Empty plate treatment to the goodness of this place
Paula B.

this is one of those places that should be packed at 10:30 AM on a saturday. it's on the way to coos bay and north bend. it has everything people should want for breakfast plus some special treats. I forgot to snap a photo of my french toast and perfectly poached eggs. but here's one of the empty plate to declare the deliciousness. the stag is as sweet as can be. thanks for being here - an oasis in the middle of nothing.

Great breakfast today. Had simple 2 eggs, bacon and hash browns. All done perfectly. Waitress was attentive and awesome.

Followed the Yelp reviews here. I had the Railroad Special: bacon, eggs and biscuits and gravy. Very nice decor, fast service! The biscuit and gravy was quite good, gravy with sausage chunks just the way I like it. Eggs over hard as I requested, frequent but not obnoxious coffee refills from my cheerful waitress. A great on-the-road replacement for my regular Saturday morning diner!!

Always a good stop for breakfast or lunch. Food is good and portions are plentiful. Simple menu, good atmosphere and well worth the stop. Prices are average or maybe a little above, but worth every penny.

These are supposed "crispy" hashbrowns And an"over medium" egg.

Great service, family friendly, classic home grown cooking. Highly recommend stopping in! Good amount of food for the price.

I was hoping this place would be better than it was. They won't let you get tater tots with…read morebreakfast only lunch items but you can order lunch at anytime, so I had to switch and order lunch. Plus, they won't scramble the omelettes, but you can get scrambled eggs, which makes no sense. Ridiculous! I mean, come on! It was ok. Server was OK.

Immediately after sitting down, I felt like we had done something wrong. Our waitress seemed…read moreirritated with us from the start, and mind you all we had done was sit at the table she instructed us to sit at. For context, I've been a waitress on the coast for nearly 10 years, so I'm usually very mindful of not making a server's job harder, but this felt different. When we ordered, she came across as genuinely annoyed. Did she check on things like coffee? Yes, but with a look of annoyance that made the whole interaction uncomfortable. The food itself was mediocre at best. The gravy was meh, though the chicken fried steak was decent. The "hash browns," however, were not traditional hash browns, they were more like oven roasted potatoes smashed on the grill, which was disappointing if you're expecting the classic version. The pricing was another surprise. I work at a higher end restaurant, and their brunch prices are comparable to what we paid here, which says a lot, considering this is supposed to be a basic diner experience. When our food was dropped off, we were told the toast would be "just a minute." No problem, but when it finally arrived, it was completely cold, with unmelted "butter" that had little to no flavor. And as someone who grew up eating margarine and then transitioning to butter, I knew that this was margarine. My boyfriend who has never had margarine didn't understand why his butter didn't "taste like anything". Also worth noting, my partner ordered a side of sausage links, four small links for $9, yup your read that right, $9 dollars for a side of sausage. Overall, the service felt hostile with a fake mask, the food was mediocre, and the pricing didn't match the experience. As a person who was raised here on the coast and thought to "experience double d's diner again" since it has been a few years, I won't be returning.

Here's a polished version that keeps your voice but adds a little sparkle:…read more Papa Morgan's is exactly the kind of place we love stumbling across -- a cozy little hole-in-the-wall that just feels right the moment you walk in. We were seated immediately, and our coffee and waters showed up almost instantly (always a great sign ). The place is a bit dated, but in a charming, homey way. I actually loved it -- cute decor and even a small jewelry area to browse while you wait... although "wait" might not even be the right word because the food comes out fast! My husband went with the chicken fried steak, and I ordered French toast from the light menu. We usually split a meal, but today we leaned into both sweet and savory -- and I'm glad we did. Everything was delicious, no complaints at all. Service was quick, friendly, and on point. Our coffee cups never hit empty, which honestly deserves its own gold star. Would I return? Absolutely. This is one of those spots that feels like a local favorite for a reason -- and now it's one of ours too.
