I've recommended at least one friend to get married here (and they are) and as far as event spaces go this one is damn fine with a max capacity of about 200 people. Mutli room all with beautiful wood floors, dark leather couches, dim lighting, brick walls. Wow. Definitely Prague in the 1940's. Definitely one of the hipper locations I've been in Hoboken. The cocktail list is extensive and is of the "mixologist" type. They are pricey $11-$13 or so but, that's how much fancy cocktails cost these days. Womp womp. I really can't talk about ambiance on a regular night since I've never been but for an event space, this place is truly dark, romantic and a super cool spot in Hoboken definitely a must stop and see when planning a special event, wedding, bday, fundraiser. (I have no clue on pricing/rental so good luck).

There was only one other family dining, and the space stayed empty the entire time. The service was genuinely great. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and a really cute, cozy space. I especially loved the Christmas décor and overall vibe--it felt warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the prices. The house salad was $13 and honestly one of the most basic, smallest, and most boring salads I've ever had--very underwhelming for the cost. We also ordered quesadillas, a cheeseburger with fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. My son enjoyed the burger and fries, and the quesadillas were flavorful, generously filled with chicken and veggies, and came with sour cream, pico, and guac. The tomato soup was tasty, while the grilled cheese was just okay. One small but appreciated detail: canned soda. Cold, crisp, and not flat which is always a win. Lunch for 3 came in just under $100, which felt high given what we received. One frustration was being seated in a tight corner right next to the kitchen even though the dining room was completely empty. We were so close I could literally see into the kitchen and count items on the shelves. On top of that, the hostess repeatedly walked by calling out "corner," which became distracting and honestly a bit irritating. Overall, I liked the vibe, but the food-to-price ratio missed the mark for me. It wasn't bad--just alright.

There is also a dedicated bar and bartenders, which made things very efficient. For our event, the space was completely open, though there are tables and chairs available if preferred. The room is mostly wood, so it can be a bit loud since there is not much to absorb sound, but overall it worked very well for a large group. I had not been to Brass Monkey in over a decade and was pleasantly surprised that the prices had barely gone up. Beer and cider were $8, and cocktails were $11. The rest of the bar has plenty of space, including an outdoor patio in the warmer months, and the bar food is good. I have also watched World Cup matches here before, which are always fun and energetic. I would definitely recommend Brass Monkey for group happy hours as well as for watching sports.

We got there shortly after they opened (4 pm), so it wasn't busy. On your way to the rooftop you'll pass through a nightclub, which reminded me of a discotheque reminiscent of Studio 54. I would have absolutely been a regular here back in the day. The Rooftop is spacious with plenty of places to chill & relax. I ordered a Cucumber Limonade $16 (Vodka, Cucumber, Lime, & Elderflower). It was crisp & refreshing. Perfect for this beautiful sunny day. My friend was right. The view was stunning - with sweeping views of the city and the harbor. It was so nice to be so high up above the bustling city without a care in the world.

One person in our group may have seemed a little off, and because of that, the staff refused to serve any of us alcohol. We get that they have policies to follow, but it felt a bit unfair to penalize the entire group--especially since the rest of us weren't drinking or acting out of line. To make things more confusing, they came back later and said we could order alcohol after all, but by that point, the mood was already off and we decided to leave. The place didn't seem bad overall, but that experience definitely left a sour taste. Maybe we just caught them on a weird night. Wouldn't recommend especially being in the wine country.

My friend had gone the evening before and it would have helped if they told me it was a part of the massive Chelsea Market because I didn't know that and after a far too long train ride to get to the place I walked in and headed downstairs which is where the club is located. Visually the long bar is to your right when you get through the doors and the soundboard tech is to the left. In the back left are the restrooms for men and women and a communal sink to wash up. I didn't notice any gender neutral restrooms. There is also a small space there which the band was using as a merchandise area. Spatially speaking the club is what one would consider intimate in size. The stage up front had some simple dividers between the artist and the fans but no real barricade and since I was planning on doing some photography can say that there was no photo pit to stand in for a few numbers as is the standard. There are some couches on either side of the stage area and since I imagine other kinds of events happen here this might be more of a VIP section. That was not the case tonight but I saw some room and ensconced myself to it. It was too difficult to navigate to the front or stand behind the taller fans. Since I didn't order any drinks as I've been doing a bit of a sober break I cannot speak to the prices but they sure did have a stockpile of pretty much everything that I could see. It's NYC so it is likely going to be only so cheap and since the tickets for the event were about $80 I don't think you're getting a drink for five bucks. Someone asked me if this was the old Highline Ballroom and it is not I am afraid and as a matter of fact that space was empty the last time I passed through the area a couple of months ago. A shame since that was a good club and brought many artists to town. The size of the CMH seems to be just a wee bit smaller than the old Studio at Webster Hall space which was also located downstairs in that venue. Another good spot that was put to pasture. There was a WiFi to use but a staff person entered it for me which was nice but I did see a public feed as well. I will come back here again depending on the artist that decides to play here but who knows when that will happen. I will for sure be keeping a look out on their calendar and add any topical events of interest to my websites calendar. I've got to close with seeing a few negative comments about staff and can say that everyone I encountered during the show was friendly and helpful. I go to a lot of venues so I don't need to be false about this stuff.
