I hear of this place every summer but never had the chance til this week. What a great place for kids to enjoy water play. But actually for the entire family too! We went during free swim time from 12-4pm and it was only $10 for ages 3 and up. There's a big shallow kiddie pool with water activities and then 2 water slides on the back side of the park. There's a rec pool that maybe goes to 4.5 ft depth so it's perfect for just enjoying the water when you can't lap swim because the pool is crowded. A large picnic table area can be found in the middle of the center too so you can being lunch and snacks too. There a larger Olympic size pool on the west end of the center that can be used for lap swimming so overall it's great for all ages and swimming levels. We're planning to be here quite a bit for the summer! There's also cabanas to change into and showers to rinse off before and after swimming.

Mary is a great Aqua Fitness instructor and her classes are always packed with about 50 people per class. She is very knowledgeable, gives excellent queuing, and provides modifications for various levels, even for those of us who need more of a challenge. I have been able to get my heart rate up, get resistance, core & flexibility training here. I've noticed significant improvements in my overall fitness and physique. The pools & facilities are clean and in great condition. Water temperature is about 78 degrees and they have multiple pools to accommodate lap swimming, classes, and a kid's pool. The restrooms are pretty clean, contain 3 private shower stalls, multiple open showers, and a machine to wring out your bathing suit which is a plus. I hope to be back next summe

It's not worth what it costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I brought my 2.5 year old to learn survival swim…read morewith Kim especially since we live in Ventura and are close to the water. I enrolled in the 6-week class, M-Th, for 10 minutes, and the amount of time it took me to prepare my child for swim class, pack up, get her in the car, pack snacks after, etc., for ONLY 10 minutes ... was not worth the stress. After 4 weeks (so far) of swimming with Kim, I haven't seen much improvement in my daughter's survival swim technique ... if anything, she says "NO SWIM" and doesn't want to go to the pool even more. I was hoping that based on how much we paid, we would get a more "tailored" class, with communication to the parent on what can be worked on or what skills my daughter can continue practicing, but it feels like the class is so impersonal. Kim teaches the same thing to every child, and when I ask her what I can practice on with my child, she says, she needs to come to swim classes more. I feel like it was a waste of $1,200 and 6-weeks. When I took my daughter on vacation, I felt like I taught her more in one week at the hotel pool, than the last 6-weeks my daughter had with Kim. I know that it takes time ... especially with a 2.5 year old, but I feel like the classes can be Things that I think she needs to improve on, if parents are paying THAT MUCH MONEY: 1. Give parents a "weekly report" on skillsets that the child worked on and things to continue practicing. Almost like a progress report, with tips on how to improve. 2. Text & communicate with the parent on what the child's strengths and weaknesses are. At the end of the class, my daughter could float on her back ... and kick to the stairs, so I guess that's successful. But, she refuses to go back to swim class. I think she was traumatized. She said "No Swim Teacher Kim." I should have waited until she's older .. but thought this was crucial. Did my daugther remember anything, NO.

Her patience level is through the roof and she explains everything to the letter. I happily drove 30 min each way 5 days a week because I knew my children were getting the best of the best. Kim is top notch and I would happily recommend her to all parents with young children.

My almost 5 year old son has a slight fear of getting his face wet and had previously attended 3…read moresessions at crpd last summer. He did not learn or retain much from those sessions, between his fear of putting his face in the water, inability to keep warm (a neoprene shorty was still too cold in the summer) and short attention span. When I signed up for Connect the dots l picked lessons at midday to ensure it was warm enough for him. The main difference I noticed was that lessons were very focused. There were learning goals to be met each day, and most of the time it was exciting and fun but sometimes the kids reach an area outside of their comfort zone and the teachers at connect the dots don't back off. They firmly but gently keep working on it. That's why these 1-on-1 lessons cost more. My son had McKenna, the new lady teacher and he did well. Not a tear in the end but of course, if we don't keep practicing he will forget what he learned. Other things that will help your child to maximize learning at these lessons (not requirement but helps) -Sufficient upper body strength to push/lift themselves out of edge of pool -Able to understand/follow instruction in English -Able to handle being in and out of water in outdoor environment for 25 mins (my son needed neoprene suit and midday lessons) -Ability to coordinate limbs I watched a 6 year old learn to thread water, and swim the length of the pool (12 feet?) and he came in with some fear of water like my son.
