I have been to a few other dermatology locations and dealt with other dermatologists in the past - none of them helped with getting my rashes and acne taken care of. However, I found Metropolis Dermatology a few years ago and as soon as my first appointment ended I knew that this place was going to be very helpful. The facility is clean, the receptionists are kind, and the dermatologist know what they are talking about. For me specifically, Dr. Janice Ma has been amazing. She is so kind, talented, knowledgeable and most of all caring. She helped me with all my skin and rash issues so well. My skin is clearer than ever and I couldn't be happier! She did so well that I recommended her to a colleague of mine and my colleague said the exact same thing - she is the best! Can't recommend this place (and all their knowledgeable dermatologists) enough!

I asked my primary doctor about the same medication and only paid around $10 for the exact same prescription. I later received multiple messages from Metropolitan dermatology, claiming that I owed a balance for Botox and fillers. A service which I never requested or received. It has now been three years later, I have never gone back and yet the business is still claiming that I have an outstanding balance for an alleged filler appointment. It should also be noted that the company failed to provide me with an itemized receipt or proof of service. Although the doctor was friendly upon my visit, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere due to the inflamed prices and lack of proper communication and documentation.

Genuinely, it felt like greeting a family member when interacting with him and I wholeheartedly recommend this office for anything derm related. The staff experience was also incredible. They are polite, diligent, and straightforward. Requiring a referral seemed reasonable, so I went ahead and got one from my school. Later on, I called the clinic to schedule an appointment and asked again if my student insurance can be taken now that I have a referral. It seems that the same lady I talked to on my first visit answered the phone and confirmed that they will. Today, I came into the clinic and gave the front desk my student insurance and referral letter. The same lady told me that they will not take my PPO student insurance despite having a referral letter. This is extremely unprofessional and I wasted my time throughout the entire process of going to the clinic twice and obtaining a referral. I did not get her name but the lady I have been talking to with blonde hair and glasses should be re-evaluated.

There was no clear treatment recommendation tied to my condition. Dupixent was discussed and the reason given focused on samples being available immediately, not on medical appropriateness. The provider then stepped out to ask another doctor if it was eczema and came back. Regarding phototherapy, I was told there is a 75 deposit before each session and if insurance doesn't pay, the deposit is kept. That was not provided in writing. Instead of the clinical team addressing medical necessity requirements and handling the insurer process, the provider had no input and deferred.

After a few minutes, a nurse called me in, took my information, and told me to wait for the dermatology practitioner. The practitioner, Jason, came in and I showed him the skin problem on my back. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the visit. He briefly looked at the rash, told me to come back next month for a skin biopsy, and said they would send the sample to a lab. The whole appointment lasted only a few minutes, and I left without a clear explanation of what caused the rash or what I could do in the meantime. Overall, the experience felt rushed and not very professional. I expected a more thorough examination and better communication about my condition and next steps.

Derms often pick a lane (cosmetic or melanomas) but Dr. Gaspard swims gloriously through both while looking indeterminate age... My first appointment with Dr. Gaspard was as such: she sliced a potentially cancerous mole from my labia without blinking (maybe due to some botox) and then told me all about her trip to Seoul to study all things salmon sperm facials... Her passion and warmth comes through every time I see her--pants on or off. I immediately wanted to be her friend, but I'm working on boundaries with my therapist. On my way out minus one mole, I noticed a poster on the wall for her premiere membership program: AND.MY.HEART.STOPPED. Dr. Gaspard offers the most reasonably priced membership style way to try out all kinds of fancy skin treatments (lasers, peels, microneedling) on a monthly basis. You can select from all the hottest procedures for $350 a month. That is UNHEARD OF in LA . I asked Dr. Gaspard why she was electing to do this for her patients, i.e. make this affordable, and, she said simply that maintaining your skin should be far more accessible than it currently is--it should be within reach. (Not like designwithinreach where it's actually all insanely expensive and the fact that they call it designwithinreach is just cruel). This is actually in reach. She's basically Santa Claus in a white coat and her team, especially Gina, is great. Now, I come here once a month to try a new treatment for less than an Equinox membership and zero commute. ALSO YOU GET A DISCOUNT ON PRODUCTS. I didn't have cancer on my labia, but I bet you forgot about that being so blinded by what Dr. Gaspard has to offer. But, then, if you do have a weird mole, she's got you there too. FAN FOR LIFE

As it would have been a longer wait to see Dr Gaspard, we scheduled with a PA, Alyviah. She is fabulous, performing the best body check we have ever had. When I got home, I had a couple of questions such as when we should return. The phone receptionist, Emily, with kindness and compassion, said she would check with Alyviah. An hour later she phoned and said Alyviah said we can wait a year..She then offered to schedule our 2027 appointment. She is charming and obviously super intelligent and it was a joy to speak with her.
