Just to get an idea of what she had to deal with, I included a picture of (one of three) piles of transactions that needed to be digitalized.  Trust is also a major factor for me when it comes to sharing financial information, and even though I know her from before, she still had no issue/wasn't offended by my asking to provide references, which was appreciated, and the references couldn't stop raving about her professional bookekeeping skills.  With her help, my books are perfectly neat, and it's easy to pay our bills on time. I also finally have a handle on our budget and an overall view of our expenses via her easy to interpret reports. I also appreciate the quick responses to all of my calls and texts. With the easy-to-interpret monthly reports, I've already saved a good deal of money and time, no longer confuse personal and business expenses, and taxes are a breeze. The mental burden lifted from not feeling all the paperwork hanging over my head is also priceless.. and I don't have to be afraid of getting yelled at by my CPA come tax-time. Thank you for the peace of mind, I've enjoyed all my interactions Amira, and would recommend her bookkeeping services for any small/meduim size growing business!

We were in and out very quickly this year. (It helps streamline things when you have all your documents in order!). Her prices are very reasonable given how much she helps us save in taxes. We have been recommending her to our friends and family.

For the past two years, we've worked with her remotely after moving a few hours away. Unfortunately, this year was a completely different experience. Despite reaching out over a month before the tax deadline and providing all requested documents, nothing on our file was completed or even reviewed. Given that our returns are very similar year to year, this should have been a straightforward, turn-key process of updating numbers. Instead, we were repeatedly told our file was being worked on when it clearly was not. Her office also does not provide a secure portal or method for sending documents, so we created our own secure Google Drive to share everything. Based on activity, it appeared the documents were never even accessed, which prompted our patient but repeated check-ins, along with periodic emails that were ignored and never replied to. If email communication is not a strong suit, a phone call would have been appreciated--but we never received one and always had to initiate contact ourselves. During one of those calls, we even asked if we should come in person, and were assured it was not necessary and that she regularly handles remote clients. As the deadline approached, we were told an extension would be filed due to timing and the lack of completion due to how overwhelmed they were, however no one reached out to tell us this, we assumed ours would be completed on time. On April 14th, after being on hold for over 30 minutes, Sue finally told us the day before deadline that she was filing the extension while on the phone, collected our personal and banking information, and said she would confirm once it was submitted. That confirmation never came. The following morning (tax deadline), we called to follow up since we had not heard from her as promised. During that call, her admin staff placed my spouse on hold to check with Sue on the status of the extension. While on hold, the line was not muted and we overheard Sue say, "those effing people are a pain in my a**," clearly referring to us. When she came on the phone moments later, her tone was completely different. We were honestly shocked and confused--especially since we had simply been trying to confirm whether our extension had actually been filed after not receiving the promised confirmation the day before tax deadline. She then acted as if she didn't even know we had spoken the day before and told us we were simply on her "extension list." No extension had been filed, and no payment had been processed. On tax deadline, my spouse and I had to take it in our own hands and call the IRS to request the extension and give a best guess payment. Communication throughout this process with Best Team Tax was extremely poor. Emails went unanswered, calls were not returned, and we had to repeatedly follow up just to get vague or inconsistent updates. Staff were polite but unable to provide clear or accurate information. We are genuinely surprised by this experience, given how positive prior years have been. However, due to the lack of communication, follow-through with completing what we were told was being done, and lack of professionalism (cussing in the background, etc) we will no longer be using or recommending these services. Respectfully, we were once happy clients but after this year we are done and now are left to find someone else to do them for us at the last minute. We would have preferred transparency up front, if you didn't have the time or ability to complete.

Liane Whittaker has been doing our bookkeeping and taxes since I saw her advertisement in The…read moreShepherd Yellow Pages in 2007. For 17 years she has come to our office once a week to enter our business and personal financial transactions and reconcile our books using Quickbooks. At the end of the year she prepares and files more than a dozen business and personal state and federal tax returns for our business and family members. Many of our friends use her tax services and rely on her good advice from her extensive experience and background in state and federal government services and in medical services. Our property manager uses her tax services for her business, and Liane prepares and files taxes for the non-profit organization we volunteer for. Liane attends the weeklong IRS Tax Seminar and the weeklong IRS Update School every year, so she is always armed with the latest information from the IRS about what and who they will be focusing on each year. She is an IRS Enrolled Agent. Many people using self-service tax programs are being shocked by the taxes the programs say they owe. Liane says that the self-service tax programs are calculating higher taxes for several reasons, one of the main ones being answering questions incorrectly. Preparing your own taxes is not a smart choice for an uninformed taxpayer. The IRS is changing the rules constantly. The self-service tax programs are not keeping up with the changes. If you call the IRS and ask for advice, you will get a different answer every time you call. You need to work with a professional who knows the rules, keeps up with the rules, and will represent you professionally, thoughtfully, and carefully if and when you have to deal with the IRS about an issue. Liane cares about her clients. She is in business to help people, not to get rich. You will find that she charges considerably less than every other tax service, and she knows the rules. She will prepare and file your taxes correctly. She doesn't charge for a consultation, so give her a call. You will be glad you did.
