I spent my birthday at the Marriott hotel in Laguna. The R Spa is located inside the hotel. I booked a massage and facial. The service was amazing! They give you a comfy robe to walk around in from room to room. Your personal items are locked in a locker. You also have access to the spa amenities. The staff were all so welcoming and accommodating. They made sure they made the experience special since it was my birthday. I left out feeling so relaxed. read more

Red Light by Light Stim, RUN don't walk straight to the R Spa! I have been using Light Stim consistently for 3 months (3-4x/week). My joint pain is GONE, my skin is BRIGHTER, I LOVE it! The bed is relaxing, and 20 minutes of silence is PRICELESS. I have Hashimoto's, and my joints are always sore. I can squat now and don't have knee pain, PRICELESS. The estheticians are expertly skilled and the vibe is comfortable and relaxed. Special shout out to Nichole Morgan. Her deep tissue massages are second to none, but really everyone is fantastic. Romi Schaffer is the manager ... although I refer to her as my personal shopper ... I'm addicted to the boutique. It is the best place to shop for gifts and yourself. Located at the Club Sport Renaissance hotel which is super if your staying at the hotel. I booked a massage after checking in on a Saturday and went for the deep tissue massage. For only an $10.00 extra - it was so worth it. The massage bed is heated and the rooms are quiet and comfy. My female therapist was incredible and she worked on the tight areas of my shoulders, neck but also did a great on the legs, chest and arms. In addition to the massage the men's spa is included and houses wet & dry steam rooms and a Jacuzzi for relaxation. There's also a small lounge area to enjoy beverages and relax. The hotel offers stay and spa packages and all the fitness classes are complimentary. Perfect if your looking for a relaxation getaway for the weekend. read more

My husband and I scheduled a "date" day and booked Hydrofacials and massages at this spa. The spa is quaint and private, which felt like we had the place to ourselves! Our treatments were amazing! The staff was super attentive and we shopped in the cute store attached to the spa where I picked up some great facial creams and a cute summer outfit. The overall experience was really pleasant and ideal for our day. Located not too far from our home and a short distance from the beach where we headed afterwards for a lunch. I had a gift card here for almost a year and I decided to use it as my back was sore the past few weeks. I had an appointment for a deep tissue massage and Debbie was my masseur. I told her I had a sore lower back, tight hamstring, my shoulders are sore, oh hell, all of it is sore. Once the massage began, she really attacked my lower back...really worked at it. She was able to hit all parts of my body within 50 minutes..wow. I think I should have gotten a longer massage. She was great and really knew what to work on. The front desk was very nice and friendly with a great ambiance in the waiting room. The only reason I deducted one star was the valet person. It took him about 5 - 10 minutes to assist me to take my car. He was talking to a family and didn't even asked if I needed to valet my car or not. Not even an acknowledgment or eye contact to say I'll be right with you. I had to tell him I am valeting my car. For a nice hotel, don't be snobby as this is the first impression I have of your establishment. read more

I was so happy with how friendly the staff is. From the moment you walk up to them, you'll notice everyone is simply happy and helpful. I booked a last minute deep tissue massage with Diana. She was wonderful; the massage was thorough, and she has a lot of power for a smaller person! Romi, the manager, was super nice to me and her employees, which I like to see! So the pictures show a hottub and sauna.. that's not in the spa where u book massages, that's at the fitness center in the same building. You have to be a paying member or a guest at the hotel room to use for free. It's been a great experience; I'd say it's worth a weekend visit. read more

I would post a 5 star except for the fact that during our massage there was loud thundering crashes coming from above. After asking if it was safe, I was informed that the weightlifting area is right above us and whomever was working out was dropping the weights. For about half of our 80 minute massage this went on and made it distracting to relax completely. The therapists and manager were apologetic and seemed frustrated, since they were helpless in the matter. Like I said, if it were truly relaxing and it didn't seem like something was going to crash over our room, I'd give it a five star. For the price, it should be completely calm and tranquil. read more

Update to original review Meredith is one of the estheticians at R Spa. I had Meredith as my esthetician the other day for a facial and it was hands down the best facial I have ever received. She is so sweet and knows her products so well. She was honest and told me the areas that needed work and went over product recommendations with me. I have never felt more relaxed while having a facial. I will definitely be making regular visits to see her. My face was glowing after and my makeup application looked so much better after my treatment with her. I recommend the one hour facial and the peel add on to get the maximum benefits my skin tone looked so even and soft afterwards. I can't wait to go back. Thanks Meredith. I still love Dianna for message services she is great with her hands and uses just the right pressure. This one is tough. We're members of the gym, so we also receive a 10% discount at the spa. My review is mixed because there's the front desk and amenities, and then there's the actual massage therapist. One star for service. The front desk just told me to go on back, and I could change in the room (instead of the usual locker with robe and slippers treatment). I was the final service for the evening, so maybe that had something to do with it. So I sat in their waiting lounge and eagerly selected my tea packet. Dropped it into the mug and discovered the hot water dispenser was empty. Not drip, drip, drip...just empty. Fine...service was soon anyway. By the time they refilled, I'd be on a table. Massage was great -- five stars. Therapist was very responsive to my feedback, technique was great, and I'm pretty sure I was snoring at one point. When it was over, I planned to sit for a few minutes in the lounge area again and have the customary glass of water that usually follows a massage treatment, whether it's a five-star spa, or a two-star clinic. But the staff had already put all the glasses away. Water was still there, but I didn't think they'd want me to drink directly from the spigot. And again...I didn't want to feel like a nuisance bugging them for stuff they'd have to clean up right before closing. But then I shouldn't really be made to feel like a nuisance. To be clear, no one was rude to me. Everyone was pleasant. But if I'm expected to pay spa prices for spa amenities, A) make sure they're there when I arrive, and B) don't put them away before I leave. Right? read more

My boyfriend and I are members at the gym and received 3 free massages when we purchased our membership. The first massage we had done back in August was great... the staff was warm, welcoming, and professional & the spa is clean and has an overall relaxing ambiance. We just came in for our second hour and a half massage and I was lucky enough to get Diana. It was by far THE best massage I had ever had. It was thorough, she had perfect pressure, and was consistent. I will definitely be back again to see her and would recommend her to anyone! read more

Decided to try this spa yesterday for an 80 minutes massage. It has been a few years and the knots and tight spots in my shoulders were evidence of my neglect. While the facility is nice, it is not as luxurious as some other day spas I have been too. The amenities (sauna, steam room, etc) and not connected to the spa. You have to walk to the fitness area in you robe, which is though an open corridor to the fitness area entrance. However, once the massage started, I forgot all about that. Nichole worked wonders combing a relaxing massage while working on the knots in my shoulders. Pressure was as requested, she made sure I was OK throughout the treatment all while letting me just relax. I would go back just for Nichole. read more

Driving up to the Renaissance Hotel is memorable. You drive through nothingness for awhile, and then you see a huge, beautiful building perched on a hilltop. You drive to the valet, and realize this is a fancy schmancy place. Valet is complimentary! This is a 2 year old fitness hotel, meaning it has a monstrous fitness gym that is complimentary when you stay in their hotel. The lobby, the fitness cafe, the spa, the pool, the gym- it's all so beautiful & clean. I felt like I was in the Aria Hotel at Vegas minus the slot machines. The actual spa entrance is through their spa shoppe. The front desk seemed a little disorganized to me, but the aromatherapy massage was excellent! Nicole was amazing. After having such a craptastic week, it was nice to have it all melt away with her healing hands. The facial with Eileen was just ok. Granted, it was only 25 minutes, it still felt very rushed. The aesthetician tried to sell me products and upgrades during treatment, and while letting the creams set on my face, she'd start to text on her phone. Wow.... I wouldn't get a facial here, because the prices are too high for such little attention. I ended my spa treatment with a manicure, and the manicurist was friendly and did a great job. Overall great experience. Everyone was extremely nice and the spa is well-kept & clean. But if I had to pick, I'd opt for massages over the facial treaments. read more

WOW WOW WOW....! R Spa is located at the Renaissance Hotel, 50 Enterprise Drive in Aliso Viejo, just off of the 73 Toll Fwy. I went to the R Spa because I had a Groupon. (Which, by the way I am addicted to.) I had a 25 min massage, 25 min facial and an express manicure. I upgraded to the 50 min massage, and boy am I glad I did!! My masseuse, Debbie was unbelievable! I mean, seriously, the best massage I think I have ever had. (and I've had a lot of massages) She knew where I carried my weight, had the right touch, just the right amount of pressure, and she covered every area of my body perfectly. She didn't even HAVE TO ASK!! I didn't leave feeling like she left any part of me massaged enough. I think she could also tell I was right handed which blew my mind. It was perfection. My next service was a mini facial. It was amazing too. My aesthetician was Regina. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave extra care to my needs, and even used the high frequency "zapper" on my problem areas. I feel she went the extra mile to make sure I left glowing. Finally, I had a manicure with Natalie. She was super skilled, fast, and became like an instant "girlfriend". She was great to talk to, funny and did such a great job on my nails, I could be a hand model. After my treatments I was allowed to use the locker room jacuzzi and showers and they were outstanding. Clean, uncrowded and luxurious. Even Valet was comped. All in all I loved my experience there. I would ABSOLUTELY go back. The only down point.. the price. If it weren't for the Groupon, I would have never gone there. But I will save my money for another spa day like that. Two thumbs way up! read more

At 37 weeks pregnant, I came in and had a tropical body scrub done by Diana. This was my first pregnancy massage and she knew exactly how to position me so I was comfortable (not easy at 37 weeks) and made the entire experience extremely relaxing. Not to mention the treatment itself was invigorating. It was 12 shower heads positioned over you while you lay down and an aromatic scrub is distributed all over your body. So I decided to go down R Spa today and I booked a quick pedicure. A little bit out of my element but I really enjoyed it. I must say Laurie was excellent! she really helped my pain with her expert reflexology skills she added into my massage at the end. Overall, for an average joe like me, this place was great! I went here for a mother's day package. I had a 25 minute massage with Nicole that was AMAZING!! She was able to get all my tension areas out in such a short period of time. I would recommend her to anyone. She is very skilled, and has a great disposition about her. The reason my rating is so low is because of the person I received a pedicure from, Natalie. She was very cold and distant. After finally finding something to speak about with her, she made numerous ethnically inappropriate comments. She was speaking about not sending her son to a specific preschool because during her observation there were so many middle easterners who just sat together and did not engage with the kids. And then she goes on to say that she didn't want to send her son somewhere were they did not speak English well since he was just learning to speak the language. EXCUSE ME???!!! This whole time she did not realize that I am Middle Eastern. Toward the end of the pedicure, I mentioned that I am a Middle Easterner born and raised in America, and instead of apologizing for her comments she just said, "I had a feeling you were." But maybe I fooled her with my perfect English! I called the Spa manager a few days later to tell her about my experience. She was very apologetic and said she would let the Spa director know and would get back to me. No one ever got back to me! What kind of a place allows employees to make inappropriate comments? I was introduced to this spa in the form of a gift certificate from my in-laws for my birthday. I quickly scheduled a package for the following week. No problems with the by phone scheduling. Upon arrival everything was great. I was shown to the locker room where I could leave my belongings and change into the robe. First treatment was the body scrub followed by an 80 minute massage. During scheduling I was told the scrub was around 40 minutes. So tell me why my appointment was at 11 am and I finished both treatments by 12:30? The person doing both treatments jipped me around 30 minutes. Unacceptable, but by the time I saw the time to notice this the masseuse was long gone and I was being moved on to my next treatment. Next was my included lunch. I ordered a club sandwich and it was delicious, no complaints there. Following lunch was the manicure and pedicure. 2 minutes into sitting down the lady told me to pick a color. I asked for their shellac/gel colors that they have signs advertising for throughout the spa. She immediately told me "I don't know how to do shellac." Since she was the only manicurist there I was stuck getting a plain old manicure. How is this acceptable that you work at a high end salon who offers a service but you don't know how to do it. That was disappointing. She struggled throughout the entire process, even bumping the polish shelf knocking them all onto the floor. I almost asked her multiple times during the treatment if this was her first time but refrained. Overall, the pedicure was standard and the manicure I could have done myself except I could have done a better job painting my own nails. Now when looking at their website for the timing this service was also cut short. Kind of a problem when they charge $100 a pop. Lastly was my facial. She did a great job, my only complaint is that she was very noisy, banging everything around throughout the treatment. At one point she was mixing product in a glass bowl so loudly right by my ear I almost got up to leave. I expect this from a place where you are paying $25 because you are obviously paying for the service and not the ambiance but it is just not appropriate at a high end spa. My relaxation was somewhat ruined by all the noise. Overall I guess I got what I came for: a massage and facial, nothing special. When I went to pay with my gift certificate there were issues. A hotel manager came and resolved that without problems, he was great. Afterwards however there was another issue with their pricing. The online price for the package was substantially less than what they were trying to charge me (try almost a $200 difference), I even pulled up their website to show the receptionist that the price was still online. Upon finding out what they wanted to charge me, the services I received are made even more mediocre. I am awaiting a call from the manager to resolve the price issue. Based on the services rendered and their prices I would definitely not return. There are many other small businesses that provide such better services at a fraction of the price. read more

I just went back a third time to the R-spa for a wax. Regina no longer works there so I was seen by a new person (Jessica). It wasn't a very good experience. I was left with a lot of waxy residue along my bikini line which has never happened to me before. Once I was able to get the waxy residue off at home (using baby oil) I realized the whole area was burned. She also did my eyebrows and upper lip. My eyebrows do look fantastic but she burned my skin above my lip and it left a small scab there. The scab lasted for about a week and people kept asking what happened. Embarrassing? Yes! I think she's really new but due to that experience I probably will never go to the R-Spa again. It was really uncomfortable, incredible long process (I was there for over an hour) and unusually painful. read more

I've been a monthly regular at RSpa for a year and have had the best experiences. The desk is not only awesome at the appointment book (I've NEVER had a misunderstanding which is so common at spas all over the world in terms of wrong treatment booked or not enough time frame for treatment you wanted, no confirmation call etc. and this has never happened at RSpa), they also have the best aestheticians, Dianna is mine and she's wonderfully trained but also knowledgable and has taught me so much about skin care. They always remember me as a Clubsport executive member and apply my discount without my reminding them. The customer service is superb. I've bought many items in the retail part of the spa from artisan jewelry to clothing and skin care products. 5 stars all the way around at RSpa :) read more
