Lauren was warm and welcoming! I got the vibe that she is inclusive to all types of people and that's a must for me. She took the time to really understand where I want to go with my curl as far as how I want to develop them and what my hair goals are. I'm a beginner in this journey and the support was EXCELLENT! After getting a game plan going I got a curly cut and she taught me how to style. She even sent me a text with the products she used on me and video tutorials of each step so my next wash day is going to be great. Lol I so appreciated this! I spent several thousand dollars on a mesh integration/topper and extensions after relying entirely on professional guidance. The system was installed incorrectly, and once the initial styling settled, the placement issues were clear. I returned in person specifically to have the installation corrected. Instead of fixing the issues, I was told I would need to wait approximately 8 weeks until my next scheduled visit for a reinstall. For a service of this complexity and cost, being asked to live with an improperly installed system for weeks is unacceptable. The topper color also failed quickly. Within about three weeks, it faded back toward a lighter/blonde tone and no longer matched my brown hair. This is an integrated system worn with natural hair, and color compatibility is a basic functional requirement. I was sold this based on color and texture pattern matching, which was not represented honestly or transparently, as the hair is heavily pre-processed and does not hold color that is dyed at the salon. There were also billing transparency issues. I later discovered--only after requesting an itemized receipt--that I had been charged for extension hair that was never installed or physically provided to me. Despite raising this issue, I was never refunded for the incorrect billing. Overall, this experience showed a lack of technical expertise, inadequate quality control, and poor transparency for a service that requires precision and experience. If you are considering a mesh integration or similar system, I strongly recommend seeking out a salon in a major hub (such as Chicago) with extensive, specialized experience in these systems. This is not a service that should be handled without proven expertise. Do not get mesh integration at this salon.

My copper red hair looks amazing- I'm constantly fielding complements and people always say it looks so natural. She also made this a gradual change so it was not a shock to my hair or my wallet ;). Before Porshia, I've went from stylists to stylist armed with pictures and I've never gotten the exact hair cut that I wanted. Sometimes other stylists would style it and it would look great until the next day after I wash my hair. When Porshia works on my hair, it's always exactly what I want AND stays that way even without styling! Below is the first review I wrote - 5 visits later (I just went today and got a symmetrical bob now), I am still very picky and still very happy! I made an appointment for the bang trim and consultation and met Porshia. She was super nice during the consult so I decided to book the up-do with her. Since I'm really picky I showed her exact pictures of what I want it to look like (Penelope Cruz's side chignon) - I had the front, side and back pics. I was very particular about the way the hair twists in the back. The end result was better than I imagined. I was so happy... I did not even know it was possible for my hair to look that nice! The hair held up for the next 8 hours during the hectic day - because Porshia had used like 30 bobby pins to put it all together! Nobody could even tell (including me LOL). Given the awesome job Porshia did, I went back to get my asymmetrical bob cut after the wedding (Hebe Tian's short hair style). I showed her some pictures and she asked me what it is that I like about the hair. This is the first time a hair stylist has asked me that - it goes to show she really wants to understand not just WHAT I want but WHY. This level of detail obviously paid off. Since I'm blind without glasses, I could not see the entire time she was cutting my hair. When she was done, I was amazed that my hair looked EXACTLY like the picture of Hebe's hair that I showed her. Bottom line - you get what you paid for here.

I took the chance as I was in a wedding that friday. I left with semi dry hair as i told her she didn't need to dry it all the way bc she kept commenting how thick and how my hair i had. which I guess i won't do again bc i got home to completely dry and thats when the mess was to be seen. when I called originally I asked for simple *blended* in highlights for my blonde hair. I now have extremely streaky blonde streaks and you can see where the foil was started several areas underneath. I cried all weekend but there was nothing that could be done as I was heading out of town for a wedding. going back to another probably 3 years of not letting anyone touch my hair again. please teach your stylists blending techniques? this is not ok!! i'm extremely upset with this.
