Robboni Mechanical came out to look at my gas wall furnace. They quoted $1,200 to clean and repair it with no guarantee it would fix the problem, and $3,300 to replace the unit with a city permit. I decided to get a second opinion. Another licensed HVAC contractor inspected the same furnace, found it just needed a cleaning, and did a full cleaning and repair for about $250. It passed PG&E's safety inspection and has been working fine since. I'd recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to a replacement here. Update (Sep 2026). To clarify: my review is about the estimate I received, which I'm entitled to share. The furnace was inspected and serviced by another licensed HVAC contractor who checked the venting and flue, found no code issue, and completed a full cleaning and repair. I guess the same thing happened to my neighbor when I saw their truck outside. Anyway, a few days later they came by my place and replaced the motherboard since it was easier than soldering new components onto existing motherboard. He was on the ladder for over 30 minutes (into the attic where the furnace is located), and complained about his feet hurting standing on a ladder rung so long. He should have worn logger boots with steel shank--that's what I do as lineman who stands on ladders or pole steps or gaffes all day, haha! Used his service in 2017 to fix my landlords home that's supposedly over "mili". He came and added freon and told his the systems too small for the house and it is needed replacing. But landlords only cared about the rent not the fact that the system needed replacing. This year AC the system gave us problems yet again. Called Rabboni and he told use the same thing, but this time there was a leak in the freon line and he needed to fix it before adding you new Freon. I'm amazed at how difficult it was to find just that right person to replaced our heating unit. It was even harder than shopping for a PV (Solar panels) system. We started shopping in 2010 but gave up 2 months into it because we didn't feel comfortable with the quotes we were getting and didn't care for the sales people. I called Jose to get a Trane A/C/furnace system installed. He told me about all the models and what he recommended. I never felt pressured and decided to go with his bid. He explained the whole process. I had carpet on the stairs and he covered them well so that it wouldn't get dirty while working in the attic. He did have some minor scuffs to the wall, which was understandable, there was nooooo way you could have gotten the big furnace without a little boo boo. But what they did next was impressive. They saw that I had some touch up paint in the garage and touched it up, just like new. This is good service, service that respects you and enjoys happy customers. Great Service. I was installing a new programmable thermostat on my perfectly working heating and air conditioning system when I inadvertently hooked up one of the wires in the wrong position. This shorted out my system rendering it totally inoperable. I call Jose at Rabboni Mechanical at 10AM and he let me know that he could come over and check my issue between 4-5PM the same day. Called them this morning at 8:30, and got a call back before 10! He was able to come out right away (cancellation) to look at a rather urgent A/C issue. Very friendly and professional. After topping up the Freon everything worked great! He even replaced the capacitor on the other furnace and checked the motor for free! I would normally take off a star for not allowing payment by credit card, but that is becoming an industry standard these days. I'm a little late with my review but I wanted to make sure I got around to giving this company the review they deserve. At the beginning of spring I called around to companies trying to get my AC fixed. My dog had chewed on the wires outside and just the wires needed replaced. I called around to 5 or 6 places and they all were asking for $80 for coming out and labor + cost of materials. Luckily Jose called me right after I had made an appointment with another company stating the price I said above. He quoted me a much lower cost so I booked him and quickly called and canceled the previous company. I told him what I needed and he came out the next day and fixed for way less then half the price! We've had our heater/furnace out for about 6weeks.. Our landlord finally contacted this business after PGE found that the problem was with the furnace unit. I first met Jose, whom I assume is the big boss of the operation and managed to determine it was control board problem. He was honest and his price estimates were fair for the amount of labor and work to be done. He sends out one of his guys, Joshua. He definitely knows what he's doing and very knowledgable of the trade, teaching me how the furnace runs and its sequence as he installs the control board. Quote Process: I contacted Jose Ojeda (owner) to set up an appointment for an estimate - easily done. We met at my house to discuss my options regarding a new HVAC system. After talking with Jose he recommended Trane equipment because of its efficiency and reliability. But am so glad that I met Jose before the other big contractors who were too busy to give you a timely quote. Promised me an installation date within 2 weeks and delivered on the promise inspite of being short on resources due to attrition. I bought a Trane heater and A/C from another company 7 years ago (who has gone out of business), and figured it was long overdue to get a checkup. I was receiving those letters in the mail from an over-marketed heater company talking about a checkup for $88, but was skeptical. (And after reading their Yelp reviews I can see why...) Plus, I've been around marketing enough to know to be skeptical of companies that spend hundreds of thousands on marketing campaigns. So I checked Yelp and found Rabboni. Jose (the owner) was very nice and spent a few minutes on the phone even as we made the appointment. (By contrast, the over-marketed company put me on automatic hold when I called in and I hung up after 2 minutes of listening to their music and ads...). Jose came out a few days later and spend a lot of time checking everything and discussing my unit and configuration. He didn't try to up-sell anything and talked to me about some self-maintenance. Everything checked out fine, but I'll be taking his advice to add an overflow shutoff valve below my condenser (which he will do later) to avoid ruining my duct work if the drainage backs up. He also took extra time to disassemble and clean the drainage pump which had been making some noise previously but, of course, was not while he was there.
