We got the vegatarian platter as an appetizer, the Shrimp Saag, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Garlic Naan. We topped off our meal with creamy mango lassis. So delicious! What a fantastic endeavor. Raagini blew us away with authentic yet complex Indian flavors. Each member of our party had a different meal, and each was better than the last. Went to Raagini in Baldwin last night for an after new year dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. We had appetizers, soup, chicken tikka masala and chicken korma and nan bread. The tomato soup was the best I've ever had and the chicken dishes were so flavorful. They used white meat chicken which I prefer and it was so tender. Raj was our waiter and he was very attentive. We had ordered a bunch of food for the office. We called in the order first and the person who took the order was so unprofessional. As we were giving the order he kept saying how the order was confusing and we were ordering the items wrong. When we finally picked up the ordered the he was so disheveled and kept telling us that our order was so confusing and it took him too long to put it together. After we checked our order, there was a whole bag missing that we had to go back and get. After tasting the food it was bland and cold. And nothing tasted right. read more

I've only been here once so far, but wasn't disappointed at all. Their Indian breads are delicious, as are the dips that they bring over automatically when you come in. The salmon and chicken tikka masalas were both tasty (but make sure you tell them your spiciness preferences). I also got the channa masala (chickpeas), which was a good level of spicy. To close out, the gulab jamen are good. Unfortunately, they were somehow out of mangoes so I couldn't try a mango lassi. Together with my daughters we went to Raagini for lunch today. We were in the mood to try something new, so Indian food it was! Raj greeted us at the door and took us to our table. The restaurant was neat, clean, and the tables were socially distant from each other. We ordered chicken curry and the bread basket; both were very flavorful. The food came very quickly. Bad frozen Indian food. When there is no smell coming from the kitchen you know the are microwaved frozen food. Almost expired. " tandoori combo" , some sour cream and ketchup they called " korma". Basically frozen , old, expired Indian food they serve as " restaurant food". Don't go. And there is no lunch buffet even they keep advertising it on their website. read more

I just tried this place for the first time and I don't plan on returning. I grew up in a very Indian neighborhood with lots of Indian restaurants. If you like bland this is the place for you. Update *Preface: I really, REALLY, love this place. I used to frequent Indian restaurants in NYC, but the older I get, the more I hate the hustle and bustle of the city. *Context: I'm a huge carnivore, so basically I always get two orders of different types of meats. Being a carnivore is a tough job. Especially because meat usually has fat, tendons, or skin that's yucky. Therefore, if a restaurant really trims their meat, I truly appreciate it. Raagini has only served me lean cuts of meat, and for that I'm thankful. **REVIEW: 1. Assorted Kabab Platter - Lean meat with a lot of spice over a bed of vegetables. (It's three different styles of meat, but they're all super yummy) Order this. 2. Chicken Korma - Lean cuts of chicken in a creamy sauce. 3. Shrimp Biryani & Chicken Biryani - I loved both. However, if I had to only get one I'd say go for the shrimp. Also, let them know you like it spicy. That's how I get it. Spicy. You know what I mean. You're eating, but you need to blow your nose midway through the meal because you're in blissful pain. read more

This food was very delicious. The tikka masala was really nice, the chicken was just right and the sauce wasn't to thick or to thin, it was just right. And the naan was so fluffy and went perfect with the tikka masala. And to finish it all off I bought some ras malai and it was just amazing it was really good meal. I recently had dinner here in a Monday night with my daughter. We were seated quickly and the standard papadam and chutneys were placed on the table. Both were quite tasty. We started off with an order of samosas and each had a bowl of Mulligatawny soup. The samosas were crisp and delicious, steeped in wonderful spices. The soup was equally as good, creamy and delightful. For the main course I opted for the Lamb Saag, while my daughter ordered her favorite, Lamb Vindaloo. As usual the waiter checked with her to make sure she knew it would be spicy. Both dishes were outstanding, bursting with flavor and thoroughly enjoyable. The spinach in my dish added layers of complexity to the spice combination of the sauce!! Her Vindaloo had all the heat desired while still being full of curry flavor!! We had opted for Roti this time as our bread, and the was also great, toasty and crisp on the outside, while still moist and pliable enough to use to pick up lots of the delicious gravies of our dishes. Unfortunately, we were too full to try any of the desserts, so I can't comment on those. Overall, a completely wonderful experience, as the service was also excellent. A friend invited me for dinner here and after two days earlier eating at two other Indian restaurants I thought I would be interesting to compare how this place out in Long Island compares. It was my first time to Baldwin, NY. The food was vastly superior then both the other places in the city mentioned previously, Chola and Malai Marke but it was very very overpriced. For example two pieces of lamb seekh kebab were $14.99 when you can get just as tasty in the city for $4. The goat biryani was $15.99 and nice touch was cashew nut garnish but Raagini describe themselves as royal cuisine, if you look at any history book from the mogul period the biryani would have been a more luxuriant affair and a lot of royal dynasties would have had my preferred type, the dum biryani with the sealed bread on top to retain the moisture. Fish Koliwada again was a small portion of about 8 strips but at $11.99 was overpriced and the chutneys came in such tiny pots that barely enough for one person let alone two. Best dish was the chicken tikka masala at $12.99, I thought it was superb, as good as I've had anywhere. The second best dish was the dal makhani but at $11.99 and out in Long Island the same thought comes to mind it was overpriced. Worst dish was the overpriced bread basket, $9.99, was advised it contained parathas and naans but actually it was impossible to tell the difference. Like so many restaurants with a cheap approach they use the same plain flour for parathas as they would for naan. If anyone is unsure how a paratha should be then visit Raja Sweets in Jackson Heights to get an idea. Again the whole thing of royal cuisine is just marketing, am fortunate that my Mum comes from an old aristocratic family of India and we have a cook on the family estate, if food like that was served the chef would be replaced, in a royal household (and I almost married a beautiful Indian Princess but that's another story) the standards would be even more discerning. The pakora platter we had for starters was $8 if I recall correctly. No chutney and although meant to be three different types they all tasted samey, the batter was bland, perhaps they use the same batter for other dishes rather then just pakoras. For dessert we ordered one kheer $4.99, one ras malai $4.99 and one gulab jamun $4.99 and shared them. The kheer was cold and in India I've never had it served like that so certainly not the royal way and at home in London Mum would always make it fresh and hot, not a patch on the cold kheer served in Haandi Lexington Avenue. The gulab jamun was very sugary and again smacked of cost cutting with the ingredients, try the ones at Malai Marke and finally the ras malai tasted more like shrikand for anyone familiar with that dish and not a fresh milky ras malai generously garnished with nuts. Try a box of Royal Sweets ras malai available in Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's in the UK and you'll get a much better taste for a lot less money. Finally regarding the service I thought it was really good, the older slim waiter came three times to ask if everything was alright, he answered our questions though he did lack some knowledge about the dishes. As had quite a bit of food he pro-actively asked if we would like it packed and when we agreed he did so both cheerfully and happily. Price for two including a bottle of water, tax and tip was a whopping $150. read more

I like the open kitchen concept but the place is small for the high demand, there isn't enough room in the waiting area so my recommendation is to call ahead and just go for pick up, although they deliver but delivery takes forever. I loved my experience. Our server was from Nepal and we ended up having a great conversation about yoga and spirituality. It's so good to find community at dining establishments. The food is so well prices and so delicious. We went when they first opened and it was 50% off of everything so we really went to town. Got to try a lot of the vegetarian stuff on the menu and it was all wonderful. So glad we finally have an Indian restaurant near rockville centre! The meals I share with my family at Raagini are amazing. As a vegetarian I find their vegetable korma to be delicious. My mother highly recommends their chicken tandoori. My dad cannot get enough (metaphorically) of their raita. And my brother's go to dish, chicken tiki masala, has never let him down. I cannot say enough good things about this place! read more
