My girlfriend and I are in the process of moving out of Emeryville at the moment (end of an era). During our time here I would always see Kelly's deli in the Home Depot parking lot and would joke about going there. Over the last year of living here I learned that it was actually beloved establishment of the area , but I never got the chance to go. This morning, on our last day in Emeryville, My girlfriend surprised me with a bacon breakfast burrito from Kelly's Deli. It was honestly extremely good . The hype is real - you get a pretty sizeable burrito for a decent price (better than Breakfast Little in San Francisco for sure) which is loaded up with eggs, a meat of your choice, sour cream, beans and hashbrowns. The Salsas that come on the side are also perfection. A meal like this is super filling and can definitely hold you down/ prep you for a long day. Had to get the famous breakfast burrito (bacon, would have gotten chorizo but I had a feeling it'd be too greasy). The cheese, potato bits, egg, and bacon are all cut up into a homogenous mass before put inside a soft tortilla. Me personally, I like my burrito innards heterogenous so I can target a bite here and there. The side salsa was not too hot but gave it the flavor it really needed. I am on the hunt for MY perfect breakfast burrito. I just moved to Oakland about 6 months ago, and I had read an article that put Kelly's on a list of great ones. I work around the corner, so I figured I guess I better try it out. The customer service is lackluster. I've been to many places, where Spanish is their first language, but their customer service is still top notch. And, here. They're just they're to serve the food. And I get that. But, I also believe that if they kicked up that customer service, this place would be more memorable outside of a random HD. And obviously, it's outside of an HD, so depending on the day, parking can be wild. People can be wild. But it was fairly quiet on this Saturday mid morning. It took about 10 minutes, and thankfully it was a beautiful day. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon, and it was tasty. And I'm going to admit this to you right now, I am what I like to call a pansy when it comes to spice. Whenever my friends tell me "it's not that spicy" I tend to roll my eyes at them. We got a super al pastor burrito that had no avocado or sour cream, and a breakfast burrito that was wrapped so poorly, that one entire side was missing the tortilla (how does that even happen??). See attached photo. When we showed the manager what the breakfast burrito looked like, he apologized and offered to remake both burritos and provide us with two drinks on the house. My al pastor burrito was ok, there was an unusual subtle banana flavor in the burrito that was off putting. The remade breakfast burrito was far better. Should be ZERO stars. Price menu grossly out of date. They don't honor the shown prices. Ordered 2 chili dogs, a coke , and a small fries. At a cost of almost $30. Wow! That's overpriced. After complaining, they wouldn't give a refund. They said they couldn't update the menu sign. All they did was upgrade other fries to a large. Got a number for owner(?). Don't expect to get anywhere with that. On top of the false pricing, food was just mediocre...certainly not worth almost $30. Called Richard (owner?). Who would have guessed that this unassuming shack next to Home Depot would have the best breakfast burrito in Oakland? What a hidden gem! What makes the Bacon Breakfast Burrito so good? The eggs, bacon, cheese, and hashbrowns are all well-incorporated leading to the perfect balanced bite. The bacon is crispy, and I'm a big fan of the hashbrowns versus home fries / potato chunks. It's also a great value at $10 and should satiate the hungriest of appetites. The Carne Asada Super Burrito is solid, with good flavor in the steak, but there's definitely better in Oakland. The salsa, while a good complement, is pretty spicy, so I would recommend getting it on the side. Finally, they don't have a phone number to call orders in, so be prepared to wait at least 10 minutes, though they do have some grab-and-go items. Definitely worth the wait though! Kelly's is a little food shack connected to Home Depot by the Check-out exit. Dogs, sandwiches, burgers and a few Mexican items. Some of the best places can be found in the most unexpected places, and Kelly's Deli is no exception. Hidden in a small outside section of Home Depot, I discovered this cute little stand that serves up huge flavor ! I ordered the El Pastor burrito, and it was amazing. The meat was very tender and had a well balanced flavor of sweet, salty, savory, and just a kick of heat. The rice was well cooked and not to mushy, the beans added a nice texture, the cheese had a distinct yet not overpowering flavor, and the sour cream was just enough to add moisture while not making the burritro to soupy. The tortilla is also slightly toasted, which adds a nice flavor and texture. They also give you two salsas, both of which are absolutely delicious. The green salsa has a nice toastiness from the roasted tomatillos while the red salsa adds a legit kick of spiciness ! When my dad and I came here the first time for lunch I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm no food snob, as I often find holes-in-the-wall to be better experiences than five star fine dining, but I wasn't sure if it'd be worth the special trip we made without needing to go into Home Depot. I was pleasantly surprised. I got the three taco and drink combo for a little over six bucks, and went with the chicken. Oh goodness. These tacos are delicious (and the meat is not at all greasy like a previous review stated), with onions, cilantro, and a delicious salsa, and the amount of meat was really generous. Three was enough to fill me up without feeling stuffed but I also didn't feel cheated. Came back today with my parents and brother and got the chicken tacos again. A bit disappointed because the girl who made them this time was a bit cheap with the meat, but they were still delicious and a great value. I'd make a trip here just for the tacos, and if I worked in the area I'd come across the parking lot to get them. There's also a large menu of sandwiches, breakfast items, and items from the grill; my brother and dad got the polish dog, which was pretty large and, according to them, really good as well. In my experience, it's so hard to find a good ham breakfast burrito. The one the this place makes is absolutely BOMB af. I had a pastor burrito (pastor is my go-to meat for burritos), and let me tell you, it is one of the best pastor burritos I've had around east bay. Meat is well-cooked and seasoned nicely, and the portion is rather large and nicely filled. It's also a great deal, the burrito costs $10! Although I haven't tried the other stuff, I will be sure to come back here for breakfast one of these days and try the other items that people are raving about. This is the type of place you will always distinctly remember for its odd location and it's satisfying food. I've searched all around Oakland and Berkeley for a place that can make a great take-out breakfast burrito. Finally Ive found it, Kelly's is the place. Perfect balance of bacon, hash browns, egg, cheese, and a GREAT salsa on the side to add to each bite . I went with bacon but next time I'll go sausage or chorizo if they have it. I can only sing praises of their breakfast burritos. There is nothing better before facing a Home Depot run on a weekend morning. This is the food stand attached to the Home Depot. There are two large outdoor tables. We've now tried the burrito with breakfast sausage, ham, and bacon. Ham was probably our favorite, with the sausage a close second. They often have a couple burritos ready to go, sitting there in foil, but yesterday we arrived just after a family of 5, and three others dudes waiting for food, so we had a 10 min. wait for our burritos. They mentioned this when I placed the order, so no problem. The hash browns, eggs, and meat are all grilled for awhile, picking up a really nice flavor before they top with cheese.
