Since you did comment on my review and I am unable to respond, I will respond here. What do you call a competitive price for a tune? What do you charge for these so called first time tunes? Have you called around to see what others are charging? I guarantee you that you are charging way more, by a huge margin. I love how in your response comment you completely failed to mention that you are renting out SPINET pianos. Pianos that according to all, should be retired and given away for free. Is a young musical student going to learn the right feel of a piano by playing such an obtuse instrument like a spinet? You have shown your true colors Mr Radfords Next in line, you responded that your inspections are tax deductible and Insurance worthy. Wow you have all the answers. Do you truly believe the majority of people need their piano inspection to be tax deductible or insurance worthy? I just want to know if the piano I found online is a good buy for me. Tell me yes or no, plain and simple. The tech I did hire went with me to a VERY large piano store in the suburbs, and while he didn't like the piano I initially had chosen, he quickly inspected 5 others and FOUND an amazing one. If I had hired you, you would have sat there for an hour and written your "report" and insurance worthy appraisal on the first piano, and wouldn't have seen any others. Am I correct? I would need to hire you AGAIN for a second and third and fourth "inspection". How do I know about this you ask? Because I met another person that mentioned this about you. In my opinion other tuners/tech give a ton more value than Radfords. Do yourself a favor and look through the sneaky advertising, marketing . We are a family of serious musicians and our piano, in particular, is very loved. It was a splurge early on in our marriage and rarely goes a day without being played and enjoyed. We met Carl over 20 years ago, hired him, and have never looked elsewhere. He is full of knowledge about a variety of tuning techniques and types of tunings (there are surprisingly many different ways to tune a piano.) He is truly an expert in his field. Any musician seeking a top-shelf technician who has the full expertise to keep their instrument in the best shape will do well to have Carl care for their piano. We cannot recommend him highly enough. And best part? When he is finished tuning your piano, he'll give you a mini-concert while he confirms all is as it should be. I've been a professional musician for the last 45 years and Carl always impresses me with his knowledge and ability to make my piano the best it can possibly be. Carl has been our family's piano tuner for years. He does a fabulous job every time! If you are a music theory/history/science geek, you can also go to his web site for a thorough explanation of the art and science of tuning. He tunes to A435 for me, but he also fudges a little depending on the season and what the upcoming changes in humidity will be. The first time Carl tuned my Kimball upright piano, he actually tuned it up and down twice through, at no extra charge. It needed it, too, as it was way out of whack going from a storefront to a dry apartment. If you are looking for a quick, cheap tuning, Carl is not for you. He is very thorough, and while you can get a tuning for fewer $$, you won't get nearly the value. As an added bonus, Carl is an incredible pianist in his own right, and he will play for a few minutes at the end of the tuning! read more

Been renting a fantastic Petrof upright from Carl for about a year now, which he was able to find for me after just a description of the type and feel. Need tuning? He'll do a great job, and quick. Used Carl to repair a clients piano. Her keys needed to be realigned. I called him, we scheduled an appointment for him to do an inspection. It was done by the end of the week. I had my piano tuned by Carl a few years back. The tuning sounded great and I would love to give more stars, but after this tuning the middle pedal made a loud banging sound whenever activated. I finally had it retuned by a different provider and the problem is now fixed. In retrospect I should have brought it up when I noticed it, I'm sure Carl would have fixed it. But ideally it wouldn't have happened in the first place. read more
