Rising along U.S. Highway 192, the enormous fiberglass orange is one of those quirky roadside landmarks that makes you want to stop and take a picture. The story of Orange World dates back to 1971, when Eli Sfassie moved from Indiana to Florida and opened a Texaco gas station near the newly opened Walt Disney World. To take advantage of the growing number of tourists traveling through the area, he began selling souvenirs from the station's service bay. In 1988, Sfassie transformed the building into a giant orange at a cost of about $6,000. The resulting structure stands approximately 60 feet tall and has been promoted as the World's Largest Orange. In 2004, strong winds from hurricane Charley reportedly tore a giant decorative crystal ball from the nearby Giant Wizard gift shop. The enormous ball crashed onto the roof of Orange World, leaving a dent in the structure. According to local lore, the crystal ball was never found. In 2017 the giant orange has even appeared in Sean Baker's critically acclaimed film The Florida Project, adding to the colorful roadside scenery surrounding the movie's setting. Orange World suffered another setback in March 2023 when a fire broke out in the storage area above the gift shop, causing significant smoke damage to the interior. For a time, merchandise was sold outside while repairs were underway. The remodeled interior reopened in October 2024, bringing the attraction back to full operation. Today, Orange World sells fresh citrus, juice, orange trees, snacks, cookies, candy, honey, alligator jerky, sauces, jams and jellies, and a huge selection of Florida-themed souvenirs. Inside, you'll find plenty of inexpensive souvenir clothing, T-shirts, Disney and Universal merchandise, gifts, and other tourist memorabilia. I was surprised by how expensive the orange juice was. It was $3.50 for a small cup. Gallons were $14.99. While I absolutely love the giant orange itself, have to admit that I found the inside somewhat underwhelming. For me, the exterior is the star of the show. There is just something wonderfully nostalgic about this giant orange. If you enjoy quirky roadside attractions, classic Florida kitsch, and places that are fun to photograph, Eli's Orange World is definitely worth a quick stop. It's the kind of wonderfully odd attraction that is so Florida.

This is one of the only farmer's markets in Orlando where patrons can use SNAP benefits as a form of payment, which is fantastic. Their mission is to "transform Parramore's food dessert into a food oasis" and I really hope with community support they are able to do just that. It was a good mix of tables - lots of fresh veggies, honey, gourmet popcorn, baked goods, shaved iced/specialty beverages, artisanal candles, jewelry, scarves, head wraps, skirts, and original art. There were several tables with neighborhood information as well, which is always great. They also had live music, which added a fun element. Today was their first market and there were about 17 tables - I really hope to see this market grow as word gets out about it and the weather warms up!

It's waaay less overwhelming and you actually get to hold conversations and interact with the vendors. My friends and I took our time to visit most of the tables. There were several fresh produce stands (Growing Orlando, Fleet Farming, etc), plenty of ready to eat food options ( get the samosas from Spice Affair, sweets from Suga & Spice and the caramel/cheese mix from Popcorn Junkie) and if you're a coffee fan, Mercantile Coffee Co. is a no brainer. I had the cold brew with oat milk. First time trying it and it was great. Didn't miss the cream at all! They also had matcha and a cider on tap if coffee isn't your thing. If you're looking for gifts- I bought the best handpoured soy candle from Soy What Candle Company that smells just like the cucumber melon lotion from B&BW. But this purchase helps a Parramore family! Definitely follow PFM on FB and on Instagram to see what vendors will be there as the lineup probably changes from time to time. They were terrible at scaring people, honestly, it was so bad it was funny. I wouldn't even call it a maze; I don't know what it was supposed to be. It took maybe 5-10 minutes to get through, and it was just an overall joke. Then we moved on to the forest part, which was somehow worse. They offer light-up necklaces so the "actors" (if you can even call them that) can touch you. As soon as the trailer dropped us off, one of the workers grabbed my girlfriend by the neck very aggressively and dragged her into the line. She ended up with neck pain, and I was furious. I thought they were supposed to scare people, not assault them. That was completely uncalled for. We tried to make the best of it and keep going, but the whole walk through the forest was a mess. The workers just stood there, screamed in people's faces, and awkwardly walked toward you. It wasn't scary, it was just annoying. Near the end, they made everyone go through a tube, and as my girlfriend went through, one of the actors started shaking it violently to the point where she fell and hurt her back, which ended up bruised. Again, not scary just dangerous and careless. Overall, this place was a complete waste of time and money. The actors were inexperienced, unprofessional, literal children trying and some of them were downright aggressive. If you're looking to actually be scared, don't come here, you'd have a better time watching paint dry.

It would take me forever to fill a bucket. So buying the pre-picked ones again for the second week in a row at a different blueberry farm made me happy. A lot of places are closed, but farms are essential since there are fruits and veggies, etc. This blueberry farm is wonderful and has such great character. I love the big trees with shaded area. It's very family oriented. Their prices are really good too. If you pre-pick you park your car and go behind the green door to the side. If you pick blueberries, the tram will take you to the designated picking spot. There is music, blueberry lemonade, blueberry soft serve, pies, salsas, honeys. There's a playground for the kiddos and picnic tables and rocking chairs and an inside outside restrooms. I bought pre-picked for 2lbs for $10. This is cheaper than the place I went to last week in Lakeland. I loved our time here, and so glad I found a beautiful local spot! They are dog friendly by the picnic tables, but not in the blueberry fields. That makes total sense! So glad they were so welcoming to us! We will be back next year!!

It doesn't have any of the fancy get ups, but for blueberry picking it has everything you need. Organic and conventional blueberries ($7 a lb and $4 a lb, respectively). Buckets, with bags and sanitizing wipes. Lots of blueberries of all kinds of varieties. It also has a few things you don't need but will welcome--like golf carts to take you to the organic blueberries if you don't want to walk, and a little pond that you can bring your fishing rod to to try and catch some fish! It's a beautiful, uncrowded spot and the end of a long dirt road. If you're looking to pick blueberries, it's as good of a spot as any.
