I visited for the first time ever on 5-8-2026. This spot is deep in East Point. The reputation precede this place iykyk. Established in 1972. The first seafood restaurant in Atlanta GA. Great spot. It's a typical hole in the wall--not much to look at from the outside but bursting with flavor and amazing food. It wasn't very crowded. I dropped in for a late lunch. The owners/attendants are very kind and make sure you understand the menu and get exactly what you ordered. They have a pretty extensive menu of various combinations of fish, shrimp, and the like. Parking is limited. They also have an assort of desserts that I didn't get a chance to try but that fish is amazing. The wait is about 15 minutes. There is a decent amount of indoor seating. The fish comes come with this delectable coleslaw, fries, and delicious shrimp. They do good fried seafood right. The hushpuppies are interesting. They are like a sweet, fried cookie. They are not like any hushpuppies I've ever had. Take that for whatever you think it means. But I love the fish and the shrimp and that terrific coleslaw. This spot is next to a gas station and it's really small, expect to smell like fried fish when you leave. I got the fish and shrimp combo and the hubs got the supreme (fish sandwich). We waited 48mins. I was EXTREMELY disappointed, after the first 15 mins I went to the car. I called him and he said "still waiting" he finally came out and by that time I was STARVING (first meal of the time on a road trip) I opened the box to 2 nice size pieces of whiting and 1 tiny one. It was OK, but it NEEDED sauce. Tarter, hot sauce heck anything. There was NONE in the bag nor were there napkins. There were about 6 nice sized shrimp but they were bland like the whiting. The frozen to oil cooked fries were seasoned tho. The hush puppies (you get 2) wasn't edible. It was SWEET and oily. I know there's an oily belch to come. The hubs asked for his sandwich to be made without ketchup or tomato and YOU GUESSED IT both were on there. Will I return? ONLY if he decides to come back but I'll make sure to ASK for sauce for the fish and definitely ask them to hold the hush puppies (which is sad bc I'm a hush puppy LOVER). Visited this hidden gem today and was so elated. I had the Whiting, coleslaw, fries & hushpupies. Don't let the outside of the establishment fool you. There coleslaw really took me by storm and don't let me to brag on the beautiful hushpuppies. The cooks in the kitchen definitely know about food. I got the fried whiting dinner that came with fries, 2 hush puppies and coleslaw. I also got 2 sides of tartar sauce. While I wasn't a fan of the tartar sauce or the coleslaw, the fried fish was nothing short of amazing! Perfectly crisp and seasoned. The hush puppies were slightly sweet which I loveddd. I experienced the food truck from this restaurant. I had the three whiting dinner which comes with French fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. For $20 I feel like a good amount of food came with the plate, but the quality left more to be desired. As far as quality goes, the fries tasted like they were frozen from the grocery store - nothing impressive. As far as preferences go, the Cole slaw was on the sweeter side. It's clear a lot of sugar went into that. Same for the hush puppies: I would describe them more like savory donut holes before I called them hush puppies. The sweetness of these two weren't my favorite, but I know I generally prefer savory so maybe they are someone else's bread and butter. Overall, good amount of food for the price and the food truck experience is cute, but I wouldn't return based on my experiences with the flavor choices. I learned about this spot by word-of-mouf (as Ludacris would say) and was in the mood for seafood, so I left the office and journeyed from downtown out in the rain to honor my craving. Since I was pressed for time, I called in the order for a fish and shrimp dinner + okra + fries. If you have time to wait you can place your order upon arrival and then take a look at the wall of fame photos while your food is being freshly prepared. Anywhoo, thankfully the food was ready upon my arrival. I walked in to a clean restaurant and was greeted by the staff. The cook was sure to show me what he had prepared and once you acknowledged and agreed, you could then pay for your order and be on your merry way. The young lady at the register did a really good job of selling me on the lemonade that she had made, so I decided to bless myself with a large---light on the ice; please and thank you. Let's just say that neither the food nor the lemonade did not disappoint. Fresh and well seasoned seafood that is always cooked to order. No negatives, but rather a suggestion. Since it's lint where I come from NOLA, I was craving fish and wanted the best place in Atlanta to get some deep fried Catfish and I found on google Rahims On Wheels. It's funny because i've passed this place many times going to Publix. Anyway, it's not even 3 minutes from my house off Campbellton Rd, so I called and drove over. I ordered the Fried Catfish Plate and a side of Fried Shrimp (12 ct.). While waiting, I just took a look at the Wall of Fame and to my surprise there were lots of famous R&B celebs on them along with the owners. While waiting for my order, I spoke with one of the twins and my cashier Zuhairah Rahim, who was very polite and assured me my order was on the way. I told her "No Worries"! When the order was ready, she showed me the food before she closed the containers, and I have to say, it looks just like how I deep fry my seafood, given I'm from New Orleans. We spoke about how long they have been there, and I was amazed on the longevity of the restaurant. Well, to my amazement, the food was "Right On"!!! It was absolutely DELICIOUS, CRISPY, FRESH AND HOT!!! I have just found myself a seafood spot to match my cooking trends, given I am a Culinary/Pastry Chef in the business for over 35 years, I have to say, "Well Done, Rahims On Wheels"!!! A friend of mine had a Groupon for here and so I found myself here. I wanted shrimp, but you can't have shrimp and use the Groupon (womp, womp). Anyway, I ended up trying the whiting plate. It came with 4, good sized pieces of fish, which were well seasoned. The fries were those of the frozen, crinkled variety. They charged me 55 cents because I wanted a cocktail sauce. The lady explained that cocktail sauce is only served with the shrimp (which I couldn't get with the Groupon), and so it would be 55 cents if I wanted it with the fish. I can't stand to be charged for any sauces. This is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It gets three stars in the category entitled Hole-in-Zee-Wahl. Again, the fish was seasoned well and hot. This restaurant had a certain glory back in the day. Apparently, it was the first black seafood restaurant in Atlanta (I think that's what it boosted). I've heard mention of this establishment over the years as a part of Atlanta's history. The wall is full of photos of various celebrities who have dined there. Lots of rappers, but most notably, Muhammad Ali. I can now say that I've tried the legendary Rahim's Seafood. read more

I try to support black owned businesses as much as possible but I will never come here again. I paid .59 for an extra sauce and when I checked my food the sauce was not in the bag. I was given skimpy fries after paying $10 for food. I let the lady know and she is arguing with me about a dam sauce. I will never return to this ghetto establishment. Just moved into this area and wanted some seafood. The first time we went they were closed at 7:30 and were supposed to close at 9. Next time I called to see what time they closed and I was told 7:15. Called several times starting at 6:30 and no answer. Went in and placed order and waited about 15 minutes. I had been driving by this place on my way home for at least three years, and always thought about trying it, but it's not the best location in the world. While on Groupon, I saw a coupon and decided to give it a try. I must admit that I was very impressed! I had the catfish dinner and chicken wings. The fish was very tender and flaky, and they actually cooked my wings extra crispy like I always prefer. I took a peek back into the kitchen, and it was rather clean. This old family business has won me over again! After an unusual experience over the summer, I decided to give them one more try. After all, they have been my family's favorite since Peyton Seafood. I'm talking about for decades, literally. So I learned a valuable lesson- if you have an issue it really is best to speak (respectfully and politely) with the owner. She acknowledged and apologized for the food not meeting her standards a few months ago, and guaranteed me I would be pleased this time. And pleased I was. You see, it was more than just food. This fish was a tie that bonded the family. It was a welcomed addition to the board games, old pictures, jokes and stories of our childhood as we gathered the night before my aunt's funeral. Fried fish was good but hush puppies were way too sweet and taste like a donut gone wrong. Hot wings and french fries both needed to be fried longer- wings werent crispy enough and meat had a funny taste and the potato in the fries wasnt soft enough. Definitely not worth going back sadly read more
