture to the burrito. It was hearty enough to have for two meals.

BIG chorizo breakfast burrito. Best thing on menu. Well balanced.

Food: 5/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Vibe: - TAKEOUT ONLY - fast and efficient service - literally in front of Home Depot - Mexican people go here Food: - Best breakfast burritos in the east bay???? Maybe tbh. Highly recommend (6/5). I prefer mine with chorizo, but they offer bacon, ham, and sausage too! - salsa offered is fire (like spicy and good) - chicken torta (4/5) - Food is FILLING

Who would have guessed that this unassuming shack next to Home Depot would have the best breakfast burrito in Oakland? What a hidden gem! What makes the Bacon Breakfast Burrito so good? The eggs, bacon, cheese, and hashbrowns are all well-incorporated leading to the perfect balanced bite. The bacon is crispy, and I'm a big fan of the hashbrowns versus home fries / potato chunks. It's also a great value at $10 and should satiate the hungriest of appetites. The Carne Asada Super Burrito is solid, with good flavor in the steak, but there's definitely better in Oakland. The salsa, while a good complement, is pretty spicy, so I would recommend getting it on the side. Finally, they don't have a phone number to call orders in, so be prepared to wait at least 10 minutes, though they do have some grab-and-go items. Definitely worth the wait though! Looking forward to trying the Breakfast Quesadilla and Torta next.

For something already made when I got there, the bacon breakfast burrito was really superb! It had hash browns, egg, cheese, and bacon -- simplicity at its finest. I've been craving LA style breakfast burritos, and I'm so happy to have finally found one...even if it's at a Home Depot! (My only complaint is that the salsa is awful and tastes tinny. This burrito deserves a better salsa!)

Chili fries!!!! Found this place a few years back. Always loved the breakfast burritos... It was a while since I've come back, decided to try the chili fries, I was not disappointed.

The Breakfast snacker with sausage is my current obsession here - I had one just now and I had to leave a review on it. It's that good. Between the gooey cheese, saltiness of the sausage, and fluffiness of the egg and muffin - it's the perfect breakfast sando. Forsure better than McDonalds. Their breakfast burritos good too; kinda pricey for a burrito, but it might be the best in our area so that's ok with me. Tortas confirmed good as well. Also love that everything's made so quickly and that they don't skimp on sauce when you ask for it!!

Kelly's is a little food shack connected to Home Depot by the Check-out exit. Dogs, sandwiches, burgers and a few Mexican items. I've had tacos which are a bit large than your standard street taco (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kellys-deli-emeryville?select=ucNA-9SYotiDnrHlKGry5A), a Polish sausage (think Costco food-court), and a torta which is served on the same roll as their sandwiches and cheesesteaks (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kellys-deli-emeryville?select=E9Z7ouLnaJ62avoAThWWww) and had lettuce and tomato (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kellys-deli-emeryville?select=tuNQvBUbpyl9tDwrD2ijzw). There was a bite or two with beans and a few with some shredded cheese . . . not sure if those were supposed to be all over or just remnants of their quick serve operation. Nothing to write home about, but beggars trying to run hardware errands over lunch can't be choosers.

    El Pastor Burrito
    Alex M.

Some of the best places can be found in the most unexpected places, and Kelly's Deli is no exception. Hidden in a small outside section of Home Depot, I discovered this cute little stand that serves up huge flavor ! I ordered the El Pastor burrito, and it was amazing. The meat was very tender and had a well balanced flavor of sweet, salty, savory, and just a kick of heat. The rice was well cooked and not to mushy, the beans added a nice texture, the cheese had a distinct yet not overpowering flavor, and the sour cream was just enough to add moisture while not making the burritro to soupy. The tortilla is also slightly toasted, which adds a nice flavor and texture. They also give you two salsas, both of which are absolutely delicious. The green salsa has a nice toastiness from the roasted tomatillos while the red salsa adds a legit kick of spiciness ! The burrito comes out to $10 and is very filling, so the price point is good as well.

I really shouldn't single them out because I've noticed that a lot of the east bay delis have the same type of bread, but I will say that it just wasn't my taste. The rolls (I got the Dutch Crunch, sourdough roll, and the soft roll) were not that great and --like I said-- maybe it's the same vendors everyone uses in the east bay. I ordered a tuna sandwich with everything on Dutch crunch bread, along with some Harvest Cheddar SunChips and a Strawberry Kiwi Snapple. Let me tell you--the sandwich was excellent. Easily one of the best deli sandwiches I've had, especially from an independently owned spot. The place itself has a great old-school vibe. Lots of photos on the walls and even some Raiders memorabilia, which gives it a real local feel. When I got there, there were a few people ahead of me, so I waited about 10-15 minutes, but it was worth it. You can tell they're making everything fresh. There were about 4-5 people working behind the counter, and even though they were busy, they were still friendly, engaging, and interacting with customers, which I liked. The lady at the register was also very nice and welcoming. They've got a wide variety of sandwiches to choose from. I've tried a few over the years, but next time I might go for something like the Chicago-style meatball sandwich. They have a modest but solid selection of Italian deli meats (Serrano ham, prosciutto, pancetta, etc), pasta, olive oil, vinegars, and a couple specialty jams (calabrian chile orange, etc) - basically all you'd need for a gourmet charcuterie board meal or snack. Last time I was here, picked ip a bottle of nicely aged balsamic vinegar from Italy, which has lasted me for a couple years. Today, decided to try one of their specialty Italian sandwiches with a shot of expresso on the side... and Mama Mia was the sandwich absolutely amazing! I highly recommend the Jamon Serrano & Manchego sandwich ($14.50). It comes with shaved ribbons of serrano ham, 1/5 inch thick slice of aged manchego cheese, a creamy spread of chevre goat cheese, chopped/marinated artichokes and arugula greens on a crusty/crunchy baguette (between half to a full foot long). I practically finished this within 10 minutes - it was so good! The expresso shot ($3.25) was also a good pairing for me. Loved the aroma, made from nicely dark roasted beans. The waitress looked comfortable wearing her pajamas and the cook in his shorts and t-shirt.... Odd, but whatever. Some standard tables and chairs and a cooler in the dining area for drinks. Handy, I suppose. Or, maybe that was the only outlet available? Who knows? Added character! Haha I'll share some positive notes: The French fries were great! Perfectly crisp outside and tender in! We ordered the pulled pork fries as an appetizer. It was okay. The pork tasted a little off, but not quite sure why. My daughter's cheeseburger was fine. My friends sandwich, BLT was also fine. Things went south from here. My sandwich was the brisket and the waitress said it was her favorite. Well... everybody has different tastes I guess because I felt like it was gross. The meat tasted old and it was absolutely the messiest sandwich in the Kingdom of Messy Sandwiches. I'm OK, in general, with messy sandwiches, but in this case it was extreme. I needed a bib and wet wipes in abundance. It came with a salad, which would have been great, except they absolutely DROWNED it in an apple cider vinegar dressing. The thing is, the dressing had a wonderful flavor, and it would have been quite lovely had it not been so cloying and gooped on so massively. It was literally inedible. So after three bites of the sandwich and one bite of the salad, I decided to send it back. The whole plate was just nasty. And this is where my rating went from a 3 or 4 stars to a two. First the waitress was extremely confused. Okaaay.... So she went to talk to the cook who then came out to argue with me. I was trying hard not to be rude. I just wanted to let them know that I didn't want the sandwich and they needed to take it back. I told him that I didn't like it. He proceeds to tell me that it is everyone's favorite, their most popular sandwich. That all of their sandwiches are messy. ( The BLT and the hamburger were not. They were normal) so I tell them that despite other people liking it apparently I did not. I explained how there was too much salad dressing and that the meat tasted old to me. They acted like they had no idea what to do with this feedback. I said please just take this plate away from our table. I was not paying the bill so I do not know for sure if they charged for it or not. But yuck. Who argues with a customer? Especially when it's about taste and perceived quality, as we all have different taste buds that's why there's a menu of different options available at restaurants! I worked in restaurants for many years of my life. I hate sending things back and I don't do it unless it is really bad or really not what I ordered. It's very uncomfortable to be confrontational at all with anyone at any time, but the reality is when we are paying for something we want it to be good and if it is not good we need to be able to speak up about it and hold them accountable to an inferior quality product. They made that very difficult.

It's a cute delicatessen/restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Immediately the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The woman at the register was very nice and asked if we had any questions. My mom and I shared a pastrami sandwich, Brussels sprouts, fries, and slaw. It was reasonably priced for the Bay Area. When they brought the food to the table I was shocked. Everything looked amazing and very appetizing, and the portions were much bigger than expected. Before she brought the sandwich over, she asked if we were sharing it and was so nice to split it into 2 plates for us. That was very kind for her to do. Let's start with the French fries. Omg they were perfectly crisp but still fluffy on the inside. They had so much flavor probably because of the beef tallow and had just the right amount of salt on them. There was a side of mayonnaise with the fries, and it tasted homemade. I meant to ask them if it was. It was very good lol I couldn't get enough. The poppyseed slaw was very refreshing and it was tangy and sweet. We loved that the cabbage remained crispy and it was great for a warm day. The fried Brussels sprouts were full of flavor. They were a nice balance of sweet and salty. I loved the bacon on them. The hot pastrami sandwich definitely satisfied my pastrami craving! There was just the right ratio of meat-cheese-sauerkraut-mustard-dressing. The bread tasted freshly baked as well. It was full of flavor. And the side salad that came with the sandwich was excellent. We loved the tanginess of the dressing. We were shocked that there wasn't more people inside, but also for 2pm on a Monday, it probably was just an off hour. We had so many leftovers as we both don't eat very much, but lol as soon as I got home I started eating some more of the slaw and salad. Can't wait to eat the rest for lunch tomorrow. We are already planning on coming back to try the meatballs next time and definitely trying their Indian cuisine! I'll have to bring my husband here next. Thank you guys for an amazing lunch!
