The most traumatic experience of my life & One of the worst places I have ever been" I was treated like an animal. I really wish I had read the reviews here before deciding to schedule my gastro procedure there. I was administered strong anesthesia and couldn't even open one of my eyes when The young rude & very aggressive nurse was insisting that I wake up and get out of bed when I was not able to and hardly 30 second after I open one of my eyes. I have had several procedures with anesthesia in the past, but I have never experienced such hostel rude treatment before. Being forced to wake up abruptly and forcefully pushed to get out of bed was a terrible experience not even two minutes after I hardly open my eyes. Not to mention the whole facility based in a small townhouse That smells like a Someone smoked cigarette for 100 years. When I finally managed to open my eyes, the nurse called her colleague, who also pushed and pinch me in the middle of the chest forcefully to get up. I am appalled by the behavior of the staff at this facility. The doctor Kevin Dodd who performed my procedure was impatient and unprofessional. The report he provided lacked details and was very vague, as if he had written it in a rush. He did not return to the room to discuss the report with me And never called to follow up. How can a doctor effectively communicate with a patient who has just been forcefully awakened from anesthesia? He said he will come back in a few minutes and he never did. My friend who accompanied me was equally shocked by the whole experience. Additionally, the receptionist was impatient, rude, and took her time to assist us at the window. It is unacceptable to allow such behavior in a medical facility. This place should be shut down. I urge others to think twice before seeking treatment here." Horrendous. Do NOT go to this practice. The incompetence borders on malpractice. Dr. Kevin Dodd does not communicate. He neither can communicate nor sees the value in communicating with the patient. It takes extreme persistence on the part of the patient to squeeze one sentence out of him that provides information that is rightfully the patient's. After all, it is our body. To get more than one sentence the patient must be extremely aggressive, which is hard for many people when dealing with a doctor. Not only is the communication insulting and nonexistent but the competence is dangerously lacking. No one in the entire Woodstock office was able to insert a catheter to start the colonoscopy procedure, and that includes the anesthesiologist. Unbelievable. In addition, Dr. Dodd takes a hands-off approach to patients once they're on medication. There is no discussion throughout the months and even years after he starts a patient on a medication that can be dangerous when taken long-term. His indifference and lack of involvement in the patient's medication means you might stay on quite powerful medication forever -- long after you no longer need it. Thus possibly damaging certain organs. There are no questions regarding symptoms, there is no attempt to scale back the medication. There is nothing. Three reluctantly offered sentences from Dodd and you're out of the office. This practice is DANGEROUSLY incompetent and the zero communication between doctor and patient should not be tolerated by any patient. read more

yikes. i'm amazed at these negative reviews. my husband & i have been patients of hudson valley gastro for over a decade, as was my late mother. we have both had numerous screenings and consults with both drs. dodd & goldstein, as well as a previous partner who has retired. every single staff member made the process of very unpleasant procedures as pleasant as possible. we rarely had to wait long past our appointment times, have always had great anesthetists, and woke up fully dressed & comfortably in a recovery room armchair. the doctor came in shortly after & advised us of findings & followup. communication of prep procedures is prompt and efficient. if i have one complaint, it's about the labs the practice contracts to. their billing is a nightmare, but i'm not putting that on the practice. read more

My husband's procedure took place in the Woodstock, disgusting office. His prep cost $40 after insurance reimbursement, As a nurse for over 35 years I have NEVER. NEVER heard of a prep with $40 co-pay. Usual prep costs are -ZERO- or the cost of over the counter preps (maybe $15). It wa an assembly line. His procedure was late in the afternoon and as I was waiting the staff was closing up and the office started to get very cold. My husband was rushed out of the office too early spaced on his anesthesia. I walked into the post procedure room and this spaced out man was trying to put on his shoes, unsupervised. Dangerous place. My husband is NOT an old man, but when under anesthesia one should not be left unsupervised in a CHAIR. Fortunately, the results are good. I have told my husban he is on his own if he ever chooses to go there again. read more

Stay away from this place. The doctors don't run it, their unlicensed staff does. I asked fir a FIT DNA test before the sigmoidiscopy, as my former gastroenterologist suggested. The doctors " assistant" found my request too annoying because I changed a colonoscopy to a sigmoidoscopy due to another condition that would have been severely worsened by colonoscopy prep. I wanted to see if the sigmoidoscopy was necessary as I feared even that procedure would worsen this horrible condition I'm dealing with. Instead if ordering the teet, ir even speaking to the doctor about it, she canceled my procedure. The staff us grossly uncaring, read other reviews about their smug uncaring behaviors toward patients. This is no joke. I sent a certified letter addressed to tge doctor thst the postal worker did not deliver to thecdoctor himself, as was directed by instructions when I oaid fir this certification. His " assistant" signed fir it instead. Because she's not a licensed medical person, the State wouldnt investigate. DO NOT GO NEAR THEM. There are other qualified gastroenterologists, not just in this area but in Poughkeepsie and Albany Medical Center where the doctors ARE IN CHARGE if decision making for their patients.​ read more

They scheduled me for a colonoscopy. They told me to be at kingston Hospital for the procedure. They actually do the procedures in house at Pearl St.. Now I have a bill for $1,600.00 and they won't call me back or help me. Dr. Goldstein was supposed to call me back and now I'm being stonewalled by their office manager. read more

Saw Dr. Goldstein in the summer of last year for stomach pain, bloating, and eructation. My pain was dismissed and I was told by the doctor that if I hadn't ended up in the hospital since the last time I'd previously seen him before the pandemic, then it really doesn't seem like it's that big of an issue. After mentioning that the pain was affecting my work as a model, the doctor stopped asking questions about my pain and started asking questions about my job. Multiple times I, the patient, had to steer the conversation back towards the reason I was there. He told me I was probably swallowing air subconsciously and I had anxiety over my breathing/swallowing habits for months, convinced I was causing my own pain. I was denied a bacterial breath test and upper endoscopy, and when I refused to leave empty-handed I have prescribed a muscle relaxer for IBS. In November my pain got worse, I was in pain every single day. I looked up other Gastroenterologists and went to a place with nearly a perfect 5-star rating. They accepted my request for an upper endoscopy and found SEVERE stomach ulcers, acid reflux, and tearing of the stomach lining. That doctor was amazed I hadn't gone to the emergency room and I had to explain that Dr. Goldstien had invalidated my pain so I never went to the hospital. 0/5 stars, this doctor does not take women seriously. read more

went to hudson Valley Gastroenterology Group from a friend who had seen Dodd ..My experience was total thumbs down..dr.Dodd was during initial visit suggesting i get a colonoscopy and referenced I.B.S. as possible diagnosis..which after bowel samples came back from lab i was diagnosed with giardiasis..another question during my first visit was are you experiencing stress,.i think that is a bad question to ask in a medical interview better asked by a psychological assessment..his office was late to get my prescription to the drug store for pickup because he was out in vacation ..REALLY ..I unfortunately have bee dealing with this parasitic problem for more than ten months and because of health facilities were consumed with CoVid i did not seek a visit until know ..if you want your insurance to be billed for tests and procedures you do not need but increase the wealth of your doctor/doctors go see this doctor. read more
