Our stay--9/30/23--The location is gorgeous, but too many red flags. When the reservation was made, on 8/5/23, Rita (the owner) agreed to have a bed put in for our son. When we arrived, the bed was not there and she didn't bring one, as she said it was too heavy to carry. She asked if he could sleep on the bench or on the short couch that he was longer than. So disheartening and insulting. There was no key or code for us to lock up our belongings. We had to rely on people just being honest and not stealing. We actually took valuables with us when we left for dinner. Breakfast: She had asked us what we liked and asked my son what he liked. He said he would try the stuffed French toast. She brought out the smallest plate of scrambled egg whites, ONE microwaved Eggo waffle, a slice of watermelon with some blueberries and cantaloupe. The meal he had could not satisfy a 3 year old's stomach. My husband and I had to give him a portion of our already small portion of stuffed French toast. One of the most hurtful parts of the trip was being isolated from the rest of the group during breakfast. She asked us to sit in the sunroom which is not set up for proper dining (table was too small and chairs are for lounging not eating breakfast). We felt treated like 2nd class customers, maybe because she has a problem with kids? Or, worse, a problem with my skin color or with my husband's foreign accent? We're just baffled and left to wonder. She didn't suggest that any other guest be isolated to the sunroom for dining. If I could give 0 stars for service, I would. Again, location is great, but courtesy and customer service not even close to meeting the bar. The average rating is completely unjustified and misleading. read more

This place is wonderful! Started out on a Friday night on the porch with Dane, Rita and six other guests enjoying a complimentary wine tasting from Jewell Vineyards with one of the winemakers himself. It was nice to meet other people and hear their stories as well as get to know the keepers of the B&B themselves! Rita and Dane had many suggestions for dinner spots and kindly called ahead to make sure there was availability for us (they led us to a pub that didn't need reservations) . After we returned we sat on the porch with a blanket and our wine as the night turned to dark. So romantic! Saturday morning began with delicious fresh brewed coffee and a sitdown breakfast at a table with the 8 other guests. Loved how intimate it was and that it encouraged meeting new people. The food was bomb! Homemade potato veggie pie, chicken apple sausage with Gouda, and savory scones - all served with fresh squeezed orange juice from their garden. I felt so spoiled! Saturday evening after getting engaged on their front property (!!!!) the staff had set up homemade truffles, champagne, and a personalized card at their own doing, couldn't believe the generosity. Sunday morning was just as great with a breakfast of yogurt with homemade granola, chicken sausage, fruit, and a berry and cream cheese stuffed croissant casserole. We followed the breakfast with a tour through the house's vineyard with Dane about the home wine making process. Such a treat, and we were able to taste some at the end. I only wish they sold the bottles! This was by far the most amazing weekend, and I couldn't imagine a better setting than Raford. I cannot wait to return in the future!! read more

The best B&B in the Russian River area!! The inn sits on a hill grounds. This is a great place to sit and relax, especially with a glass of wine. The staff couldn't be any nicer! They make helpful recommendations for wineries and restaurants. (They often called restaurant to make reservations for us.) The food is spectacular! Great breakfast! I always let them know in advance of my food allergies, and they are very accommodating. Cookies, coffee and hot teas could often be found through out the day inside the house. I would definitely recommend this place and hopefully be back in the future!! read more

I booked a stay at the Raford Inn for the weekend following the fourth of July - paying for one night in advance as a deposit back on April 2nd. I made dinner reservations for the nights we were planning to be there and booked a brewery tour that I paid for up front (I'm a planner). With just over 2 weeks before I was supposed to arrive, I got a call that they had somehow double booked, and were giving my room to the person who booked through a third party booking website back in December and had no other room to offer me. They were apologetic, but I found this completely unacceptable as their mistake left me scrambling to find another place at the last minute. Given that I booked at the beginning of April, I'm not sure how they didn't discover the mistake until the end of June - if I had been told back in April I still would have had time. They offered to email other Inns nearby and found one in Guerneville that they gave my information and said would create a booking for me, but that was 5 miles further in the wrong direction for our intended destination (Healdsburg), and upon viewing the alternate accommodation on Yelp, it was not on par with the photos of the grounds and rooms at the Raford. It had good reviews, but was a clear step down from the type of accommodation that I had booked. In the end I booked a replacement Inn in Healdsburg, walking distance to everything there. I paid an extra $110/night as my options are now much more limited at the last minute, but as we are now right in town I'm hoping the convenience justifies the cost. I cannot recommend the Raford Inn - paying your deposit up front does not guarantee your accommodation. They just hold on to hundreds of dollars for almost 3 months and leave you rethinking your carefully researched and planned out trip. read more

Most bnb spots are very good about their customer service and the food they provide and this place was no exception. Dane and Rita (owners) treated us like family which was visiting and not like customers. They left us a hand written note, a small flower in our room, chocolate, extra towels, and bottled water in our room. Talking to them, you can see that taking care of their guest has become their craft and they don't take it lighty. Not only will they take care of you, the home is beautiful, and the location is a straight home run. If your on the fence about this place, don't be, you won't regret it. read more

The Raford Inn was an absolute treat. It is an old Victorian home turned into an inn located on a hill overlooking beautiful vineyards. There is a wonderful porch that wraps around the front of the inn with comfy chairs that is a gorgeous place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day. The owners, Dane and Rita serve local wine (Mohsshin Vineyard) at the end of each afternoon and guests gather to mingle and socialize with each other and with them as well. They are a delightful couple who were fun to talk to and they clearly take pride in their inn and in growing local produce and grapes. A tour of their farm and gardens is offered, but we weren't able to take advantage of it due to the timing of our stay. Their gardens are lovely and full of beautiful flowers and hummingbirds abound. We were greeted by a great blue heron on the front porch when we arrived. Rita said she'd never seen one before, but this heron was amazing - a real serendipity. Our room was very nice and well-appointed with a refrigerator, a comfortable bed, and lots of special touches like wine glasses and a corkscrew. I will warn you that there is no tv, so if that's important you would not be happy. A delicious hot breakfast served at 9 a.m. was brought to our room each morning due to COVID restrictions. The first morning was a veggie quiche and sausages with fresh fruit and homemade biscuits. The second morning we were served a banana blueberry dutch baby with sausage and fresh fruit. Good coffee is served on the porch each morning at 8 a.m. but if you need it earlier, they will bring a pot to your room. (We didn't.) This was one of the nicest B & B's we've ever stayed at. I can't say enough good things about the Raford Inn. We will definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area. read more

A great bed and breakfast near Healdsburg in Russian River valley. It's on a hillock with beautiful views of the surrounding vineyards. The house was originally built in 1880 and substantially upgraded over the years. There were a lot of charming antique furniture in the rooms and around the inn, and everything worked well. Rita our innkeeper was very gracious and shared the history of the house and the original owner after whom the inn is named. She asked about our food preferences and allergies and tailored the breakfast accordingly. Loved our stay. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Raford. The hosts and staff were superb, the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and the setting was spectacular. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it seems a bit pricey... but maybe that's just how much it costs to spend an evening in a place as beautiful as this. Beautiful place. I wish we had booked more nights here. So inviting and personal. Hard to find anymore. They thought of everything from water in the room with crystal glasses, chocolate, umbrellas for the rain, night cap available (Brandi) near the fireplace in dinning room, to chocolate chip cookies (homemade) yum! We stayed here in early Feb of 2008. Dane and Rita (and their friendly staff) were amazing hosts. A few things that really stood out for me were: - The history of the Raford House... Dane is a wealth of information and stories. All you have to do is ask and he's more than happy to share what he knows, including photos. - Awesome views... it was so much fun to wake up in the morning, grab a cup of coffee, and sit on the porch with beautiful vineyards right before your eyes. - Our room was super cute, clean, and a refreshing reminder of a simpler way of life. Other honorable mentions... COOKIES 24/7, far from any major highways (secluded), board games/cards, organic breakfast. Dane and Rita are the warm and down-to-earth inn owners who make you feel right at home in this gorgeous B&B in Healdsburg (closer to Windsor). Hospitality: They welcome you when you arrive and chat with you in the morning and over wine hour in the evening. If you don't like to chat, then let other guests chat instead. Food: Organic natural ingredient. Day 1 breakfast: yogurt over granola, fruit, a banana/berry pastry bake plus turkey sausages. I'm not a fan of banana but it was still good. Day 2 breakfast: fruit cup, papaya, spicy frittata with chicken apple sausage and a corn muffin. They have an outdoor cat (Sonoma) that doesn't bother anyone. I have major allergies to cats but Sonoma didn't bother me at all. Rooms: We stayed in the Angelica Room and it's directly below the kitchen. You hear every footsteps in the morning starting around 7 when they prepare breakfast. Earplugs took care of the problem the second night. Gorgeous, beautiful views of vineyards right at the entrance. Quiet porch with lots of boardgames available. Ample supply of delicious cookies and treats. read more

I couldn't imagine a more romantic place to stay while on a wine tasting trip. Our room was beautiful, the setting in the middle of a vineyard was enchanting, and the perks were fantastic. When you add in the breakfast, the nightly wine and charcuterie, complimentary tasting passes to dozens of top wineries, it was actually about the same price as staying at an average motel. Just remember to take a sweater, even in July, the Russian River gets cold in the mornings (it's the fog that makes such great Pinot Noir after all) and you'll want to take in those gorgeous views from the porch, the garden, the lawns, etc. while you have your breakfast. read more

Just beautiful. My husband and I stayed in the blueberry room during our 3-day anniversary trip to Sonoma county. The Raford Inn boasts a picturesque view of a vineyard from their full front porch (aptly equipped with more patio furniture than they could ever have guests). We did find that it's pretty far (10 minutes) from downtown Healdsburg, but has a great location for driving around and visiting various wineries/vineyards. Dane and Rita were great hosts. They prepared wonderful breakfasts both mornings (Day 1: fruit/granola yogurt, stuffed french toast, turkey apple sausage and fresh fruit slices. Day 2: fresh fruit bowl, spinach/pepper quiche, chicken apple sausage), had wine and cheese available 5:30-7p every night and sat out on the porch and chatted with us until our 8:00 dinner reservation. They are both very knowledgeable about Sonoma county, never recommend a restaurant they haven't eaten at and keep a huge binder filled with menus and organized by city. The house is older, but we had hot showers every morning, everything was surprisingly NOT creaky (except the foyer floor), the grounds were lovely and Mirna keeps the place spotless. Bonus: they have a super-friendly cat named Sonoma who will keep you company out on the porch, but whose hair cannot be found anywhere inside the inn. read more

We decided to go to Sonoma last minute and were able to make a reservation at the inn. They have a great deal of 20 percent off if you reserve within 48 hours which is nice especially for those of us that live close by and might decide to travel to Sonoma last minute. We stayed in the blueberry room which is very comfortable, and had a nice wood-burning fireplace and a spacious bathroom. The staff is super friendly and helpful and did everything to make our trip special. They have a wine and cheese social in the evenings and breakfast in the morning's. The breakfast was good and I would've preferred the opportunity to choose from a few options rather than just be served what was on the menu for the day. The Raford Inn is perfectly located at the cusp of wine country - at about the mid-point between Guerneville and Healdsburg. The house has quite a history that has been documented in many books detailing the local history. I stayed in the Angelica suite during my stay and the view from my private balcony of the vineyards and swaying palm trees were incredible. It was a great way to start each morning. Dane and Rita are the owners of the Raford Inn and go above and beyond to ensure that you have a rich and memorable experience in the Healdsburg area. Just a few examples include providing suggestions and directions to local attractions and printing out a scenic route through the Sonoma wine country for me to travel home while soaking in the local character. I'd highly recommend the Raford to anybody staying in the Healdsburg area. read more

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon in 2007, and it still has the same charm and welcoming environment like going to grandmas house. It sits on a beautiful, scenic hill overlooking vineyards-exactly what you would picture for a b&b in Sonoma. All of the staff are very inviting, helpful and genuinely warm and pleasant, free wifi, free gourmet breakfast every morning, free snacks thorough out the day and every evening between 5:30-7 they offer complimentary wine and cheese and crackers!!! We had an excellent experience staying at the Raford Inn. What makes this place stand out is it's location on a private hill overlooking vineyards. The front porch is a great place to enjoy the complimentary wine in the evenings while watching the sunset. While in most Inns complimentary wine consists of one bottle for all the guests, bottles kept coming out. Also, the cheese spread had great variety and everything was delicious. The rooms have good amenities (we stayed in the blueberry room - keep in mind that this room is right by the front door/entrance). A bottle of fresh water and two chocolates await your arrival. Bathrooms include robes, toiletries, and even make-up removing wipes!!! Mornings include an amazing breakfast that changes daily. The morning that we had breakfast there included fresh squeezed orange juice, amazing coffee, a quiche type of dish, sausage, fresh fruit, and a freshly baked scone. Everything was super fresh and yummy. Although I had no room left after breakfast, a fresh batch of oatmeal raisin cookies found there way into my hands. Rita and Dane can give you excellent recommendations on dining as well as which wineries to visit. One note - this is a none smoking property. read more

It was spacious with a private front porch and entrance, while still being attached and connected to the main house. Dane, Rita, Jennifer and Mathew do an excellent job in keeping this place neat and tidy. Our meals were fantastic and the cocktail hour plentiful. We stayed here on our wedding night in July. We stayed in the Strawberry room. The room was gorgeous, very clean and so cute! We were welcomed with the lights on (we arrived pretty late) and a special treat and bottle of champagne was waiting in the room to congratulate the newlyweds! For starters, Dane, Rita and Melia were really nice and extremely helpful. In addition to cooking a wonderful breakfast each morning, they were available to answer all of our questions regarding wineries, local activities, restaurant suggestions, etc. We stayed in the Rosemary room and loved it. Room was private, clean and well decorated. Upon departure, Dane will give a tour of the property, which includes a tour of his vineyard, his explanation of how wine is made, and even small samples of both barreled and bottled wine. It was very informative and a great, personal way to learn about wine-making. I definitely recommend staying at The Raford Inn. read more

This is a super belated review - We stayed there August 2013. We are military and wanted one last go in Northern Cali before our move East. We stayed here a few nights. It was perfect - the food, the talk, the view, the hospitality. We were the younger of the couples (we are in our late 20's) by perhaps 30 years that weekend but it was just fine. We've stayed at many B&B's and this is near the top. We were here for 5 nights and stayed in the Rosemary room. A nice sized room on the back of the house. Private entrance. The hospitality of Rita and Dane, the owners, is far above many. They welcome you into their home from the moment you get to the front door. The "wine happy hour" is a great touch. Local wine's and some nice cheese's along with talk of what happened in our day and what we may look forward to the next. Their location to both Russian River and Dry Creek Valley's is perfect. That along with the redwoods right down the road...what more could you ask for? Kristin their inn keeper makes the most healthy creative breakfasts; large portions. No need for lunch! read more

What a great find. Wife any myself stayed for 2 days and it couldn't have been any better. Out of the way beautiful scenery. Excellent breakfast, informative hosts, Dane shared with us his Zin which has won several silver medals at competitions. Rita had some great tips on where to go for dinner. put some cheese and crackers along with some wine out every day. A big bowl of jelly beans which I had to restrain from eating all of them as it is one of my weakness. We stayed in the rosemary room and it was perfect for what we needed. The rooms are a bit bigger than what they appear on their website I think. They have free wifi, a computer if you need it, and a central TV. but who needs to watch TV when you have great views like they do. It is just down the road from the Farmhouse restaurant (a great place to eat). Probably about 10 minutes from the highway or take the back roads to the wineries and enjoy the view. Either way you can't lose. If you are looking for a place around Healdsburg for the price it can't be beat. read more

Inn guests are well-traveled, interesting, interested conversationalists with whom we trade stories. We stayed on Monday and Tuesday evenings in the Strawberry Room, whose walls are aptly covered in strawberry wallpaper. During the day we visited a winery and took a long hike at Armstrong Redwoods Park. When we forgot an item at breakfast time, they took the time to phone us and then kindly posted it to our home. read more

This is a perfect bed and breakfast - warm staff, nice accommodations, and delicious breakfasts! When I stay in a b & b, which isn't often, my top priority is to have big, decadent breakfasts, because I never get to do that at home or even at a normal hotel. Their food was made with love, and there was WAY too much delicious food to eat. The Inn looks over beautiful vineyards, including a small, private vineyard where the owner grows his own grapes. He is very proud (rightly so!) of his wine, and will take anyone interested on a little tour, where he teaches you about wine prep and shows you how he works his magic. They have wine and snacks every evening, and can provide free tasting tickets to some of the local wineries. All and all, a great experience! read more

The breakfasts were excellent, and we really enjoyed the wine and cheese service while taking in the gorgeous views in the evenings. Dane and Rita were excellent hosts and really made us feel welcome. The staff was very friendly and took great care of us. One of the evenings they recommended a place for dinner and called ahead for us to make sure we would be taken care of. On the last morning we took Dane's tour of the vineyard and did a barrel tasting of his wine. We will be staying there again next time we visit wine country! read more

Made a reservation on 3/9 for the evening of 4/3. Had to cancel the reservation on 3/11 only to find there was a $25 cancellation fee despite the large lead time. They charged my credit card $228 in total on 3/9. Shame on me for not noticing their unreasonable policy as the Inn suffered no loss and had notice of nearly a month. I would not recommend this facility based upon their financial policies. read more
