We had an 8:30 pm reservation on Christmas Day and the restaurant was fairly quiet (about 6 tables…read moretotal), so we didn't expect delays--but service was unfortunately very slow. It took about 15 minutes to receive menus. We were given a dish of assorted salsas right away, but no bread or chips. When a server later checked in and realized our order hadn't been taken, we asked for bread, but it never arrived. Even still water took around 15 minutes to reach the table. We almost left, but decided to stay and try the food. We ordered the parrillada for two and requested the steak medium rare. Sadly, the steak came out overcooked and extremely salty. The grilled vegetables were also overly salty and tasted like burnt grease, making them difficult to eat. Between the slow service and heavy seasoning, this experience missed the mark for us. The salt level was so intense that my lips were literally hurting afterward. Sadly, this isn't a spot we'd return to or recommend.

I'm not a fanboy of French food as I think it can be a bit heavy at times, but boy oh boy was this place great! The salmon was perfectly cooked( with a slightly raw interior, served on some of the best roasted vegetables you can imagine. Around it was a delicious sesame ribbon breadstick, absolutely amazing. They also gave us some complementary rose and a shot of lentil consomme, all excellent. The prices were elevated a bit, most diners arrived in jackets, so it if definitely a higher end joint, but it is probably one of the few French themed places I will seek out again. And if you like French fare in the slightest, or even if you are slightly against it, it is definitely worth a try. Oh and since it's a French place I should also mention the bread was served as petite almost crossaint shaped rolls with the balance of a crispy, toasted crust and a perfectly leavened yet glutinous and porous pliable interior. It was so good we saved it for dessert and it was a fantastic finish. Happy eating from John Seeto!

Believe it or not, it's not as easy to find bread and butter at some restaurants in Mexico City. I guess you have to know exactly where to look. The spaghetti carbonara I ordered last night was awful, with the little bits of meat burned quite literally to a crisp. I probably should have sent it back. The original waiters in the past were so nice and friendly. And the prices are now much higher than I remembered. Luigi, where are you? Don't make me go to the Osteria around the corner.

The majority of Italian restaurants are located in a different colonia outside of Centro Historico. I thought that the service was fairly adequate, and it was pretty tylical from my experiences in the city. I ordered the simple spaghetti bolognesa which is one of my trusted Italiam dishes. This did take a little time for them to orelare, and the reataurant wasn't that busy, but when they did bring it to my table, I was more than dying of hunger. I thought it tasted pretty good, however the bolognesa sauce was somewhat watery. Still the sauce was exceptional in my opinion. Everything else about the reataurant was great and the inside was modern and clean.
