Well, I think this doctor is just fine for routine care, but when it comes to treating an aging parent, he doesn't really know what to do. He is very much an inside-the-box thinker who can't easily conceive of the many things that influence one's health--such as access to transportation to go grocery shopping or cutting or changing medications without notice despite the need to taper or transition slowly to prevent additional issues. Under his care, my parent's health continues to fluctuate highly as measured by bioindicators that show a strong risk of heart attack or stroke--yet he refuses to call insurance to get the appropriate medication approved. Further, although my parent has been getting assistance through a home health care agency for the past few years (shopping, cooking, cleaning, help with ADLs), he decided to cut off the assistance without warning, claiming that it's unnecessary (despite a lack of transportation, sidewalks and long walk to shopping centers, a history of osteoporosis including breaking a rib simply by coughing, and so on). Wtf?? Bottom line: If you want a friend who charges you to see them, you'll find a friend in Dr. Schnide. If you want a doctor who actually fights for your right to be healthy (and knows how to be scientific rather than do what he feels like doing that day or year), go elsewhere.

He and his medical assistant are also accessible via email, which is greatly appreciated. He and the staff consistently call to follow up, and they help with things that don't even have anything to do with them (like issues with the pharmacy or lab). Myrlande, Dr. Boker's medical assistant, has been nothing but helpful, especially with difficult issues that have given me anxiety! Icing on the cake is the very convenient location on 42nd St - just 3 blocks from my office. His staff is super friendly and easy to work with when making appointments. So believe all the 5 stars! In addition to that - and subsequently not even properly diagnosing my allergy - this guy had the gall to charge me a ridiculously high amount for a plastic spacer that the drug salespeople leave with doctors as samples to give to their patients free of charge. He even said, while handing it to me "Here's something for you." only to go and bill my insurance for it! Not only did I already have one and never claimed to need a new one - but I could have gotten it at my pharmacy for no cost if I did need one. He's that good?? Yes, he's that good. My daughter had an urgent medical emergency years ago. I credit him for leading the way in saving her life. She also travels to see him.
