Francisco showed up early on the day that they were supposed to give me a quote. My before pictures dont do the work they had to do justice cause the back and side yard was covered with weeds that were at least 4ft tall, some spare wood parts, and dog poop everywhere cause we lost track of where to pick up their poop cause of all of the weeds. They were able to do the cleanup in just a day! It was so amazing to watch our back and sideyard transform so quickly right before our eyes. They also found that the gutter drain from our roof was just draining out into our sideyard in an area with no drain. We had no idea! And i was so grateful that Francisco and Jorge wanted to do right by us and make sure that we didnt have any problems down the road. The team dug a trench for the drain all the way to the street under our existing stamp concrete without damaging it. I was blown away with how fast and efficient they were able to do this. We also had an old well that we weren't using and an old pump we acquired from the prior owners of the home. We wanted to use the well water but didnt know how. Francisco and his team found the problem and fixed it for us. I know this was a challenge for them but they would stay a little later sometimes so they can fix it for us and make the deadline i gave them. They even worked on a Saturday to get the work done. They got it done and beautiful in just 6 days and even used our well water as the source for watering all our plants and lawn. There were days he would even mow our front lawn for us and trim my existing plants so that it would all look nice. Plus Francisco was so easy to work with, pleasant and great to talk to as well. they sent us an itemized invoice too for all of the work so we could easily keep track of the work that was done. All in all they did a Fantastic job! If i could give them 10 stars i would. I highly recommend Green Walnut! They are fast, efficient and thorough and they do a really excellent job!

Juan install new sprinklers and sod in our small 550 sf front yard on 4/26/2021. Juan had his guys…read morehere on a Saturday and tore out the lawn. After about a week the new sod was in. The sod looked very good over-all, but some of the edges having gaps between the rolls. I added lawn soil and seed and the lawn looked good until about 4 months ago. Mind you that was only 8 months after it was installed. Areas on the right side near or hedges stated to die. I tried seeding it with various types of seed with no luck - nothing would grow. Let me state clearly, I know how to prep and plant sod as I worked at a golf course and had the best 3000 sf Kentucky Bluegrass front lawn (that I prepped, put in the sprinkler system, put on top soil and rolled the sod) in my neighborhood for over 34 years. I texted Juan over a month ago, on March 8, 2022 and asked him to come by to take a look and see if we could understand what was wrong with the sod in the one area. I in fact, asked him in two messages to PLEASE come by and take a look. His reply was "it's the same area that you have always had problems with - there is nothing I can do. I did everything right, the soil, prep, irrigation is got a good coverage - probably is not getting enough sun - not much I can di about that." That was the WRONG reply. I paid $3200.00 to him on April 26, 2021 to replace the existing sprinklers and sod in the house that I had purchased as I was told that he was the best guy around. Well guess what? Juan put on the wrong sod for the exposure! We needed a shade tolerate blend and he used the wrong sod blend. Juan Rios is a lic'd contractor in the State Of Califirnia and he has an obligation to stand behind his work and to know what sod will grow here in Danville and especially here in Blackhawk. (He in fact saw the old sod and that it was NOT growing in this area before he started the job and had every opportunuty to obtain the correct sod.) After I stated (and not threateed) that I would go to the Calif. Contractor's Lic board and Contra Costa County small claims court, Juan called he and in a VERY defensive tone and told he that he did not like to get threatened and stated that he would remove the sod, put a layer of top soil and lay the new sod. He also stated immediately after the call, that he wanted to "put this all behind us and that he would replace the sod with the kind I tell him in and will consider it done." Gee, that was a quick reply from a guy that had said there was nothing he could do. After a couple of emails, I specified the sod type and I offered to pay for the it if he would just install it. Juan stated that he would pay for the new sod and install it and wanted no further issues. He also stated that I was to pick the type of new sod - which I did. I specified Shade Blend Grass from Sod and Seed. Juan stated that he didn't know when he'd do what he now promised but that it would be at least two weeks out if not more! Well, 6 weeks have passed and we are now on the 7th week with no futher calls or texts from Juan concerning the installation schedule. Over the past month, I have babied the lawn. It has been over seeded, fertilized, and watered. With a lot if work on my part it is growing well EXCEPT the spots that I originally asked Juan to check out are still bare. Today, 4/26/22 I texted Juan that rather than have him tear everything out, I offered that if woud just bring me one fresh roll of the correct sod that I would install it myself. That text was set at 9:51am and at 9:36pm I've received no reply. It's sad, Jwhat could have been something that he as well as I the customer could have been proud of (a beautiful green plush lawn that he installed and I maintain) has gotten to be a less than enjoyable experience. Do I want an enemy or to post a poor review? NO! But when I pay someone for a service I expect them to do the right thing and come by when requested to take a look. I don't expect a defensive response to problem before it's even looked at, or a response that he did't everything right and frankly it is my problem. In this State, there are courses of action regarding contractor law and consumers rights and when I a wronged I excerise them including posting this review. I'll be certain to update this review if anything changes.

After three years of living with a backyard full of weeds and gopher holes, we finally decided to…read moregive up the hope of running into the "Yard Crashers" crew at our local home improvement store. We interviewed nearly ten potential landscape contractors for our backyard project. Segundo Collazos, the owner of Amazon's Landscaping, was recommended by a good friend who had hired Segundo and his crew to install irrigation and a flagstone pathway. When Segundo came out to discuss our project, he demonstrated that he has the benefit of many years of construction experience, doing both small and large projects. Our project was a moderately large residential project which involved extensive re-grading of the yard, installation of a French drain alongside the back of the house, construction of a retaining wall along a steep slope, installation and compaction of patio surfaces made of a mix of decomposed granite mixed with mortar, construction of a pergola, extensive irrigation installation, and replacement of a dead patch of lawn. Segundo showed us pictures of work he has done for private homes and for public areas such as some schools in Berkeley. The pictures showed a good attention to detail and his prices were competitive, plus we both had a good feeling about his level of professionalism, so we hired him. We have been very pleased with our decision to hire him for the following reasons... 1) He and his crew take pride in their work. Throughout the duration of the work, they did not take shortcuts. They included all materials and finishes that were agreed upon when we negotiated the work to be done. The quality of their work is very good. 2) When there was a need to make modifications, Segundo showed an ability to think creatively given our budget. For example, we have very high winds and the decomposed granite (DG) he put down as a patio surface was not staying in place initially. As a relatively loose material, it was also attaching to our shoes and tracking into the house, which would have been an annoying issue to deal with over the long term. For a minimal amount of additional expense, Segundo resolved the problem by digging up the patio again, mixing the DG with mortar, and re-compacting it. 3) It is often true that things take somewhat longer than expected with construction projects. In this case, there were two things that required some additional work. The first was the problem with the decomposed granite (DG) being too loose given the strong winds where we live. The second was the presence of large tree roots that were uncovered as he was re-grading the backyard. (We had paid a lot of money to two different tree and root removal companies in the past to remove all the roots from a big tree that used to be in the yard, and clearly in both cases, despite assurances that they had each removed all the roots within one foot of the surface, they did not do the job right). Segundo never complained about having to put in additional work - he showed professionalism and commitment to working on both issues until the problems were resolved. He removed the tree roots that needed to come out to get the surfaces level and he made the patio surface much stronger by mixing the DG with mortar. 4) Segundo has an extensive understanding of various plants and he actually cultivates many beautiful plants such as queen palms, sago palms, a variety of aromatic shrubs, and Japanese maples in his own backyard. He made good recommendations about plants that could work well for our space. He was flexible and took into account our preferences and needs in doing the initial planting of parts of the yard and generously included a gift of three of his own plants that we liked. He installed drip lines to each and every plant and tree that he put in the ground so that they will grow well when set to be watered by an automatic sprinkler timer. 5) Despite some additional challenges that came up during the course of the project, in the end, Segundo came in reasonably close to the budget we agreed to in advance and he guarantees the quality of his work. We do not expect problems in the future given his commitment to doing things the right way the first time, but we know that if there are problems, he will address them. This is the longest review I've submitted to Yelp and in the spirit of letting others know about the best companies to hire, I was inspired to relay information about this consistently positive experience with Segundo Collazos of Amazon's Landscaping. We are also attaching some pictures of the work he did because a picture is worth a thousand words. During a time when many contractors take shortcuts or fail to honor one's budget, he is a real find.
