The owner and a Japanese hair stylist (called Aya) were able to schedule an appointment accommodating the time for me on the day I called (today). They were awesome! The hair studio has a great location (I personally think), because it is just next to Joyce Skytrain Station. Even if I drove, I could find street parking easily. After I stepped into the hair studio, the owner and Aya greeted me. They were very polite and took a good care of me (and all other customers). They placed my purse carefully and locked into a storage. Aya washed my hair carefully and checked with me about the temperature of the water and if I felt comfortable. She put time and effort to cut my hair and made sure if that was the length that I wanted on my hair (unlike some hair stylists kept cutting the hair even though I asked to trim a little bit). After cutting the hair, Aya put a little bit of treatment lotion(?), blew dry my hair and even curled a little bit at the bottom of my hair to make the whole style look perfect. Their pricing was reasonable and service was great! They deserved 5 stars! I would come back for the hair cut next time.

But at Haides, I felt totally comfortable from the moment I went in. Downstairs is the barbershop and you kind of have to go out and around to the salon. I wasn't sure so I walked into the barbershop first and someone escorted me up to the salon. The whole environment they create is very welcoming and chill. I can't express that enough. There's been so many times I've walked into a different salon and felt like either nobody is paying attention or you're "just another number." At Haides they really make you just feel so comfortable. Also love that they're right in Surrey. It'll be so nice to have somewhere to get my hair done that's so much closer as opposed to going all the way out to Vancouver somewhere. Location might be a bit tough to get to if you don't pay attention like me. But there's ample amount of parking. They don't take walk ins. Angelica was very knowledgeable about the products she was using and she told me all about which products to use to take care of my hair. She was very sweet and nice, she would always tell me what she was doing to my hair during the process which I loved because sometimes stylists don't do that. Angelica was also a fun person to talk to, which was a plus for me because she did my hair for 8 hours long and I totally love her vibe! Overall, I highly recommend to get your hair done my Angelica she's literally an artist and I am very happy with how my hair turned out. My first appt was actually terrible. The end result was fine, but the fact that a cut, color and highlights lasted over 6 hours was a nightmare (I wasnt asking for anything crazy, nor was my hair very long). After that first appointment, I actually didn't go back for a while until I couldnt get in to my other salon. I mainly come here for the convenience, as I live within walking distance. The salon itself is always nice and clean. As mentioned my other reviewers, it's a Korean salon with a largely Korean clientele. You are given what is similar to a breastfeeding pillow to put in your lap, and offered water, coffee or tea plus a couple pieces of chocolate. My other issue is that the hair washing station tends to have water that runs on the cooler side (and that not all stylists give a scalp massage either, which is my favorite part of getting my hair done!) The price is a little on the higher end. I paid $285 for a cut and all over color for shoulder length hair. (Still haven't had the guts to try highlights again). Free street parking available, if not right on Kingsway, you'll be able to find a spot on the side streets, otherwise the bus stop for the 19 is right outside.
