I made a request for a chicken parm sub (adding marinara to their chicken tender sub). Despite not having marinara sauce in their sub shop, they ran over the the aisle with the pasta sauce and GRABBED A JAR, opened it and made us a chicken parm sub! That's amazing customer service! Bonus that whole chicken tender subs were their special sub of the week and had a $3 discount making them $6.99 EACH! That's unreal! (After our initial chicken tender sub, in which the tenders are chopped up, we requested the tenders kept whole and my husband and I both agree we preferred the tenders WHOLE.) We grabbed a few other groceries while here including Lays chips which were buy one get one free. Since we're from out of town, I asked if the sale prices needed a store card and good news is that you don't! In addition to the sub shop workers here, the other employees are so friendly as well! Rising along U.S. Highway 192, the enormous fiberglass orange is one of those quirky roadside landmarks that makes you want to stop and take a picture. The story of Orange World dates back to 1971, when Eli Sfassie moved from Indiana to Florida and opened a Texaco gas station near the newly opened Walt Disney World. To take advantage of the growing number of tourists traveling through the area, he began selling souvenirs from the station's service bay. In 1988, Sfassie transformed the building into a giant orange at a cost of about $6,000. The resulting structure stands approximately 60 feet tall and has been promoted as the World's Largest Orange. In 2004, strong winds from hurricane Charley reportedly tore a giant decorative crystal ball from the nearby Giant Wizard gift shop. The enormous ball crashed onto the roof of Orange World, leaving a dent in the structure. According to local lore, the crystal ball was never found. In 2017 the giant orange has even appeared in Sean Baker's critically acclaimed film The Florida Project, adding to the colorful roadside scenery surrounding the movie's setting. Orange World suffered another setback in March 2023 when a fire broke out in the storage area above the gift shop, causing significant smoke damage to the interior. For a time, merchandise was sold outside while repairs were underway. The remodeled interior reopened in October 2024, bringing the attraction back to full operation. Today, Orange World sells fresh citrus, juice, orange trees, snacks, cookies, candy, honey, alligator jerky, sauces, jams and jellies, and a huge selection of Florida-themed souvenirs. Inside, you'll find plenty of inexpensive souvenir clothing, T-shirts, Disney and Universal merchandise, gifts, and other tourist memorabilia. I was surprised by how expensive the orange juice was. It was $3.50 for a small cup. Gallons were $14.99. While I absolutely love the giant orange itself, have to admit that I found the inside somewhat underwhelming. For me, the exterior is the star of the show. There is just something wonderfully nostalgic about this giant orange. If you enjoy quirky roadside attractions, classic Florida kitsch, and places that are fun to photograph, Eli's Orange World is definitely worth a quick stop. They have a rude, condescending staff and the selection here is not nearly as good as the Saint Augustine location. This particular location is located in the outlets and obviously caters to the foot traffic that the outlets generate. I was shopping for Christmas gifts when I stumbled across it and strolled in to pick up a few favorite hot sauces and save myself a trip to Saint Augustine (which is not as dramatic as it sounds as I am up that way regularly for business). This location only carries Pepper Palace products, where the Saint Augustine location has a multitude of brands of different hot sauces. Still, I wanted to make a purchase so I wandered about looking for some hot sauce to jump out at me, whether it be for a gift or for myself (a gift from me to me). They had sample bottles out but none of the chips like at the Saint Augustine location to place the sauce on. I assume this is because of COVID-19. Anyway, I took a sample bottle (labeled as a sample bottle) and put a drop on my finger and suddenly a woman was yelling at me as if I was a child. She then pointed to a pretty concealed box of small spoons and told me this is how they do it. OK, I get it. Cool, even tjough customer service should not include shrieking at customers. But, I would have been OK with this. But then she proceeded to tell her coworker and a gaggle of customers in a profanity laced diatribe my exact indiscretion. She also made sure she was liud enough so I could hear what her foul mouthed description and opinion of me was. My response was simple. I placed the bottles I had in my hands that I was going to purchase (about a hundred dollars worth) on the table and walked out. I can accept my error, though I feel it was relatively minor, but to degrade me, curse at me and svream at me is unacceptable. I will day that I will never return to this store.

What I like about this store is the staff is always willing to help find something or even offer their opinion if they are familiar with each item. On the last Thursday of the month (at least before March 2020), they would have a wine tasting where you pay a small fee for a cup and you can sample a bunch of wines. It's easy to shop for sale items and clearance items by the different color tags. I grew up shopping for sale items and am always looking for a good deal. They also have their higher end items in separate display cases so if you're looking for an expensive gift or indulgence, you can easily find that too. They have chilled items too so if you need something for the ride home, they got you covered. Some popular items sell out, but that's not ABC's fault. Everything was organized and easy to find, even though the store was arranged differently from the other Publix locations I've visited. This was actually one of the smallest Publix stores I've been to, but it still had everything I needed. I found some steak at a great price and picked up wild oysters that were on sale in the seafood department. The service was fast and friendly. This Publix does not have self-checkout, but the checkout process was still pretty quick. Overall, it carries the same items as any other Publix and is a good location to shop.
