I've been going to rc headquarters since I was a kid and now I take my kids there and enjoy seeing the excitement it brings them. There isn't a more knowledgeable staff at any rc store in san antonio hands down. The selection of rc vehicles covers all types from planes, to boats, to cars, helicopters, drones, off-road trucks to crawlers. Best selection available in my opinion. Well, we wanted to patron this place, even bought an RC from them. But, they don't update their website calendar, so it's a crap-shoot on the weekends if you can free run or not. Today my son and I wasted 2 hours of drive time from Austin and back because RCHQ didn't take the time to list a huge mini-z event on their website calendar. Event calendars are useless unless they are updated. Lesson, call first or just don't go... we won't be going again. Also, they now cater ONLY to Mini-z racers on the weekend, which means you won't be able to run your mini-b or mini-t RCs like you use to (except on bad off days like Monday and Tuesday which is BS). They also sell rock crawlers and bashers, but no real support or place to practice or run them etc. So you are better off buying online for those types of RCs as you'll get better deals. Also, next to no crawler or basher parts, even for the RCs they sell. We'll just buy our Arrma Kraton parts online and not waste our time at RCHQ. We were there to run our mini-b and buy new tires, LiPo battery, and telemetry sensor for jumps. Now we'll just buy those online. My son was so disappointed when we got there that he didn't want to watch the mini-z competition or buy anything from them. He said 'f-this place!' which was my exact sentiment. Lastly, the bald guy behind the counter disparaged the very same RC we bought from that store. They had no problem selling us the Mini-b... but then diss it when we brought it back in-store. Not the best idea to retain customers or sell upgrades. If I ran my business like this, I'd be out of business. Rolling Oaks Mall is practically a dead-mall at this point, so I'm expecting the niche products, poor offering, bad location, and rudeness (pretentiousness) will end this store soon. We were willing to drive out-of-our-way to spend our money at their store, but now we are not. I'd suspect my overall advice on this is just not to bother. Buy online, make your own track or use a parking lot, and just don't waste your time. No value in their current offering and mode. read more

Let me start by saying that as a LONG time customer, I want the best for this business and everybody that works within it! But as an experienced service advisor, I am shocked every time I drop my truck off for repairs/service because I never get a call or text with recommendations. Over the last few years, I've had my truck in for service many times, and have every intent to pay these guys to fix it up to the fullest extent. But during every visit it's the same thing, the truck sits there for months with no communication along the way, and no findings or recommendations... or notification when the truck is ready.... There have been a couple of instances where the truck was repaired without my approval and I ended up having to just pay for $100+ dollar repair fees even though I wasn't including the decision-making. I would've approved this stuff and paid for it anyway but it's just weird how these guys go about servicing the trucks. I would like to see you guys need to make an effort to do some kind of multipoint inspection and then take that with a list of recommendations to the customer so that you guys can make some money and we can go home with a properly fixed up truck and good experience. read more

We've purchased one vehicle from here and have had a couple of repairs done on others. I brought a 20+ year car out of storage in a few times to get it going again. I'm just looking for some extra entertainment during Covid, not trying to dive into another hobby. The guys at this place are friendly and helpful. I had decided to get a brushless set up for my old buggy and rather than sell me a more expensive set than I actually need the guys directed me to an inexpensive fit that I got on Amazon. These guys aren't just about making a buck off of you. They are enthusiastic about the hobby and it shows in their customer service. This is the perfect store to get all your hobby grade Planes, Cars, and more. Perfect to get all your parts and more. The only problem is the shops a bit small. But it gets the job done. FIRST VISIT: Bought a Hyperion Naze32 flight controller for my new drone there and the guys were very helpful and nice about it. First problem with the bad reviews: that guy from Los Angeles, CA probably needs to pack his shit up and go back to California where he came from. Why would you blame the store workers for some patron who's an asshole? If some mexican guy treated me that way I would just tell him to fuck off and mind his own business unless he wanted to get punched in the face. Bottom line: Staff was very nice to me when I went in there, and gave me useful information on the Naze32 flight controller. I will be going back for more business. SECOND VISIT: Went back again on a Saturday and the store guys could not have been nicer to me. I bought a "Dromida Vista UAV" for my brother (which has turned out to be a VERY nice drone after one test flight) and a Flynoceros carbon fiber frame for my new FPV copter. Their prices are the same as Amazon so they're competitive enough for me to buy local. Even when the store was full of people these guys hustle to help everyone. read more

Tell them what you're looking for and they'll help you choose the right "toy" for your hobby and help ensure you don't "bite off more than you can chew" I've always wanted to fly RC planes & helicopters and they helped me choose the proper trainer to get started. read more

This was my first time in a store like this I was looking to get into this hobby so I just went in to take a look. The gentleman who asked if I needed help was very nice and knowledgeable, he had great recommendations and reviews on what I was looking for without blowing my budget. I ended up walking out with my first RC truck and I love it, he even took me outside and gave me pointers that were very helpful on how to use it. I will definitely be back. The track is nice, that is about the only thing nice I would say about this place. I have been a few times. The place is painfully small with next to no parking. The employees always seemed VERY aggressive in their opinions. I tried talking to a couple of the staff members about things like battery options and parts and when ever I asked about something they didn't suggest I felt like I was in high school and was being told off by a Xbox fan boy for liking the playstation. I ONLY shop here if I need to replace a part and do not wish to wait to have it shipped. The only reason for the two stars is due to it being the only good track in town. read more
