RJ's is always pretty good, but I hadn't been in for quite a while and I was pleasantly surprised this time. Since the weather wasn't going to cooperate for Father's Day, I decided to take Dad out for BBQ. Admittedly the first and second choices were basically unavailable due to world cup fans flocking them, so the wait times were untenable. While RJ's was busy, there was fortunately no wait. I opted for chopped brisket and turkey with fries while the old man went with a pulled pork po boy. Thought the food was really, really good. Service was excellent. Blessed to have this place nearby. We've been coming here for a while since it is not very far from us, and every time we have their food, we are not disappointed. Most recently we ordered several items to go and brought it to the Chiefs game. Billy is super friendly and nice. We also recommend their Sunday brunch option. Being a sauce enthusiast, I can vouch that their selection of sweet, regular and spicy are well seasoned. Pro tip: during the warmer months there is live music outside on their patio on weekends, which has a good amount of seating. read more

Stopped in at RJ's for Sunday Brunch. YES, they have a terrific Breakfast/Drink Menu on SUNDAY ONLY, 8-1. And of course, their regular menu featuring in house BBQ with many specialty items is available as well. Don't overlook this great spot--not overly crowded at that time, fast and personal service with large portions. Enough to take home and enjoy another day. So many home made/smoked meats such as sausages, bacon, lamb, salmon, ham etc and a Kids Menu too! The delivery took a longer time than expected. Because of another stop which was made the food arrived cold. The brisket looked like scraps that were left over. They were cold and tough. The fries where ice cold and I paid extra for them. Also the "garlic toast" was just a crust of hard bread that had only a bit of garlic flavor. It was super salty way too much cheese and not enough other condiments also they used barbecue beans instead of just regular beans on a nacho and they were hitting under the chips.It was only $12 but I feel like I could've spent a better $12 somewhere else I would not go to this place again if you're starving IG. My husband and I returned to the Bob-Be-Que Shack for an anniversary dinner, and we had a great meal! Sherry was once again our waitress, and once again went over and above. When I asked about vinegar for my spinach greens, she went to the pantry and found some apple cider vinegar for me. How sweet! She guided us through the menu (we were there early in the evening, and lunch was being served, along with dinner options, until 5 pm) and came back to check on us frequently. She was friendly and welcoming and made sure we enjoyed our meals. The food was DELICIOUS! I had the pulled pork Po' Boy sandwich, perfectly put together with coleslaw on the hoagie bun, and a side order of spinach greens, equally tasty. My husband had the burnt ends lunch special, which was yummy; he only wished the portion of meat was a little larger. He'll know next time to order the dinner portion. R. I really like their sides, moreso than the meat. I haven't tried enough of the meat yet. But I really like the onion rings and mac and cheese! Their southern bbq sauce is also really tasty with it, it is slightly sweet and has a good tangy flavor. The service is really nice, everyone was very helpful and friendly when I came to order to-go for the first time. They were patient while I looked at the menu and answered my questions. The wait was fine as well, they fried up the onion rings fresh. The restaurant is very small but has a good separation of space between the carryout area, the bar area, and the booths/tables dining area. I really like this place and enjoy coming here anytime! Both meals were excellent for quality and quantity. RJ's is a great little place. It has the appearance of being a former convenience store. Finding the entrance was a challenge but I did it. The dining room is small but there's no shortage of parking spaces. Service was good and it was full table service. The food was good. I ordered a burnt ends sandwich and potato salad. The sandwich was skimpy and the potato salad was mediocre. All-n-all, it was enjoyable and I'd return in a heartbeat if I lived closer. Well, R.J's caught my eye ( and who isn't in the mood for BBQ at all times??) I got the burnt ends sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. Was sincerely impressed with quality of food! The Mac and cheese was really yummy (the only thing that could've made it better is having a some sort of coating on top---breadcrumbs or Parmesan?). The burnt ends in the sandwich had a really smoky taste and nice crust. It was a little lean for my tastes, but the flavor was good and the bbq sauce with it made the whole entree come together. We started this mean and many others here with the jalapeño sausage appetizer. Must say one of my favorites. We decided to split the Really Big rib and meat meal. For 35$ you get way more food than two people ever should eat or try. We did try. I thoroughly enjoy RJs ribs. Simple and delicious. The sausage is amazing. The smoked chicken was great and flavorful. The only thing I will not repeat is the chopped brisket. Not that it did not have good flavor. But there was something off with a super chopped style of meat. Just not a fan. You try it for your palate and see what you think. I will be back and definitely recommend RJ's. read more

I was working down the street and really excited to try this neighborhood BBQ spot I heard a lot about. I called my order in and picked it up, with the person checking me out actually checking to see all elements of my order were packed and correct (so many places don't do this). Great customer service and the price of the food was pretty fair. I got a pulled chicken sandwich and a side of mac and cheese and coleslaw with an unsweet tea. The pulled chicken style is definitely different from what I am used to with east coast BBQ however felt quite healthy to me and the seasoning was great. The coleslaw was a beautiful marriage of creamy and sweet with some acidity. The mac and cheese was a bit bland for my liking but I added in some of their hot bbq sauce and it made it absolutely amazing. Our neighborhood bbq joint is a great choice on most days. We've eaten here enough times to have the five stars and the ones stars. I'm still gonna lay a four on the table and feel pretty solid with that choice. The staff are top-notch, always friendly and helpful! My kids love this place and beg for it often. The kids menu is standard, which makes them happy and I love the nice price ($5). I've dinged them a star, more times than not, I've ordered burnt ends that have inedible pieces of pork. Makes my dogs happy for the jerky treats. Why keep ordering the same thing, you might ask?! Because, when it's good, it's amazing! I can't hate long on them though. Well, I tried to send a message through their website and got ignored so here it goes. I ordered online from them on April 8th. I've been ordering from them for over 20 years. I requested online to get 2 extra bbq sauces. You know, the ones that come on the little one ounce containers. I happen to have a husband and little boy who both love plenty of sauce. I go to pick up the $40 order. I got the message that you see in the below pic. I am absolutely appalled that they wouldn't accommodate a request for 2 extra sauces ( I didn't ask for 20 or anything). There was never a problem before. So I really don't get it.
