She tried mightily to handle customer service, testing, sanitation, coordination with off-site staff, and more--and I do commend her for her efforts. But this is no way to run a health clinic. I was really taken aback by the fact that, once I accepted a telehealth appointment with a nurse practitioner, I was expected to discuss all of my symptoms and treatment options using the receptionist's phone--in full earshot of everyone in the waiting room (though there were only a couple people; one was a minor). I question the legality of practicing medicine in this manner, ie, who is supervising the clinic if no doctors are on site? Are nurse practitioners in Illinois licensed to provide care and prescribe without direct supervision? Furthermore, while the nurse practitioner I spoke with was as kind as can be, their medical advice wasn't helpful. For an unknown respiratory issue I described, they prescribed over-the-counter meds including a sleep aid (although they knew I already had an Rx sleep aid from my own doctor), and a common motion sickness remedy (although they knew I already had an Rx anti-nausea med from my own doctor). They also prescribed a cough suppressant that was just plain ineffective. I don't doubt their intentions, but when I was able to see my own doctor days later, he was frustrated that they didn't prescribe any antibiotics (not knowing whether my infection was viral or bacterial), and at the OTC choices I was given. Moreover, he immediately ordered a chest x-ray, which found that I had already progressed to acute pneumonia. I would return to this urgent care only if--like the day I went there--I had no other choice. And that would be silly, considering there's a reputable hospital right across the street.

Apparently written instructions aren't going to do it either. I am retired, and it should be well understood by people in this type of business that Medicare is billed first, then private insurance. I went to the doctor yesterday, only to be turned away because my private insurance hadn't paid anything on four previous visits (although they HAD paid on others during the same time frame that had been submitted correctly). I called the insurance company who told me that they had refused payment because they had been billed first and said that they would need the office to provide Medicare's Explanation of Benefits. When I told those brainless wonders that, they said that wasn't true. They want a three-way conversation with the insurance company, BUT only during a two-hour time frame because apparently the only person who can do it only works two hours a day. This has been going on since last August (first visit not paid by insurance). Apparently there is no oversight, no supervision, no training and no intelligence employed in this office. If a claim isn't paid, they don't bother to do a follow up to find out why. Poorly run office with people who have their heads so firmly planted up their backsides that they will never see daylight again. When this matter is settled, I will have to find new doctors because the administrative workers are dumber than dirt!

The staff at the front desk has always been professional and courteous. They seems to be personal and remember their patients. I now visit Alton Multispecialist for the pediatrics department. Dr. Lindsey is the absolute best!!! She is very personal and kind with children. She answers any questions parents may have. The best part of pediatrics I rarely wait 5 minute, they are very efficient with their time. The front desk and nurses in the pediatrics have also been great. I would recommend this place to others, especially Dr. Lindsey in pediatrics.

Wow! I know this does not happen often, but I was in and done before my second scheduled…read moreappointment. I had two test scheduled in the, Imaging Department. I was told to arrive at Check-In Desk in the main lobby at 7:15 AM. Being typical early me, I arrived at 6:50 AM. Checking in was smooth and easy. Once that was completed, I was given directions to the Imaging Department. Down the hall, passed a Starbucks, took the elevator down to the LL and down a short corridor to the Imaging check-in desk. Checked in at 7:00 AM. My first appointment was 7:45 and the next one was 8:30. My time in the waiting area was short. Thank goodness, I got my daily Wordle in three guesses. My first test was an UltraSound. The tech had a good bedside manner and explained to me what she was doing. When completed, she checked to see if they were ready for my next test. She came back and told me there would be a wait. She took me a new waiting area. I wasn't there long and my next tech came out and called my name. Barely got started on my Collections game. My second test was a Bone Scan. This tech was good, but her bedside manner was not as good as the previous. She never introduced herself and when she explained what she was doing, her tone was rough. This test was easy and completed quickly. Both test done and I was in my car leaving the parking lot, before my second test was even scheduled to begin. I call that a lucky day. If the second tech had a better bedside manner, I would have given them a 5 Star rating.

I'm retired from 30 years in medical and told her I need the cardiac and vascular department close to radiology. I don't need RT. She proceeds to insist they are the same thing! So we go ahead and follow her wrong directions and that puts us outside our tea department. No one is around at 6:30 in the morning. The place is like a ghost town. Finally an employee comes in to work and she says I'll go get someone to help you out comes another woman. And she is not happy. She says to my daughter and I "if you could read" there is a waiting room right there take a seat and then she stumps off. The waiting room is labeled for new moms and infants. I knew we were in the wrong place. My daughter and I went and sat down for a minute to discuss what to do. My phone goes off from Emily the woman who's going to do my stress test. She says I see you've checked in, but I can't find you. I called her back and she sees we were given wrong directions and I told her what the other RT employee said to us about not being able to read. I'm not an uneducated hillbilly. We finally get to the correct department and I tell them I'm not having this test done until I talk to a supervisor. Keep in mind I'm there for a stress test. Well they are sure helping with my stress. We talked to Tyler the radiology supervisor and she is supposedly appalled. She says the RT supervisor will be told and I will be notified from her. Well, it's been three days and I have not heard from anyone. I will be contacting joint commission about this place. What an awful employee respiratory therapy is protecting ! And while I'm having the test done, my daughter is getting coffee at the coffee shop and she is on the phone telling my other daughter about giving the wrong directions. The woman from RT accusing us of not knowing how to read. And who is in line behind her the front desk supervisor. She apologizes to my daughter and said she just got told about the mixup when she got into work. She said I will be contacting your mother. So I was told I would have two supervisors call me and I have heard nothing where I retired from you could not behave like this.

I tried to tell them that at the front office and they said that my child, who has Pneumonia, would not be seen if I didn't pay the bill. I paid it but once I got in a room I looked up my payments and took screen shots of them and went and showed the front desk. They said they had to speak to the office manager and would get back to me. I went back into the room with my child. At the end of the exam the office manager came in and stated that she looked through their records and stated that sometimes the insurance will up charge people (on a co-pay? That makes no sense) and her office can't do anything about it but she did provide a refund. I have never ever heard of this being done on a co-pay. It's so ridiculous. She then proceeded to say that she won't tolerate her office being shouted at, which I did not do. Did I tell them that they needed to refund me? Yes. Did I tell them that they needed to provide hard proof of what I owe (which they never did by the way. I was just expected to take their word on it)? Yes. I did not shout. I did not raise my voice. Did I get a little huffy with them? Yes. However, the front desk would not listen to me when I told them that I knew I didn't owe anything and they were refusing to see my sick child unless I paid. I was reasonably upset. At this point, I did call the office manager a name or two because she came into that room ready for a fight and was being very unprofessional and nasty to me. Then, she tells me if I don't stop I wouldn't be able to continue to be seen by them. I told her that at this point I didn't want to continue being seen by them. She then threatens to call security on me. All this is being done in front of my child, might I add. She walks me out of the room and while she is trying to get me a slip to be removed from their services she is continuing to try and call security on me with my child right there. I was trying to calmly (maybe with a slight attitude, which was understandable at this point) tell her that I was only trying to discuss the situation and she was being very unprofessional and I couldn't understand how she was an office manager treating her patients like this. She would not hear it and was just being downright rude. The simple fact is that her office made a mistake and she could not handle being confronted with the fact. She offered no proof to back up her claims that it was the insurance's mistake and not theirs. She was trying to throw blame like that lady in the viral video that said the man hit her with her car when he in fact did no such thing. This woman should not be leader over an office that deals with anyone, let alone children. I will never go back here and I highly suggest that no one else does either. They're a terrible, unreasonable, nasty group of people.

Although now the nurse practitioners are horrible. One misdiagnosed my son with an allergic reaction. When I called to see about another appointment 3 days later because he was not improving the nurse I talked to at the front desk refused to schedule the appointment and told me to call back on Monday because the notes in his chart said so. It was 6 days after the misdiagnosis when they would finally be bothered to see him! It took the doctor all of 3 minutes with my son to realize he was misdiagnosed, never an apology or anything received from anyone in the practice! Then the other nurse practitioner cleaned my sons ears while we came in after he failed a hearing test at school. She literally did one scoop in each ear with a wax extractor and then said that's why he failed the test. Never would do a hearing test and then got rude when I requested to speak to her supervisor. Then if that wasn't bad enough she billed an additional $75.00 on top of the original cost of the appointment for the "Ear Cleaning" as she called it. When I called to complain about the bill I was told nothing could be done and I should just pay it. I tried a week later to call about the bill again and was told the same thing! This office has become horrendous!! I changed pediatricians and I am very happy with the new office we go to.
